Yo I am the guy that you met at the gym with the cold bath and the sauna.
I have to say that Koh Phangan is way too busy at the moment( february March ), you are never alone, there is always noise somewhere, people are coming to get waisted and party. Scooter everywhere, a lot of pollution from the different vehicules. I will not recommand if you want to have quiet cool vacation tbh.
    Thanks for the video

Heyyy brooo I had to leave running from sauna as I was late from meeting😄 Text me on Instagram! And yeah it's surprisingly busy now.. The North side is more quiet tho it's pretty nice to live here but then need to drive all the time to the town.. I still love it but need to find the peaceful spots haha!

@@JooseTheNomad i was just gonna ask how it is vs bali. i was in phangan in late sept and it was almost dead. after everyone went home from full moon i was like what.. zen beach had some people but not crazy amount (at least it seemed from quick bike ride, i didnt go around too much didnt have time) but haad rin was dead.
phangan is a vibe when there are parties every day and enough people to go to them, like before covid. not sure if its back to that. Protip u can see some decent corals in phangan i saw some around lighthouse beach resorts

Great video Joose! I moved to Bali 4 months ago and I was planning to visit Koh Phangan tomorrow for a couple of weeks. Last minute, I decided to leave that trip for the low season. I’m going to Malasya instead. I can’t wait to visit Thailand in the rainy season. Less crowds and probably more affordable. Thanks so much for the video! 😊

I fell I love with this island in 2001 when I lived in a 120b a night wooden hut in Woktum Bay. I’ve been back a few times over the years and it has evolved at the same pace as the rest of the country. Thailand is a popular destination, 50 million tourists a year, so it will change and it looks like it is doing it well and keeping the paradise island vibe alive

One thing that you've really mastered is the rhythm in your videos. Too many vlogs / digital nomad videos are either too fast and you feel like watching a commercial or it's inconsistent with some parts being too slow and I end up clicking out. Kudos for that. I went to Koh Phangan end of January this year (2024) It absolutely is gaining so much popularity, but what I fell in love with was the slow rising, peaceful, clean, friendly and bohemian vibe they have. This video is like a knife through the heart!
For someone like me who went to Koh Phangan in 2007 for the very first time and then again in 2008, 2011, 2015 and 2016 - this place has changed a lot, and, sadly, not for the better.
The overall vibe back in the 2007 - 2015 was wild, Full Moon party or just being there in between the events! The entire Haad Rin beach was a dancing sea of 30,000+ people. The 2016 visit was a harbinger of how things were getting commercialised and soulless, with groovy, shabby, funky bars getting an industrial remake and us having to get wristband just like to your average European festival. Now I am seeing some videos from 2023-24 and it looks even worse than Malaga or Benidorm. Barely anyone dancing or having fun, thousands just walking or sitting on futon bags on the beach glued to their phones in front of fire shows.
The spirit of Koh Phangan is truly gone and buried.

  • @MarkHarrop

A crazy price hike! Do you really think it's to do with a different time of year (November/December vs February/March) or do you think its simply inflation? Do you happen to know what your Airbnb rental is charging for November/December 2024 as a comparison? It's not as busy as Haad Rin, so I'd say go for it. The North of the island is also worth checking! I loved it there, it's very laidback and not a lot of tourists there.
