I have watched a few hours of Mainstage tutorials from all over this week and your videos were the ones that most helped me do what I was trying to. Thank you!
I just have to say, that I am so thankful for your videos. I took a break from leading worship after having been a worship leader for nearly 20 years. Stepping back into it, I've only recently come to understand the wonder that is Mainstage 3! I'm using an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 and your tutorials were the kick start I needed. God bless you!
this has been amazing man. I stayed up super late just messing with the stuff I learned here, lol, it's 4:44am! thank you! I can sleep easy now, God Bless!
Just started working with Mainstage. I have been using Logic for years. Your tutorials are very helpful. Thanks so much for sharing these. I'd be interested in learning about how to split the keyboard with 2 different sounds. Thanks again, God bless.
Using a pad for a button you'll have to edit the function for the pad in the MPK edit menu and change from "momentary" (i.e. Drum pad, on when pressed, off when released) to "toggle" (i.e a Button, on when pressed once, off when pressed a second time) that can be configured from the midi keyboard's menu.
If you are like me and before the video was even over, immediately checked your Logic sounds to see if you have the "Blue Carpet" sound, and found that you do not... Here's a good reminder to occasionally UPDATE YOUR LOGIC SOUND LIBRARY. I've got so much more stuff that I didn't know I had been missing.
THANKS for the video. I have a question. I have saved all patches, but the channel strip settings are overwritten in each patch with the same settings. Please help.
trying to playback drum loop and then loop rhythm guitar. the guitar loopback needs to sync with the drum playback. Then I can play lead guitar over these. Jerry can you help me with this.
Thanks this was super helpful!! Can you do more tutorials? I'm having trouble mapping the panic button to my Novation Impulse 61 keys. I was trying to map one of the drum pads as the panic button but for some reason the drum pads are automatically linked to notes on the keyboard, so for example one of them is a C4. So if you play the the C4 on the keys or tap the drum pad which is linked to that key you will get the same C4 sound. I thought maybe you could change the midi channel and it would fix the problem, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that. Hm.. I tried different things, thought I changed them to different channels, but when I click on the drum pad it still show the C4 key pressed on the virtual keyboard on the screen..
That's pretty much how the pads are configured, unfortunately they are assigned to the same messages as the keys, so it's one or the other. Not sure if there are modifiable settings within mainstage to change that but it is possible in logic.
Hey Susan! Ditto the above comment. I haven't found a way to get drum pads to be anything other than a physical midi note. Definitely something I would love to see in a future MainStage update.
So I accidentally deleted the part in the edit tab where the keyboard shows and the concert settings are, and no matter what concert I open up it's like that. Can anyone help with that?
Jerron, your video is extremely helpful. I have an issue and I am hoping you can clear this up. Regarding the PANIC and TAP TEMPO buttons. I have a Novation Impulse 61. It has 8 drum pads. I did what you instructed by mapping them. However, when I hit the pads, it shows that I am triggering notes G3 and A3. Is that of any concern in that are the pads going to trigger whatever sound (e.g. piano) I have in my patch as well or not?
Hey Andre! Thanks for reaching out. I just did some testing to back up what I thought I had experienced in the past - and that's that I don't believe the panic button or tap tempo buttons trigger the sound you have in your patch, or vice versa (the note doesn't trigger panic). However, just to be safe, I would change the mapping of the midi note to be some ridiculously high or low note (C8, for example), to make sure you won't accidentally trigger the panic button. Hope that helps man!
I just got mainstage and when i try to pull up any patches under the legacy/logic folder, theres nothing there. Is there something you did specifically to have these in your daw?

FINALLY found someone who speaks in layman’s terms. So many computer geeks on UA-cam. Thanks for keeping it real, conversational and informative.
THE VERY BEST TUTORIAL for Mainstage I’ve come across after reviewing five others. Thank you!

Can you post a video that explains how to properly assign different patches to different keyboards when playing live?
Dude! What’s that modulation you keep playing? Super cool!
