    I've an SKX013. I foolishly bought it on the rubber strap. I've a couple strapcodes and leathers and NATOs for it. It is one of my favorite watches. Because of this video I ordered an OEM jubilee bracelet for it, because I want to see what all the hype is about. I've heard so many people commending the glory of this comfy, flimsy, rattly thing, I have to see for myself. Great video. Keep it up.

    Yeah I’m going either SS Mesh or the SS Jubilee on my Seiko 5 Super Cub.

    I agree. I put my skx009j on a stock Seiko jubilee. Looks great. Feels great. Would be sweet if someone designed a solid direct replacement for the hollow end-link that comes with the stock jubilee. T'would be glorious.

    Agreed that the rattly flexible stock jubilee is incredibly comfortable to wear, better than most metal bracelets :)

    Stock jubilee is the best. Nicely done Rob.

      Thanks. The stock bracelet has a certain charm to it.

    This was quite helpful. I always wondered why I wasn’t too enamored with my Strapcode Super Oyster. The Uncle Seiko looks to be the better option for bracelets.

    I have a ton of bracelets from strapcode (super jubilee (skx007), super jubilee (turtle), super oyster, super engineer 2, 20mm mesh, 22mm mesh, pvd endmill, SS endmill) and after a while I have stopped using every single one of them on all of my watches, they just aren't worth the cost imho and there are much better options out there to match whichever watch better aesthetically. These bracelets of mine are just gathering dust in my watch-strap box. I have found that Seiko's stock bracelets to work really well design wise with the overall design language of the watch, Seiko clearly knows what it is doing. The stock bracelet of the skx is extremely comfortable but unfortunately there is a small gap between the end link and the lugs on mine and that gap drove me nuts so I didn't use it, I wish the endlinks were solid. The best straps for the skx imho beyond the stock jubilee is the M22 Waffle strap from the ebay seller nato9boutique(this strap is a 22mm version of the rubber strap on the marinemaster and the style suits the skx really well), and the other strap that works well is a quality bond nato.

      Johan Chandy the one strapcode I bought for my skx009........fell apart with first week.The clasp pin fell out...had to replace with a piece of hard wire and polished tips so would not dig into my wrist.I still wear it but get pissed when I see the wire.....should not have to repair that soon👎🏻

      Johan Chandy i experienced the loosen gap at endlink n lug and i fixed it by using plier. I simply tighten til the like i wan it to be. It is very comfortable. Will keep it for sure without spending money for other solid version.

    Good point about extended lug width size. Stock jubilee is the best. Light and smaller links contour around the wrist better for great comfort. It also looks unique and also has a retro & modern mix look that I like. Rattling? Can't hear it when correctly fitted on wrist. Hollow center links? Not noticeable. It looks solid on my wrist. Gotta look real close and look for it to notice. Original jubilee is great.... I purchased a couple nato straps which really look awesome. Still tempted by the oyster because I like to swap bands and change styles and colors.

    Have a miltat strapcode Retro Razor with Seiko MM300 steel ratchet clasp on my Skx009. I know this is probably the most expensive option but for a tool watch, which is really used as a tool watch, it was also the most useful on work, comfortable and solid option available.

    Fantastic video. I've always thought the Super Jubilee looked goofy as heck. I'm wearing my SKX on a Super Oyster as I type this, and it's a great bracelet. I think the Super Oyster is the best-looking of Miltat's bracelets. Good ideas in here.Check the 3D Oyster if you don't like the look of the Super. I appreciate the attention to detail in your talks and not your video presentation, Rob.

    I thought I was alone in my opinion regarding its “extended lug to lug” . I agree 100%. Besides it’s extended look and feel, the styling and contour of the end link looks fake. I would rather keep the stock jubilee hollow ends than solid extended end. Great explanation and great video Rob!

    Brilliant vid!
    Exactly how I feel about the Strapcode bracelets (dont wear it anymore), I had one didnt like the Clasp, installed it on the MM300 clasp. Overall great but makes it super bulky.
    Really prefer OEM or Uncle Seiko Vintage style ones, much more thin and Classic.

      when you install a strap strap engineer, super-angus or better, a retrorazer on a MM300 steel clasp ... it's not to prettier but to have a higher quality and strength. Yes my watch is heavier than a simple fancy bracelet but honestly, this watch is not a fashion accessory, it is a working tool.

    Just today I got my Super Oyster from Strapcode in the mail and put it on my 007. Loving the modern look. Interestingly what I have is the latest version called 3D Oyster where the endlink has a center portion more protruding to give it an independent pivot look even though it does not pivot. Look at pics comparing old oyster to 3D oyster. By the way the stock bracelet was a pain to get off. Seiko's shoulderless spring bars are evil. Cheers.

    Thanks for the in-dept views, very clear. I think the Heimdallr/Sharkey SKX comes with an oyster style bracelet with the type of end link that you'd like. Not sure how good or bad the bracelet is, but it might be worth to take a look at if you still want something like that. Cheers!

  • @Leec_1972

    Just saw this now. Indeed the earlier Strapcode Oyster has an independent center link that pivots both in the end link and the first link in the bracelet.

    Spot on Rob, I sold 3 Strapcode bracelets a Jubilee, an Angus Jubilee and an Endmill cause the end links were too long and goofy looking
    Not my cup o tea!

    Great video! The stock jubilee as far as wrist fitment should be used as a model for oyster style bracelets. As the stock jubilee falls flat against the case back, it's so much more wearable all day.

  • @MrBacchus18
    @MrBacchus18 7 років тому +2

    Lots of good info Rob. I'll probably stick with stock jubilee (so comfy). And super oyster from strapcode(don't care about extending the lug to lug.). Btw best upgrade to skx if you are doing strap changes are upgraded spring bars - saves so much hassle.

    I have one problem with the strap code super oyster, it is that it it makes it much easier to pull the spring bars out, when lightly pulling on the bracelet to adjust the watch on my wrist. This happens with both the seiko spring bars, and the ones provided with the super oyster bracelet.

    Thumbs up ! Nice guide of bracelets. I like uncleseikos bracelet more than strapcode. Presindent bracelet =Endmill. There is definitly winner uncleseiko beacase of nice and better endlinks. Uncleseiko oyster compare to strapcode have "only" pine typ adjusment, Strapcode oyster have screw type adjustment which i prefer on custom bracelets

    "Solid endlinks or bust" is one of the edicts of watch nerds that I wish would die (along with "quartz sucks!"). There is nothing wrong with hollow end links. I have a feeling people just say they're bad because that's what they hear and read all the time from other watch nerds. It's just not true.

    • @whatsthebigfndeal
      @whatsthebigfndeal 5 років тому +2

      I completely agree. I couldn't care less about solid end links. They're a pain in the butt to change, they add extra weight and they usually stick out more than the hollow ones. I'm not really sure why they became such a big deal.

    Has anyone ever told you that you sound like Badger from Breaking Bad? :')
    Anyway aside from that point, I have an Oyster bracelet on my SKX007 which looks great and I also have a few Natos that I got 4 on Amazon for just £14, great quality too. Currently looking for a nice diver strap too but I'm not sure who to go with. I've been looking at Crafter.

    Now if they made a strapcode for box G shocks that would be something. Maybe in black PVD. It would def kill the combi bracelet.
