Thanks! There are different tempo settings on volcas: 1/1 1/2, 1/4 but it doesn't affect sync. You can set one to play 1/1 and the other to 1/4, but both volcas will be synced. You may also look at my secret sync trick in this video: ua-cam.com/video/zSbueTShmnw/v-deo.html

I see, I think it's because volcas tempo settings. FM goes with normal tempo, left keys two times slower and right keys four times slower. Left volca keys also uses 12 steps instead 16, that creates interesting polyrhythm effect. But they are all synced together.

In general it depends on the budget and goals, but I think Volca Keys will be a good starting point.
