My dad is a great fan of Bismillah Khan . Really he should be saluted for his shehnai. I always pray to God that he should take another birth in India again . On this Republic Day he should be given a tribute he was the first Indian to play his shehnai from Red Fort

What a great man we have had who spent his whole life for the music and love among the people and the nations but remained unattended by the government and lived as the poor for the life time as I have seen his home .
Only and only Ustad Bismila khan and no one else will become like him.Very simple human being and talented came on earth and gone

As long as sun, moon and stars are shining in universe ustad bismillah khan goin to live in every Indians hearts
I heard Pandit Jasraj speaking about Ustad Bismillah Khan 'inke bareme kuchhbhi kahna 'surajko diya dikhana hoga '. I had an opportunity to touch his feet and he obliged me and his admirers at Rourkela by playing raag sudhkalyan. I enjoyed the precious moment of more than one hour. He was not only the greatest Indian musician he was an exemplary personality.
My Father(Late Pt Ramni Mohan Ghosh; --1914 - 1997--; - Disciple/Shishya of Pt Raghu Jha of Bihar State of India) was a Classical Vocal Singer. He always used to tell me the Story of Ustad Bismillah Khan. He heard the Ustad's Shehnai Recital FIRST TIME WHEN USTAD G WAS at the age of 13 years in an All India Music Conferrence in 1933. -------- I always hear Ustad G's Shehnai daily in the Morning & always TEARS IN MY EYES. In my views, I thought that HE WAS NOT POOR BUT SO RICH IN THE FILED OF INDIAN MUSIC.................. Udai Shanker Ghosh ... kota - Raj - India.
Ustad Bismillah Khan was born on 21 March 1916 and passed away on 21 August 2006. ) Born as Qamaruddin Khan he was India's greatest maestro with the Shehnai.

I love this Shehnai. It is a power transforming and even mystical experience. During my early years in ISKCON this music was played over the loudspeakers at the L.A. Temple of New Dvaraka at sunrise while devotees chanted the Holy Names quietly on their japa beads. So sweet.

All other instruments and masters had gharana, heritage, but this great man probably single handedly made this instrument divine, my knowledge is very limited but at least I don't know any name before him played shehnai to accomplish ragas with sublime and divine presentation
Once upon a time marriage was incomplete without his shehnai but today marriage is incomplete without Mika song, so unfortunate...
But in bengali marriages 98% people play this shehnai

with being renowned he was very humble. He started his career by playing Shenai at the Bhairavi Mandir in Banaras !!
Whenever he was in Banaras and was free, he'd go to the Bhairavi Mandir as he did earlier and played shehnai, people would ask him as to why he still go there and play it free. He said at this Mandir I started my career and I feel great when I am here and play shehnai !!!!!!!!!

We know that Creater is always considered as God, Late Ustad Bismillah Khan is the Creater of Shehnai Player in Pure Hindustani Classical Music. He rosed the Folk-Instrument - Shehnai to so high level in the sky of Classical Music Field where only Classical Singers are on the top, Sitar Players are on the Top, Just like Pt Panna Lal Ghosh who was the Creater of Flute Singer in Pure Classical Form First time in India. Every One who give the world any thing best in first time was always the incarnation of God, I thought so. .......................... Sat-Sat Pranaam to all those high achieved Artist. ...........
