I heard the Bunnymen with young ears so long ago......now I hear this group with old ears ......but the music they play and how they attack it ....I AM REBORN!
Nice job - a bit weird hearing this : When everyone was raving about U2 back in the very early 80's, I said " They're just an Irish imitation of Echo The Bunnymen " ( WTF did I know ? lol ) I still think the Bunnymen were a far better band and I saw them both live a few times in their early days. The best cover of this song I have heard was by my friend Ed Bannard's band Hymn : love this sound check version : ua-cam.com/video/Zyhps8sSuYA/v-deo.html
@@petecole Yes, I heard about the asthma. Funny how names come about. It's a really great name though and I like the fact that they dropped the " THE " - it works far better as just Inhaler. I remember when me and my songwriting partner from the 80's / 90's were thinking of a new name for our latest band. We had a lyric book that Steve ( my pal ) used to scribble in. I asked him once what the tiny disheveled bird was supposed to be, which he had scribbled onto a clean page in the book, He said, proudly " It's a peacock " I cracked up laughing every time I saw it so I said " We have to be called The Peacock Page :-) We used that name for more than 10 years and nobody ever asked where it came from lol : From about 1995 ish : ua-cam.com/video/h3NzkxkedVc/v-deo.html
i don’t really think elijah gets into the proper groove till the second verse. but that being said it is very good. Echo’s was better but that’s usually expected with covers
Interesting considering McCulloch very famously and publicly spoke out against U2 (jealousy one presumes) and in particular had some vicious vitriol for Bono - I like this cover although it lacks the haunting quality of the original!
@@niamhbutler6818 perhaps he did but McCulloch (until his apology) HATED Bono www.independent.ie/entertainment/music/echo-and-the-bunnymens-ian-mcculloch-lets-rip-26774781.html - as you can see he referred to him as "Nobbo" and he actually called him a "c*nt" - regardless of what Bono felt (and my original comment focussed on McCulloch's view only - so I am puzzled as to your point!) MY POINT still stands!

you know the connection with Inhaler and U2 I assume?

@@PeteAxeShields it’s not about the asthma The lead singer for inhaler is Bono’s son Elijah Hewson
@@mysticedge4 I know that ! 👍

Nice mellow version but too much writing talent of their own to be doing covers at this point.
Although I like their choices

@Giniminimanemo cuz U2 got way bigger than Echo ever did
actually Bono said McColloch is a very talented artist and was heavily inspired by them. And to my knowledge Ian said the same.
