Watch Steve and Karen from metro radio introduce and chat to Sam Fender live on stage before he counts down to turn on the lights. Where the stage is, you can't see the actual lights but you can see some fireworks light up from above the stage.

For some reason this year they moved the stage on to Blackett street next to Old Eldon Square, where you can't see the lights being switched on. They were switched on, you just couldn't see it.
