I can see it was a fairly big complex Glen. There was a lot of priory building in the 11th C. The Norman invasion made way for all them French monks. Thanks for sharing bro. All the best. Mark

Hi Mark yes it looked rather a large area , it would have been great to see it how it used to look though, there was a lot of Monasteries throughout Yorkshire, those French Monks must have liked it up here, anyway thanks for watching and commenting Mark and atb mate. Cheers Glenn 👍

@@glennswalks7693 Yeah, it was a good size Glen - would have been a hive in its day. Ha, for sure they liked it down here too.

Fantastic. Thanks for this Glenn. It's on my 'to visit' on a route for this year all being well, like being drawn in to some kind of pilgrimage.
When I was at school (infants) and we visited Kirkstall Abbey, I couldn't understand why they had lawns in their living quarters? lol I later got a 'U' (ungraded) in GCSE O level history , 😢😢but made up for it since then.👍👍

Hi Nick thanks for watching and commenting mate, yeah I’ve been to Kirkstall Abbey a long time ago that could be another Vlog in the future, when I was at School I dropped History as a Subject for my GCSE’s but I love learning about it now , I hope to see you out and about this year. atb mate for 2024 Cheers Glenn 👍
