    First off, apologies for the poor quality audio in places. This was the first time with my new mic and camera and I had the mic sensitivity set too high.
    The BP Highway is a 160km road the joins the Kathmandu valley to the southern regions of Nepal.
    The road was built by the Japanese and took nearly 20 years to complete.
    Sadly, due to the fuel crisis, we only had on tank of fuel, so we didn't get the chance to check out the whole road. This was a great shame as the road became more interesting the further down it we traveled.
    Had to break this video into parts as there's too much footage.

    Despite the noise, I enjoyed watching the thrill. Revived past memories when I rode on this road. Reached upto Nepalthok. Thnks for reviving the memories!! Excited to see more videos.

      +Sudeep Adhikari Thanks. Part 2 is up. More vids to come. I do eventually sort the audio out in some of my newer videos, but yeah, the wind noise is quite annoying in some of these vids, so apologies for that.

      +Avijat Niroula Yeah, I hear the best part of the road is further south. I'm planning on coming back someday to do this road properly and hopefully with a better bike. The road got better the further down it we traveled. It sucks we had to turn around just as things were getting interesting. I have unfinished business with this road!

    Man you should have landed a 390. Those things are lethal with the Metzelers :D

    • @benniehitchcock
      @benniehitchcock  8 років тому

      couldn't find one in time. this was all I could get. we also worked out that if I had the 390, I would have only been able to check out one third of this road as I would have used a lot more fuel. I have ridden the 390 before though. The metzelers make all the difference

    • @vacateistheword
      @vacateistheword 8 років тому +1

      yeah, brilliant tyres :) pretty sure you would have ripped that stretch up on one of those haha. you went real quick on the 200 too !

    • @benniehitchcock
      @benniehitchcock  8 років тому

      +VedderTheFixer This 200 was a bit fucked. Pissing coolant everywhere, bent handlebars, down on power and knackered tyres. Still a heck of a lot of fun thrashing the pants of that little thing though! But yeah, some more power would be nice!

    • @vacateistheword
      @vacateistheword 8 років тому

      Damn, i can imagine ! Nice lil stonker of a bike, the 200. I ride a 390 everyday in city traffic and it struggles. The 200 is much nicer that way.

    How did you find the bikes? they look like a lot of fun.

    • @benniehitchcock
      @benniehitchcock  8 років тому

      +benjahnz I've ridden the Duke a few time before, so I'm pretty familiar with it. Even though this bike wasn't in good condition and was down on power, it's still a real fun bike to ride. One of the best handling bikes in Nepal I reckon. The duke 200 just needs a good set of tyres and a better set of brake pads I reckon.

      I was only there for December. Hoping to make it back later in the year. Maybe November if all goes well. Can't wait to ride this road again. Hopefully with a well sorted bike next time. 390 Duke is a fantastic little bike! Perfect for this road ;)

    is the tyre on your duke is the after market one..Stock mrf tyre has decent grip
    How many kms did you travel one way?

    • @benniehitchcock
      @benniehitchcock  8 років тому

      Nope, it's the stock mrf fitted to this bike. I used to work as a salesman at a Ktm dealership, so I'm familiar with the mrf tires. They have a flat profile and a hard compound so they don't grip very well compared to a good brand like Dunlop or metzeler. my friends Duke had Dunlop's fitted. Much better for this bike. Even the Ktm rep I spoke to admitted the mrf tires were put on the bike from the factory just to cut cost, not because they're any good.

    good stuff mate.. any chance of getting rid of the wind noise?

    • @benniehitchcock
      @benniehitchcock  8 років тому

      +Hing holo Not much I can do about the wind noise now. It was a new mic and I had the sensitivity set too high. Kinda annoying I know.

  • @roshitshrestha6957
    @roshitshrestha6957 8 років тому

    some good background music would prevent that wind noise..

    • @benniehitchcock
      @benniehitchcock  8 років тому

      +roshit stha No amount of music can stop the wind! Turning the mic sensitivity helps though. Sorted it in later vids ;)

      It was just an opinion never mind
      i enjoyed all three part which is good
      but 2nd and third part i was playing music along with video it sounded good..

    • @benniehitchcock
      @benniehitchcock  8 років тому

      Thanks. The 2nd part was my favorite. Sadly the Duke isn't a great sounding bike, so maybe next time I will put some music over the top! ;)

      You'll notice there's plenty of times in my videos where I'm not talking. Fear has nothing to do with it. Just enjoying the moment and concentrating. I came to this road to have fun, not to spend all my time thinking of interesting things to say for the camera.
