  • In this video we will be going over how to design an MTM or TMM crossover (2 mids and a tweeter). We will also show you how to add a basic notch filter to get your frequency response where it needs to be. Download PCD for free: audio.claub.net...

Would like to see a design of a 2.5 way, using the.5 woofer/mid. for BSC.

Hi! i'm a big fan of your videos. Could you du a Quarter-wave pipe or tapped horn build? I have personally build about 12 of these box designs and they are totally awesome! It would be fun to see a project build with the GRS 10sw-4 that you built a 20 hertz tuned box for. Cheers Benjamin.

Benjamin, I'll see what I can do. I have a few videos coming out shortly, that are subwoofer based, maybe when they are finished I can

Could you build a notch filter with a potentiometer or is this just an EQ?

    Love this series!
Any chance you could do a vid on proper measurement techniques, and how to prove that your measurements are actually correct? For example, I've got a Dayton UMM6 mic from PE, with a response file, going into REW. I can set up my rig either indoors, or outside, and measure some speakers with a well known curve; yet my results are nowhere near correct. I even hooked up a pair of powered studio monitors (to take the amp out of the equation) and the results on my graph were absolutely horrible! I'm talking like a ~20dB drop from 100Hz to 15kHz, which is definitely not what the speakers are actually doing. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong.

I can take a look at doing that. A few quick ideas for you. How far away is the mic? Where do you have the mic pointed? Press check levels and see what you are getting. Also check to make sure you did not change your level DBFS (-12)

That would be awesome if you could. Ultimately, I'm gathering the proper way to design a speaker is to take measurements with your drivers in the box (takes into account BSD, diffusion, resonances, box tuning, etc...), turn them into your own FRD/ZMA files, import those into your XO program, and build the XO on that. All of which revolve around your measurements actually being correct and mine are definitely not. lol
The mic was 1 meter away and was poined between the tweeter on top and the woofer on the bottom. I checked the levels each time and adjusted as needed. I can't say I know what the DBFS is though, but I didn't change any setting from stock - just loaded up the calibration file, verified it was using my dayton mic, checked the levels, input my desired frequency range, did 2 sweeps, and facepalmed when I saw the resulting graph.

It sounds like you might be clipping the mic or the right microphone isn't selected (ie it is trying to use your built-in mic on your laptop). You can check that under preferences. If it is clipping the mic, it mean you have it up way too loud and need to turn the volume down considerably. I'm sure you've done this, but this may help: www.minidsp.com/applications/acoustic-measurements/umik-1-setup-with-rew

It shouldn't be anywhere near clipping, but I'll check on that. I did everything in that guide, but my "+/-2dB" monitors are showing similar to the +/-10 shown in the guide. I'll fiddle with it some more this weekend, or next week sometime.

Alright. I'll try to get a video out as soon as I can. I am just pretty booked. You may also want to check with Impulse Audio, he may be able to get a video out sooner than I can. I know that must be frustrating.

Do you have a website or other way to contact you besides the public posts? I need help with passive crossover design.
