Jamming with a cheap Guitar: Torchy (Bell, Memphis, etc., Matsumoku)

Yupp, even a cheap guitar can sing! This one was made by Matsumoku - produced for different trading-companys. This model was sold as "Torchy", "Bell", "Memphis" and other names. Pricewise ment as an instrument for beginners, it is a good guitar. The Hardware is not A+ but it is very well handcrafted. Hope you like the Video! Rock on!

I think they all came from the same manufacturer. They were at the lower end of the price range for electric guitars back then. From today's perspective, but still not super cheap. At that time they cost 600 marks / 300 euros, which was not a small amount in the first half of the 80s...

I have one of these.. bought here in Germany for few bucks but she have an overdrive pedal build in... i think is absolutely the best guitar i own.... ist branded eastwood.... in Germany is possible find often some good bargains.... ciao von Wiesbaden, Paolo

Most guitars even entry-level ones made by Matsumoku are very good playing/sounding instruments. I am picking up a Memphis MG100F today for 100$ while I wait to go get it I'm looking at videos with similar guitars in it. The one I'm buying looks to have some Bill Lawrence style pickups but I have no idea yet if they're actual B Lawrence's. The body is made up of different colored woods. Maple and Walnut and mahogany is my guess.
