My Granny was born in 1923, My Grandfather in 1930. I love the old cars and the stories they told too. I was an odd child, I was always more interested in listening to the older generation speak, than I was with playing with kid's my age. I have never missed them more than I do, at my age today. I love your stories Granny Pat..You give many of us so much more comfort than you realize. Every one of your stories are unique and interesting. Truly gifts from the heart. I count you as one of my blessings and I wait every day for another story. I hope you are enjoying your weekend 😊 We love you dearly, Sweet Lady! Tennessee ❤
In the mid 70's, my Dad bought a restored 1928 Model A Ford. It did have a back seat, but not a rumble seat. However, our neighbor had one with a rumble seat. The were both members in our local Antique Auto Association. Not only did I get to ride in the Model A, but drove it one up and down our street, and it was my husband's and my "getaway car" from our wedding in 1991. He sold it in 1996. The end of an era...
Absolutely! My father loved cars and my sister and I inherited his cars. We still own a 1926 Model T and a 1927 touring car. In my driveway is my fathers favorite car was 1941 Chevy. I can remember being 7 or so and we would ride in one of his old cars for a Sunday drive.
My grandpa had one! My mom born in 1935 rode in the back in the rumble seat! She & her twin sister (Ada & Ida) were so embarrassed! Everyone had a newer car! Not Grandpa! Plus with WWII going on you couldn't even buy tires! Enjoyed your video! Love ya!❤❤❤
Great story Granny Pat. What a nice memory of the Model A and the Jockey and the crush on your sister. My uncle had a Model A ford but I never rode in the rumble seat. I remember sitting in the tiny front seat between my aunt and uncle on the way to the circus when I was about 5 years old.
Remember those old cars with rumble seats. In the late forty’s my moms brother ‘s bought one together. Brought it out on the Fourth of July and took us all for a ride. It was a wonderful memory . I enjoyed the ride in that car I was just a youngster at the time. You have a great night. Thank you for sharing.😊
My mom used to tell us about one of her uncles driving around in a Model T Ford. One time he let her and her brother drive around in it. In a field. One of her favorite memories.
I can't say that I've ever ridden in a Model A rumble seat, but i can say the I've had the distinct pleasure of riding in a 1926 Model T many many times! You see my daddy, who was born in 1926 and with only an 8th grade education could build or fix absolutely anything!! Yes, he built our Model T from bits n pieces n parts n things that he would find here n there! It turned out beautiful... shiny black. When dad brought it out to ride around town in... we were the star of the neighborhood! Each and every child got a ride. We also got to ride in all the parades in holiday celebrations. Ohhh what fun we had in that 1926 Model T! 😊❤😍
Yep, I have one just like it in my garage. Rumble seat and all. The inside mohair seat is not large either. Mine is a very dark purplish blue. With a black vinyl top and apron type thing over the front window.
@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 They are tiny inside. It is more of a garage museum piece. We never drive it. My hubby hates it, and they did not have power anything. I can not do the manual brakes and steering, I am not strong enough. I refuse to sell it. It has been in my family since the 70's. We are the 2nd owners. It has the historical and original Oregon plates.
@HELENGodLoves So far, our youngest wants to put a different engine in it. Since I feel that would be wrong. It is still in our garage. He is the mechanical genius in the family. Eventually, I will probably have to give it to him. I just don't feel it should be altered.
Ma'am you are national treasure I'm so happy i found you on here this 60 yr old grandma enjoyed listening to you talk. I have trouble remembering things because of my health. Another great story for the books. You're right. Most in Ky don't pay a lot of attn to the derby. I wait for it, hoping they will fix pot holes in the road in Frankfort . 😂
Good morning respected pat granny so nice and lovely 🌹 video today thanks for sharing i love you so much live you long time with the better health and wealth happiness and goodnesses with you all the time stay safe and happy good luck
I have never ridden in one. But when my late husband and I were first married, I was, 17. We were taking my husband’s Granny and her friend to South Georgia and we stopped at a filling station. There was a Model T there. Granny’s friend, Bill ask the owner of the station if he could show me the Model T and let me sit in it. The owner said yes. I will never forget this!!!!! Love you, Granny Pat❤️❤️
Hi Pat... Thanks for sharing your memories with me, it's so much fun. I'm 63 so I didn't ever get to ride in rumble seat, but when I see those beautiful old cars it always reminds of the Bonnie and Clyde movies I've seen, so Cool! I remember when I was very young, maybe about 6 years old, my Dad had a Studebaker car, actually I don't remember it very much, just that my Dad had one. Thanks for sharing this awesome memory. Love Kelly Winnipeg, Canad
Well, in answer to your question, no I never rode in a Model A Ford car. But I remember my Dad talking about their Model T. He grew up in the “country”, rural Virginia. He had 10 siblings and the family was very poor. But at some point they were able to purchase that car, which was probably used. Later, he and his brothers rigged it up to turn a big saw blade so they could cut their own lumber. I really enjoyed your story, Granny Pat…😄 ❤-Brenda
This is my first time watching your videos and I just love you.The first one I watched today was your meatloaf video then I watched this one. I loved the card that was sent to you because my daughter-in- law’s birthday is coming up and that would be something special I could send her. Also my name is Shelah like Judah’s son in the Old Testament. Know body ever spells my name correctly. I never knew anyone who spelled their name like me until I was in the 5th grade and I had a janitor and his name was Shelah and he spelled his name like mine.First time I ever knew of a man whose name was Shelah. That is when I found out it was a man’s name in the Bible. Oh well enough about the name Shelah.😊 I really enjoyed your talk about riding in that old car. I love your kitchen and your beautiful dishes.I am a lover of old antiques also.I am very sentimental also. I have things my parents gave me when I was in grade school. I will be watching your other videos.❤
Great story. My Papa had a T Model Ford. When I was a girl, I remember the old Model T was in a shed on his farm. It was black. I saw the rumble seat, but I never rode in it. I don’t think it ran anymore when I saw the car. Papa did not want to part with it. He did not sale it till he got sick.
You are a treasure chest of wonderful stories Granny Pat and we appreciate you sharing them all with us. I have never rode in a model T rumble seat but I have rode in a model T. I live in Michigan and we have a place called “The Henry Ford” or as we use to call it as kids, Greenfield Village. It’s a wonderful historical place that is set up as a village, with authentic homes and buildings that Henry Ford purchased and relocated here. I rode in one of the black model T cars throughout the village and it was a wonderful experience. Probably not as much fun as you had though. Thanks for the memories. 💕
Yes I have! When I was in my 20's I worked at a old burger joint for the lunch shift. We had regular customers that would come for lunch almost every day. On of my customers was a fiesty old guy in his 80's. (single cheeseburger with onion and ketchup and a chocolate malt)😊. I would chat with him about his day and his garden and just shoot the breeze until his burger was ready. Some times he drove a newer car and some nice days he drove his old Model T Ford (1920 something). It ran like a top. One summer day he pulled up in his T and I got the order put in as he pulled in. This day was different. My friend pulled up came in and hollered for my manager. When the manager came up to see what was the trouble. "Hang onto my burger for a bit... I am stealing your cashier for a while." Some how that old guy had found out it was my birthday and decided to take me for a ride in his car! My manager smiled and away I went! I had a nice drive around town for about an hour in the Model T! I remember how little that front seat was! I am in my 60's now. Best birthday surprise ever!
Never rode in a Model A Ford. Best I can do is remember riding in a 1939 Packard Touring Sedan. It was burgundy inside and out with what seemed like a velour interior. It was massive inside, very comfy, had a huge manual stick shifter, and reminded me of a living room sofa. That was a great story you told.
I sure miss Watching Anita Maddens Derby eve party . We used to watch it every Derby eve. We still watch the Derby coverage every year. But as you said it not as fascinating as it used to be. Ive been to Keenland but never Church hill Downs. I enjoyed it but Im not a gambler but I do enjoy seeing the Derby because it marks the opening of Summer events for me. Have a wonderful day Granny Pat. Keep your eye on Ashland Henry Clay estate will have all its beautiful peonies blooming soon. Take a day and go over the do some filming of the gardens. I may try to get up there this year if its not cold and rainy like it is some years when they are in full bloom. Have a wonderful day Granny Pat.
I have photos of the Henry Clay gardens. I live 3 blocks down the street. Jan worked for the Maddens. She also attended parties at the Madden home. I have been inside the house. Not plush like you would expect, just old. Anita was very friendly. I helped decorate for somebody’s campaign one fall. Anita never paid for anything!
I have some fond memories of driving in my Aunt’s Mini Cooper in the early sixties. It was so small amongst the huge cars around us like your first car after your husband left which made it a unique experience!🙏❤️🇨🇦
God bless you Pat. Can't appreciate you enough. Your a precious bright gem in a world of dimming light. Thank you so very much.🌻🙏. No, never got to ride in a rumble seat. But enjoyed your story tremendously.
My daddy had a model T Ford & I remember riding in that car. It did not have a rumble seat. I was born in 1945 & I was quite young when this occurred. He did not have the car for very long; it was his first car I think. You always have such interesting stories & I so enjoy listening to you tell them.
Loved this story. My grandfather ran race horses at Santa Anita track in California. My mom was a teenage girl during this time. I heard wonderful stories and saw great photos. Thanks for your memories.
Hi Granny Pat! Great video. You do have a treasure chest of wonderful memories . I bet it was glorious riding in that Model A rumble seat. La De Dah!!! Thanks for sharing the pic too. The Kentucky Derby is a site to behold. Ladies and gentlemen dressed to the nines. A great tradition. Your bouquet of flowers from Sheila is beautiful. A very nice gift for you. Take care, my friend. HUGS. ❤😊 Nancy from IN.
Enjoyed hearing about your ride in the rumble seat. As a child I bet that was better than riding in back of a truck. I would love to see little boy blue!
I loved hearing the story of you and your sister getting to ride in the rumble seat. I bet it was very bumpy of a ride!.....and quite breezy! Thanks for sharing your stories! God bless you!❤😊🎉 It was sweet of your friend to send you that card 🎉that turns into a container of 💐 🌹 🌸 flowers 💐!
You should Google George & see what happened to him. My grandfather loved the race horses, my grandparents would visit my aunt & uncle in Lexington & go to the races. We have a nice race track in Hot Springs AR, but not as grand as Churchill Downs. ❤
I tried to look up George Atkins, the jockey, on Google, and it pulled up someone. It makes me wonder if that was your sister's admirer. I read a quote today that said "sometimes it's the smallest things that you never think about that become your biggest memories". Your story reminded me of that quote. I love your stories. Please keep telling us the stories of your past and growing up.❤ Nostalgia is what I live for.
Never rode in a model A. Nor a model T. One of my ex husbands relatives had a model T. They let the kids ride in it for the 4th of July get together. . Just write things down you remember you want to tell you tube and the date you thought of it so you can tell us when you want,
Always all those in the parades and everything in my house from a high school when we watch have parade today what I'll be always be a one one kind of truck or two I don't know anyway they were old ones
Granny Pat..could yiu tell me if you have blood sugar problems..as in Diabetes? I have and i can't eat most of what you make, so i was wondering if you have to limit your carbs?
Last night I couldn’t sleep. Pulled up UA-cam on my phone and you popped up first. I put my earbuds in and listened. What a nice memory of the car ride. Your neighbor sounded like he was a good man at heart but alcohol stole his life The flower bouquet is so pretty! Wonder whatever happened to the jockey? Hope he had a good life. Thanks G. Pat for your chat...afterwards I fell right to sleep. 🌷🕊🌿Cheri from IL
Granny Pat I enjoyed your Model A story tonight. When I was growing up they were in the past, but I would see one every now and then if there was a car show anywhere near. I always wished I could ride in the rumble seat!! Thank you for sharing your precious memories 😊❤😊❤🎉
Hope you're doing well and this day finds you doing well and moving and walking and having a good day watch the puzzles watch the paper dolls my dear I enjoyed all that
Also what you cooking the hamburgers sing the chicken the way you debone it in the bag I saw that I'm up with some amazed how quickly and easy that seem to be for you to remove and how much chicken you got when you finish with it
I love your stories, and it’s so great that you still can remember all those things. Lots of people much younger don’t remember like you do.
Dropping later-night videos from you always make me happy. We don't have a sleep schedule anymore. ❤

You should Google George & see what happened to him. My grandfather loved the race horses, my grandparents would visit my aunt & uncle in Lexington & go to the races. We have a nice race track in Hot Springs AR, but not as grand as Churchill Downs. ❤
Granny Pat I am a nightowl so I enjoy your late night videos!!❤
That was a beautiful story
Very pretty
I have a picture of my great grandfather Jacob in Pennsylvania riding one Granny Pat

❤️❤️❤️
I absolutely loved this story! It would be nice if someone who knows George or his family can reconnect with you. ❤
That would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.
@@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 well you never know with social media! 🙏🏼💙
We have a Model A ❤
I tried to look up George Atkins, the jockey, on Google, and it pulled up someone.
Sweet story.

Granny Pat..could yiu tell me if you have blood sugar problems..as in Diabetes? I have and i can't eat most of what you make, so i was wondering if you have to limit your carbs?
Pre-diabetic. Watchnthe sugar!
Pretty picture of you with flowers. ♥️♥️
🌻🌹💮🌼🏵🌷💐💐💐❤❤❤
Sing the cars but never ridden in the cars
I have seen cars of older older cars but I've never ridden in older cars
When I speak sometimes it puts the words it hears but it don't put words I say in there like it's supposed to
Hope you're doing well and this day finds you doing well and moving and walking and having a good day watch the puzzles watch the paper dolls my dear I enjoyed all that
Also what you cooking the hamburgers sing the chicken the way you debone it in the bag I saw that I'm up with some amazed how quickly and easy that seem to be for you to remove and how much chicken you got when you finish with it
Thank you Granny Pat for being such a blessing blessing to me I enjoy watching you all the time
