I love The Sarantine Mosaic! The way he describes art and legacy in unrivaled, the way he describes anything really. The narrative is perfectly structured and he made me fall in love with the Byzantine Empire. Valerius and Alixana - who are based on Justinian I and Theodora - stole the show and are wonderfully written. Every scene with these two blew my mind. I love this duology, and I love GGK!
I just picked up Last Light of the Sun at a thrift store. Looking forward to reading it. I have read the Tapestry trilogy and Under Heaven. His prose is so beautiful.
