Andy literally was in the water at one point. Forget going anywhere near the water with a wheeled ZTR. Never run an Altoz before but from what I heard, the tracks give you tremendous traction as well as flotation. Similar to that of a tracked skid steer. Awesome video, Stan. Loved the daring action!

    • @Hillsidelanscapemanagement

Traction, yes. Flotation? Not so much. The machine is very heavy. At least the TSX is heavy, I can't speak to the TRX

@@jeremynguyen2346 for manicured lawns? Out probably isn't the best choice, even with the straight blade attachment. The do have a side discharge deck available that would make it better for manicured lawns, however, the track system would require a user with skills and patience to avoid tearing up the turf.
Altoz makes a wheeled ZTR that is better suited for manicured properties and it is certainly less expensive
If you'd be using the TSX for a dual purpose, then, yes, you could use it on a manicured lawns as well as in overgrowth to avoid the purchase of two machines

My brother has one of these mowers. His is two years old. There have been a few issues. They updated the track guides as he was throwing tracks when mowing his road ditch. That seemed to stop that issue. He now has an electrical issue dealing with the mower deck clutch. He says it is like all other equipment in that it has pros and cons.

The Altoz Snow Blower would be a game changer. Something with a knob that the operator could easily control the direction the snow was blown off to. And lots of lights so it could clear commercial walkways at night. Then roll up on to the trailer when the job is done and back to the barn or shop or shipping container for dry supper dupper double secure storage. Safe from those malfeasants. ;-)~

Delivered a nice even cut, has the super tight turning ability ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend I was looking for, and is just a blast to drive. It takes a little bit to get used to driving one after driving a normal tractor style, but once you've got it, you've got it. If you're cutting lines, you have to be careful spinning the mower around or the back tire will dig a bare spot. Just take it nice and slow during the turn and then it's back to full throttle across the yard!

I was using a Cat 966D loader moving gravel to a area that needed to be built up. It was probably my 12th time across this preticular spot when it all of sudden seemed to sink. I opened the cab door and walked straight out onto the level ground towards the ditch. That was when I realized I hit quick sand or a massive sink hole. I ran across the street to a neighboring construction site that had just as big equipment and got a dozer operator and excavator operator to help dig and pull this loader out. It took a D9 Cat and a Cat 345 excavator to pull that 966 out. Then it took 22 loads, of rip rap 16 loads of 5 inch, then 10 loads of 2 inch then 8 loads of ABC. The Boss was estaic that we saved the 966 but he couldn't believe that the core drilling company missed such a large hole. A couple of times we almost lost a couple of dump trucks in the hole while we filled it.

We have two of them for the last five seasons, nothing will touch them in soft, rough terrane. They both have the 66" finishing decks and give a great cut. They need big properties and the rougher the better. they can cut residential, but you need a good operator on the turns. We mainly run them is spring and early summer when it's too wet for our normal ZTR's. Where normal mowers get stuck these go through like no mud at all. In five seasons the only issue we had was sticks getting in the deck belts and breaking them, we added a front shield on top of deck in front of the belt after the first season and never a problem. Tracks have never even been adjusted.

I'm "just a girl" but even I know that was impressive. You made a new friend in the same line of work. That can never hurt. You both have very high standards with the man hours to back it up. Great video..

I could see some municipal applications. Like mowing along walking trails and holding ponds that only get mowed a couple times a year.

@Stanley "Dirt Monkey" Genadek I was waiting to see this video before tipping my hand to high growth cutter style.
I prefer flail mower type, have you ever done a video on the Ferris?
I'm going to be finishing up my own hydro walk behind, flail mower out of crap laying around.
2 passes on 3-4ft growth leaves it almost perfect, and mulches down to nothing.
      Glass bottles get smashed.
Plastic bottles come out in thin strips 3-4 inches long

true- bit most start at $50,000. Thats starting to really stretch it just to make tall grass short on a hill.

I've wanted an Altoz for the past two years, but truly can't pull the trigger on another combustion engine (in my 60s). They will do electric as soon as solid-state tech is standard. Great share!

The really old riding mowers or older zero turn mowers all had really insane traction compared to the new stuff now they care about the blade spin and other stuff witch isn't bad for most ppl but when I'm going up a slight incline and the tires are spinning all the way up the hill it doesn't work so good lol like if I get on my old riding mower from my great grandfather thing can climb anything and it can pull a plow behind it and it's no bigger than a zero turn and it can cut grass just fine maybe the blades don't go as fast and it gets the job done and looks no different other than it doesn't mess up the grass when I go up hill. I just wish they would stop making stuff so complected when it worked fine 100 years ago. But great video guys

If I was the marketing director, you would be going home with the trailer and both units. Start an annual raffle promotion during fall harvest events. Send in new models every year. Set this year's price on the raffle value. Use raffle proceeds 50% more units to give away and 50% in community donations. Have fun guys.
    Hell of a product.

Add demos on jobs and you will get free operators. Also offer 30 min demos remote by client. Charge 0$150.00 / hr. 2 hour minimum. Would be a great annual service business to sell off. Split rentals 1/3 Business, equipment payment, labor fuel. You will have a hell of a draw on each jobsite. Get realtor post with water tight area for brochures with before and after photos with ads. Plant free ads every where you can.

It would be nice to see the finished "product".. one mans 6 inch heighth isanother mans 12 inches. Plus, do these really cut and chop, or does it whack, crimp, and bend it over? It would be interesting to see the mower go through the grass first, see what the deck knocks over, without the blades turning, then start them spinning again. Plus, I'd like to see the PTO switch response times when cutting (on/off/stop)

From what I've seen in another real world mower test, the all-terrain deck would be good for anyone mowing blighted properties. One of the places we mow is very hilly and rough so it might do well when hooked with the finish deck. Accessories look decent for a midmount ZTR. A question I have though is, how easy can the decks be changed out? Think they'll develop a front mount version to compete with Grasshopper?

    • @Dirtmonkey
      @Dirtmonkey  3 роки тому +6

They say the decks swap in 20 minutes
