My dad fought in WW2, he joined up in 1939 aged 19. I KNOW he would still fight for our country, and I'm sure he's looking down, worrying about my 90 year old mum, (who was a child in WW2), and his 3 daughters and son, and he's worrying sick about us. Another guy was running around with a sword in London, and it won't be the last. I'm terrified, and our Gov do absolutely nothing, but let more and more come here every flaming day. Obviously they're a massive threat to us, because they throw away their papers. If they were good people, they wouldn't need to dispose of the papers. When is this horror going to end. It's extremely frightening.

Since 11/11/23 I have worn a poppy on all my coats and backpack. Even my two Yorkies wear poppies on their harnesses. To me it is a permanent reminder of what these Great Men, Women & Animals did for the freedom of our country and I will continue to wear them every day. Don't just wear them for a day, wear them permanently as a sign that we honour them and will never forget them.
Lost my dog a few year back a greyhound x saluki and without fail I always attached a huge poppy on her collar. I'm one of those that wears it until it falls apart usually in January 😊 respect
That's why I have one permanently on the car. And poppy stickers on my front door.

My 2 house cats have their poppy attached to their collars, I also have my poppy permanently on my car. They were all brave young men and women

Well said Paul. My grandfather was a prisoner of war. A Black watch sergeant. Stabbed by a bayonet and still fought on. It saved his life. As he was outnumbered. A luger was put to his head by a German private. He closed them and thought of home. Then a German commander who had fought his unit stepped in and took him and the rest of his unit's prisoners.
I'll wear that poppy. Don't EVER question me and my poppies. My Grandad and his 4 sons all went to war.

Paul, I’m a veteran that lost 9 colleagues in Iraq in 2003. Four of which were very good friends. I left the Army in 2005 with PTSD. I’m so ashamed of what the UK has become. I’ll never vote for Labour due to their political position and lies re weapons of mass destruction. I’ll never vote labour for their open door policy on immigration. I’ll never vote labour to their absolute trashing of the UK economy in the mid 2000’s. And as for the Conservatives… these people are in my view, grossly negligent on all aspects of UK national security.
I know exactly where my vote is going this year. And I wear a poppy every single day. Without fail. I wear it alongside my veterans badge. I’m immensely proud of being a veteran but my contribution to the service of this country - along with all other service personal is ignored. Yet I’ll always be proud to be a veteran of HM Forces. 🇬🇧

My wife's auntie who will be 88 this month wears six poppies, one for each member of her family lost in the first and second World War. She wears her poppies all year, and she doesn't care what anyone thinks.

Always remembering my Great Great Grandfather, Arthur Charles Franklin, he was a Rifleman in 1st Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. He died 3rd of May 1917, Battle of Arras, Third battle of the Scarpe. 1 of nearly 6000 brave men and boys that died that day. His body was never recovered

Unfortunately we are at a pivotal moment where what they did may well have been in vain. We must unite and fight to honour what these veterans did for US!
It was, if we don't fight for the country they left us. And at this moment we are letting it happen.

We need to look out for each other. Don't let the powers that be, make us believe we're useless and wrong about everything, or that we're racists. That's all 'old hat' now, and we know it's not true. We're being tested by our leaders, and it's them who are our enemy. I will never back down and agree that I'm a useless, white, real woman. They're evil and it's all being done deliberately. Always wear my poppy necklace with my Christian one, I come from a military family, and my father, uncle and grand parents would be turning in their graves at what these governments have done to our Country. The children and teenagers in University,must be taught about our Heritage, our wars,our Christian faith that were fought for our freedom, instead of woke dangerous cult nonsense. Now we must bring our United Kingdom back to us,and wear our poppies with pride, not just for one day, but always. Put them back on our cars, clothes even in our gardens,houses with our flags. Poppy is part of our british heritage, very powerful paul. Those men fought for our freedom they would be turning in their graves if they could see what had happened to Great Britain. Wear your poppy with pride, and we shall never forget the suffering these brave folk went through, and our children, granchildren must be taught about the wars and history in schools rather than be swept under the carpet by lot of schools. I always wear a red poppy brooch every year to remember and respect the poor souls that died in two world wars to supposedly protect our freedoms and liberties we have today. Why are people not upholding and protecting those freedoms and allowing anti-british hatred run riot in this country?
My great grandfather died on D-Day (Normandy Landings) in 1944 at 27 years old and left behind a wife and two children; the youngest child had not been born yet.
It still shocks me on how many people in this country do not wear a poppy. It is not much to wear one to remember the war dead. I wear mine with pride and have the highest respect and honour for anyone who has served in our armed forces and the poor souls who went to war.

Over a million British military personnel died during the first and second world wars, and let’s not forget the 70.000 civilians who were killed. What did they die for ? every Scottish, Welsh, Irish and English who came together and died together. We must always remember and honour every single one of them. It’s our right
In all wars mostly the British working class believed in values ,believed in the mother land , recently young men and women in their teens in their twenties, lives snubbed out ,heartbroken mum and dad's , believed they was fighting for a better ,equal society , what today have we being repaid with .

I used to belong to the British Legion but most of the committee were old and we had to dismantle it It was such a shame the young people did not want to get involved No sense of PRIDE for their Country

That’s unfair the British Legion never attracted many young people, my father was a member but it was seen as a place for older people, the people who had no sense of pride for this country were the people who kept voting for parties that were selling off our assets to foreigners, what have the young got today, low paid jobs, insecure employment, can’t get mortgages, that’s what they’ve inherited from the baby boomers

I live in Northern Ireland and consider myself Irish,those who know something of Irish history will perhaps understand, I wear the poppy on my coats as a symbol of the huge sacrifices that our forefathers made to safeguard freedom and democracy from tyrants. I am proud as an Irish Catholic to do so and wholeheartedly support the British people's fight to stop the destruction of our collective values.
We haven't always seen eye to eye on a lot of things and yes British government has been underhand at times.
The working classes regardless of if you're in England,Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland live the same lives,hold the same beliefs and fight to make our families,communities and country stronger.

My Grandmother’s brother, 19528 Private Thomas Harper, was a private in the 7th Battalion, Duke of Cornwalls Light Infantry. He died 16th September 1916 aged 20 (Somme) Lest we forget.

i volunteer with veterans have done for 20 plus years , i would not share their stories but i wear my poppy on my arm every day , on my car and on my bags, the poppy is my way of sharing their stories without words. Lest we forget the men and women who stood in bloody battles because they had courage to save those back home ❤ many still do this today so thank you all for your service whether in a uniform or not you are standing for your people ❤
My grandfather served in both world wars in the RN lost his brother on HMS Vanguard. Totally proud of our armed service then and now. Cant do enough for them!

I attended my local war memorial on Remembrance Day last year and laid a small wreath. There were only three of us there, plus my dog. Where's the respect for our fallen heroes?
My Grandfather fought At The Somme In the First world War. He was a Horse Sargent. He was blown up Gassed and survived, One British Soldier killed every Four and a Half second. 59,000 Young men some as young as 15 killed before Dinner time, Whole Generations of men wiped out Mostly from South Yorkshire Lancashire and Lincolnshire. I will never forget what My grandfather did for me and the whole Country.

My father the day before Dunkirk was out for a pint with 4 of his friends, my father was the only one who came back, he was in charge of an anphianduc the vehicle that transported men to and from the ships, so you can imagine the carnage that he saw, he never talked about the war presumably to many bad memories. My father died in 1993, rest in peace dad ❤❤❤, i still love you XXX.

How many immigrants would stay and fight for this little island and the freedom we've enjoyed for the last 106 year's since the end of world war one. How many would suddenly remember were they came from and bugger off.

@@geoffasBritish Jews fought for this country in WWI, German Jews were fighting in their Army & Navy. Yes, some wealthy Jews went to America, as did a lot of wealthy British families, as both wars were starting up & who can blame them, but the majority of poor British Jews remained. In WWII, many Jewish children from Europe were sent to Britain for safety by their parents.
I take it you haven't read many books on the Holocaust or seen the film footage taken by the liberating allies, one of whom was my Uncle, he suffered for the rest of his life with dreadful nightmares at what he'd seen & couldn't rid himself of the smell. He saw children's clothing all neatly folded & stacked, boxes of gold teeth, human hair, folded clothing, each item having it's own stack & items made out of human skin, they even made soap out of human fat to send to the Eastern Front, the dead were heaped in huge piles & the emaciated, living dead could barely move. Those Death Camps were nothing more than human processing plants.
Once WWII was over many Jews tried to return to their countries, only to find their homes occupied by the countrymen they once called neighbours & found themselves completely dispossessed. Most Jews had fully assimilated into these countries, even giving themselves & their families Polish, French, Dutch names etc etc, all had integrated well.
They were scapegoats for Hitler & the Nazis, to explain away rampant inflation in Germany & Hitler held them responsible for Germany losing WWI, forgetting the thousands of Jews who died fighting for Germany in that war.

I served 39 years.I wear my metal poppy all the time. The only down side I feel the British Legion could do a great more for the veterans and especially the homeless.

Lost my Grandad n 2 of my grandads n grandma's siblings in WWII none came home. Lost even more in WW1 Respect n thankyou n sorry for letting or Government let you all down the same government that asked of you to go n defend this country and many others with your lives. I won't even bring up my father's generation and the friends I've lost personally in recent wars. I will no longer fight for this government or any other if I can't defend my own soil from invasion. The last time that I bought a poppy the young cadets selling them were not allowed to remove the straight pin off of the card for health and safety- what a difference .

Very powerful post. Thank you. My husband is a veteran and he served in Bosnia and Iraq. He never talks about it but I think neither does any of his fellow veterans. He has just been diagnosed with PTSD. But at least I have him here, he may be broken but other wives are not so lucky. I thank god for that.🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
My grandfather was in those trenches his brother was sent to Palestine, where he died. I remember my brother and I innocently sitting on, grandpa's lap, blissfully unaware of the hell he had suffered. My grandmother left his old pocket watch hanging on a little hook next to his chair after he died. Sometimes, we would walk into the "front kitchen to find the watch swinging for no good reason. That was a long time ago. As I tell my grandchildren, " we are all here because our ancestors were the ones who, survived".
Respect to the British and ANZAC warriors of WW1. Sacrificing so much for what we have today.
I have pin badges that I never take off. These people stood up for our future. Bless them all ❤❤ This reminded me of only fools and horses when granddad said "they promised homes fit for soldiers, all we got was soldiers fit for homes". This hit hard and I'll never forget that quote. God bless them all and all the young men and women who serve today ❤❤
I lived I’m a Home fit for Hero’s from when I was three years old in Meanwood. Leeds, West Yorkshire. The Community spirit was wonderful but they’ve all been pulled down now and the community spirit was destroyed along with the houses.

My dad worked for a company this is in the 80s the firm had its own pub rugby team people had purpose, a sense of belonging.Life seemed easy then but I was a kid. I wish it was like that for the next generation but no it all changed for the worse.
Thank you for the presentation, I was outraged by the actions of some on Armistice day last November. The lack of respect was outrageous so much, so I am wearing my poppy all year to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, lest we forget.

My great uncle Albert Edward Purseglove fought in the battle of Ctesiphon in WW1 he was dreadfully wounded but saved many lives of his fellow soldiers and was awarded the DCM. He was made to march to Mesopotamia (now Iraq) where he died as a POW on the 3rd February 1917. My father named after him fought in WW2 against the Japanese in Burma,he returned with many scars,but never spoke of his actions. Paul we must always remember these brave souls that gave their lives in many cases so we can enjoy what we have today….ALWAYS wear your poppy with pride 🇬🇧

I where mine too remember those who gave their lives for you... I where mine too remember the friends I have lost from NI too Afghanistan. I where it as a reminder too others that better Men and women than them are nolonger here..I where mine in honour of the hero's I look forward too proundly standing side by side with again one day soon.
More than a million young British men (and the resulting families that would have been) sent to their deaths just so France wasn't humiliated like they were 24 years prior. Given the state of the country now there's no way they'd have volunteered and gone to war like they did.
When are people going to realise all wars are instigated by the bankers. They back both sides and humanity suffers. Just look how servicemen are treated. Shit wages and left on scrap heap after being traumatised.

I wholeheartedly support the Remembrance of the Fallen. I do however question the financial standing of the RBL. It has about £400 Million in assets and investments. Makes about £50 Million a year. I've met homeless vets. Rather than buy a Poppy I give them a couple of quid and donate to Help for Heroes.
They're not 'vets'. they are ex-service personnel. I despise the creeping Americanisation of the Anglo-English language.

I wear a poppy every day. and am proud of it. know1 will tell me any different they can shove their comments where the sun dont shine. i wear with pride for the fallen of this country who fought for our freedoms total respect. ashamed of our government that is unravelling it all 😢

That memorable scene at the end of Blackadder where the battle field turns to a poppy field also is a reminder of the significance of the poppy and the value of our brave soldiers who gave their lives

This had me in tears this morning. I am so sick of what's happening to us.
For what they gave for our freedom, as this man stated that if you didn’t go over the wall you were shot on site for cowardice, this generation of cowards will never see or experience what these hero’s real men had to fight for freedom. The poppy is a symbol of faith, courage, strength, patriotism, heroism, steadfastness, Britishness, 2 world wars men of fighting age with armour of God fighting for our freedoms, our very existence of life given to us through their courage. I was at St Pancreas (King’s Cross) in November last year 2023 and seeing military men in uniform it made me feel so proud, I bought 2 beautiful metal poppies one for me and one for my wife, we wear them with pride, and will always remember what our fallen soldiers gave for us. As a kid in London in the 50’s I didn’t know ANY family that hadn’t lost at least 1 loved one to war. We wear a poppy with pride but I wouldn’t be happy if any of my family wanted to fight for any government now, they are traitors
I'm an ex serviceman and the only time. I asked the British legion for help was for my brother. In-law who had died and was a falklands veteran. They wouldn't help not one penny did they spend out they just gave advice to go to a citizens advice .. The Legion are now a Ltd. company with ridiculous levels of pay for their management and huge financial reserves . I now hate them .
