I watched the show live as I do every Sunday night. When the whole thing happened with Dave and Daniel, I thought it was a joke that they practiced before the show just to trick the viewers. I’ve been a fan of John’s for years and I can tell when something makes him uncomfortable. I noticed he got awkward. Then you see his wheels turning in his mind, but he’s trying to keep it together on the outside to make you think that that he’s calm. When I saw John react that way, I was like, “Oh crap. It’s not a joke.”
This is an amazingly great that i watched this today...Brought smiles and laughs.Love it!!! Thanks for uploading.Im glad it all worked out with Dave and Daniel..I was a little nervous during it however..Its all good.Daniel sang beautifully.."Everythings groovy"
Dave Chapelle said that as joke and even Daniel Caesar recognized that. Problem is: It was resolved to quick! People want DRAMA! Loved the show, one of the beast if not THE best, to date!
The best art & entertainment is always about pushing the boundaries, being offended by Dave calling Daniel gay as a joke and 2 seconds later admitting it's a joke and giving him great praise is incredibly infentile, we all say worst jokes when we are 5 years old. This was a great episode, there's no room on earth to contain the amount of talent, creativity, and passion these 3 men have.

I don’t think Dave is being callous here. This is life. People say things that would otherwise work in other contexts, but it didn’t work here. Intrusive jokes like Dave’s fly differently with those from different cultures, Dave being American, Daniel being Canadian. Real life is just one single take. There are no cut scenes, no edits or Hollywood filters. The only thing you can do is talk it over, shake hands, and move on (which they did). Everybody has been in this situation and they’ve always resolved amicably. People are giving Dave shit because it’s easy to pontificate to people living under the spotlight. They feed off drama, and, as evident by the comments, do not want Daniel to forgive Dave and move on. Glass houses, folks. Btw: John and Daniel need a studio version of this performance together.

I found that middle section where Dave used 'gay' as a slur and then seemingly wasn't apologetic for it pretty uncomfortable. Of course he has the right to speak his mind and possibly offend in doing so. But I feel using 'gay', with all the historical weight of it, in that fashion is a mistake. I don't think Dave would be too pleased if John started throwing around the N word in the same fashion. Interested in everyone else's opinion though.

There are countries out there where being openly gay will get you sentenced to death.
