Got my hubby an HP Envy 17t 173 for xmas. Core i7 7700 quad core (7th gen) processor, touch screen, 17" 1080p display, Nvidia graphics with 4 gigs hddr 5 , 16GB dual channel ram, 1080p webcam, Bang & Olafsen speakers, ports out the whazoo. It's a fast ripping beast. Doesn't have mil specs so wouldn't do as well if dropped but the specs are amazing and it was only $850 at Costco. HP has really stepped up their laptop game.

Compared to my Omen 15t-dc100, which goes “look at me” with it’s red and black design and glowing keyboard, my ZBook 15 looks more like a stealth fighter. Better than any MacBook Pro out there indeed.

Which ZBook even is this? 14u? 15u? 15 Studio? 15? 17? You miss out every single detail starting from the basics. Also those aren't just USB-C. Those are thunderbolt 3 ports.

I ordered the zBook 17 G4 for work. It froze repeatedly, and went back for repairs, but HP couldn't fix the problem and apparently didn't even bother to test their repairs, because it came back with the exact same problem as before, even though I had described the repro steps in detail. On top of that, the build quality is very lackluster. Squeaky casing, white noise from speakers during on bootup and a VERY noisy fan (from bearings or motor) just doesn't give you that sense of quality.
HP doesn't seem like a serious business. It's a shame, because I decided on HP because of my perception of a serious company with a long history. Expectations and perception of HP has been shattered by my experience.
I now have a Dell Alienware. It's a whole different league! MUCH better build quality, almost completely silent and even a comfortable low frequency noise when fans go full thrust. I highly recommend Alienware!

At the same price you can get a refurbished custom workstation (like a Z800) with at least twice the power of this laptop. You sacrifice mobility, but get more power.
10 min rendering for a 4min simple file is way too long!
If you drop a 15min video heavily edited and color graded... it will probably render it in one hour witch is way to long for a 2000$ laptop.

Not sure why this video and the entire comments section here is forgetting the part where the thunderbolt 3 protocol includes displayport 1.2 w/ MST and if you don't have a thunderbolt input on your display, a $15 adapter will suffice.

I'm sorry, but this is a laptop for the guy who doesn't care about image but just wants versatility and freedom. The TN panel looks attrocious and anyone working with Graphics will tell you that TN is a nightmare for Colour reproduction ( yes, Colour, not Color ).

Great video! What's the difference between Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro? Is one program easier to get into and use then the other?

    • @jiyad6590
      @jiyad6590 7 років тому

dave4shmups it is based on personal preference, both are fairly easy to get used to although I would say that finalcut pro is slightly easier cos of the UI.

Your reviews is everything but "pro". No data to back your claims. what is the exact brightness, delta e, black level, contrast? Just your using experience and feelings are far from enough. Also, for video editing, final cut pro on 15'' MBP will beats this poor pc running adobe premier. Hardware isn't everything.

To people who dont truly know anything about gaming computers, avoid anything built from HP, Dell and alienware when it comes to gaming. They offer their products at low cost cause of the cheap materials they use and how quickly they break down just after a few months or even weeks. Acer, Asus and Razor are your top choices for gaming.

Reggaetonaldo Can confirm. My damn Dell Inspiron started giving me issues not even a full 2 months after I bought it. Laptop constantly turns off on its own with certain key presses or even plugging/unplugging the power cable, and even the power button randomly snapped on me such that it no longer clicks.
The performance itself is nice in my opinion but holy hell did they cheap out on certain aspects of the hardware.

Depends on the model. Some are cheap and run too hot. Some are just fine and are good value. Do your homework and HP and Dell will work.

Acer has terrible build quality though. During the time I had my last HP laptop, a friend of mine went through 3 Acer and Asus laptops.

People who go off about consumer grade gaming laptops on a video about a professional grade HP workstation with a potential MSRP of over $7200. Yeah. Sure. Whatever you say bud.
