I myself lost 40 pounds in four months. I went from 180 to 140. I eat steamed vegetables, fish, eggs, nuts, banana, apple or grapes along with 8 cups of water per day. I started with only 700 calories per day and gradually went up to 1800. I also take extra vitamins, minerals and herbs. In the last month I also had cataract surgery on both eyes. I feel like a new man. I am 5ft. 10in. and 65 years old. When I started my triglycerides were at 576 and that dropped to normal after the second week. Then my bad cholesterol dropped too normal as well. I eliminated refined sugar and processed foods. Now my blood pressure is 108/64 with a pulse rate of 58. Good luck in your adventure to find good health.

Don. That is too fast. I lost a little over 40lbs. and took over a years- running and eating correctly. I still lost my gallbladder. It is a thing with rapid weight loss.
Nuts- Walnuts are best. Almonds are very high in Oxalates. Grapes are high in sugar. Most fruit should be avoided- just some org. blueberries are usually OK. I would stop with the vitamins- most are harmful and synthetic. I only take Magnesium Glycinate which most people should take. If you take D, you need to take it with K2- always.
Good job on your BP and pulse rate! No sugar is smart! When you drink water, I put a pinch of pink salt in it. It helps balance many things- read about it. Walking fast, jogging and some sprints might be very helpful to push to the next level. I would also do some resistance and flexibility training. More than just tris can cholesterol, you want to pay attention to the ration of TRIGLYCERIDES TO HDL. This is what matters. It should be 1.5 or less is good. 2.5 of more is a problem. For example, 200 (triglyceride level) / 55 (HDL) = 3.6 (triglyceride HDL ratio). This would be way too high and bad. Again, I cannot be clear enough, it is the RATIO that matters. Many docs will ignore this or even bother to tell you the score. They will however be very quick to write you a script for harmful drugs- like statins.

If you ignore and waste time playing around it can progress to worse, chronic issues. My biggest thing now is the weight loss and more important, the inability to gain.

I lost 90lbs in just over 2 months-- but I started with a FULL 6 day fast and lost 3 lbs per day, EVERYDAY during that first week; I weighed myself every morning. When I weighed myself again at the end of day 7, I was 22 lbs down for the week. Pretty incredible way to start your weight loss. So I started at 285 and got down to 263 in that first week, and then went on to get down to 192 in about 2 more months, just by eating small portions, only once a day. Mostly sticking to butter/ coconut butter, fatty meat and vegetables, plus a lot of bacon and eggs, many avocados and salted tomatoes; other than that it would be simple meals/ salmon and asparagus/ ribeye (or chuck-eye) steak w/ butter and spinach or Brussel sprouts or salad w/ ranch, etc, summer sausage slices and cheddar or muenster or Mazzarella, shrimp w/ butter, meatballs and broccoli or green beans, cheddar peppers w/ cream cheese wrapped in bacon (which I would dip in coconut butter now and then). cabbage and bacon (extra bacon), cheese burger without the bun (I would just eat the cheese melted burger with a fork and have the salted lettuce, tomato and onion on the side almost like a salad I guess)..
Basically just avoiding breads/ sugars/ starches/ and even fruits, especially no juices or any other sugar drinks, no coffee, no cereals, no cakes or pies, no candy, no ice cream, no alcohol, etc. Nothing that is sugar or will easily turn to sugar in the body; simply stick to meat and fats, vegetables and some cheese.
ALL in small portions. We're not gorging down a full plate. Just eat your vegetable and finish with the meat and even if you're not full, simply walk away from the food-- sit down and drink on a large glass of water. The satiation will catch up to you and you'll be plenty satisfied. This is one of the most important things that an obese person can learn: We don't have to eat until we are stuffed and can't eat anymore. Just because the food tastes good, doesn't mean that we have to stuff our face with it. Just eat your little portioned meal, and walk away until the next day- once you do this a few times, you will have more faith that you ate enough food -- because again, the satiation will catch up to you in another 10 minutes and you'll feel great that you're not loaded down with a full stomach, and you can still go about your day and move and work without feeling like you need to lay down and take a nap. STOP eating till full-- that is the main habit that will change your life.

@@ketoauntie7301 Yes, stay away from any sugar/ breads/ starches/ and even fruits/ and especially any juice/ soda/ etc... I ate a lot of bacon and eggs, avocados and salted tomato, salmon and asparagus, meatballs and cheddar, beef jerky, summer sausage and muenster cheese, Ribeye steak and broccoli, etc.. Keep it simple; Yes I guess it's basically a keto type diet. Only eat once per day and keep the portions small/ to reasonable. Eating too much at once will spike your blood sugar and kick you out of fat burning ketosis; also eating several times per day will do it too; So only once per day, stick with fatty meat and a vegetable, and then simply DON'T eat again until tomorrow.
Yes I felt amazing, with not having inflammation and pain present like I always do. After that second day of fasting, your body will have digested everything from your last meal and even pooped it out by then, and you will have burned up all your blood sugar by then too; so now you're fully 100% running off of your body fat, and you will notice it. You feel awesome, high motivation, high energy, good mood, hormones pumping and even heightened senses.. I can't recommend it enough. You should definitely do a fast.

Watching Dr Berg’s videos helped me to start fasting and start keto. I went from 163lbs to 115lbs. I’m 4 11’. People don’t even recognize me anymore. I have solved my inflammation. I have more energy, focus, motivation. If I start to lose motivation, I’ll just watch his videos to stay on track. People in college see my photos and they say I look like I never aged and I’m 48 years old. I just wish I had dr Berg in college to educate me because I struggled over the years with my weight and now I feel like I have found the cure to my disease, because obesity is a disease. When I got better my coworkers noticed that I lost weight and that was the swift kick in the butt that I needed to get healthier. Since then I’ve completely changed my diet and started exercising more and taking some supplements to help burn belly fat. Then I stumbled upon your channel on here and followed your advice with lemon water and apple cider vinegar and the weight has really come off the last 3 months since drinking the lemon water everyday. I’ve probably lost over 100 pounds since the beginning of the year.

I think Bart being single is probably one of the greatest contributors to his success. I can remember how motivated I was when I was single and how easy it was to stick to my routines and new habits. I think the reason for this is 1. You’re motivated to look good for your future partner 2. It’s easier to stick to routines and habits without having anyone else around to tempt you at home and throw you off your routine 3. You have full control over groceries and what’s kept in the house. You don’t have to consider anyone else’s needs when grocery shopping or planning/preparing meals. I attribute more than half my struggles to weight loss with my social influences. I get tempted or thrown for a loop almost daily and in the beginning, it’s so hard to say no several times a day. Especially if I’m stressed or unprepared. And the majority of those influences are not relationships I can part with to make life easier, so I have to learn to manage them better (spouse, family, coworkers).

I remember reading comments about how much weight people were losing and thought, "why isn't it working for me"? (LOL I'm literally writing this while he started talking about the stress! Lol)
Well I had started the intermittent fasting. It helped greatly with my blood sugar/pressure, and I was feeling better. Then I had a climax stress event with family, that ended up with me trying to figure out why I couldn't sleep! For a month! In that time, I had already found Dr Berg when looking into the IF. He instantly popped up when I searched for help with the insomnia! I did what I could on the stress, but it took a long time to get that turned around. Well a year later, and I'm down about 35lbs! This is really awesome. I started at 345 and I'm down to 318. I've been mainly following nsng which is similar to keto except I can't have any type of sugar. I also do 1.5 meals a day which is one meal in the evening but I have a smoothie made with frozen berries, almond milk, full fat yogurt, and peanut butter for my first meal. I usually have the smoothie between 10:30 & noon and then my meal is usually about 7pm just because of my schedule. I'm not having as much success as I was hoping but success is still success. I would love to lose 90 lbs in 5 months. I know my overall health would improve which is a huge concern. I currently have digestive issues and heart disease that I'm trying to combat.

I've been on 2 x low carb meals a day but i'm already leaning more towards a more carnivore diet. I used to wake up every morning with soreness in both shoulders (from sleeping on my side), that soreness/inflamation has gone. My dry skin has started to clear up too. I'm 49, 6ft and 309lbs. I find this story so inspiring. My wife and 2 kids in their 20's aren't on the same diet as me so we do have plenty of temptations in the kitchen cupboards but i've been strong.... so far. At 70, the last 3 years have been amazing. I discovered Dr Berg since the beginning of this year so learned about eating Keto, Intermittent Fasting and OMAD from another Dr
but continue learning from all that I follow. Lemon water ✔, ACV am and pm ✔, big bowl with salad and protein ✔, daily exercise ✔. As far as going out to eat, no problem. I eat Keto and don't put anything in my mouth I don't want. I am totally in control, never snack and am never hungry. It's been a process. Like Bart, I feel better than almost 40 years.
We are average people that started on this journey and you can too. It's
never too late to be healthier. 🙏 💪
Edit: I have never gotten on a scale but know by my clothes. I recently had to donate a bunch of clothes as I've gone from 18/20 to 8/10. Also recently I've had a downsizing "spurt", even my legs. Like I said, at my age, amazing. But we can do this at our age!
We don't need fancy recipes, just eat
from around the outside aisles of the store. Stay away from processed.
Also, not on any meds at all.

I've found the need for willpower (or "won't" power - lol!) goes away once you break the carb addiction. You just eat and do what you know you gotta do. Make it thru that first week to ten days and then its pretty much clear sailing!
Of course, like any addiction (or bad habit), it's always lurking in the background waiting for a moment of weakness to comeback into your life. The cost of freedom (and good health) is eternal vigilance.

There are days I don't know how I will go on like this if I continue to gain more and more weight. Let's just say that I am absolutely miserable in my own skin. After many prayers, expensive consultations, and programs I cannot afford but desperately need-I stumbled upon Dr. Berg's videos. First, it was the knee pain video that made me feel better instantly and that was it. I watch one video a day and have shared his videos with so many people including those in South America. Greetings Doctor Berg, and everyone,
I have been on Ketogenic for a year and 10 months, and also adding OMD to my great life but OMD is not a stranger to me I use to fast a lot when I was in my teens and while I was in college, especially in my late twenties. I always fasted and I always felt amazing when fasting.
Fasting has been in my life and I know the amazing feeling of a good fast and the benefits of fasting. The excess weight came on me after a broken marriage but it was not the marriage it was me who have to take the responsibility for my oneness with myself to understand that it’s up to me what I want out of weight loss and not temporary just to get in a swimsuit or a new dress but for the healthy lifestyle for a healthy body.
Keto for me is taking every step with care while losing weight to avoid loose skin and majorly learning more about my lifestyle choices for the future because this is a lifestyle for me mentally and physically.
I’m feeling great but knowledge is powerful to understand obesity to use our acknowledge to fight obesity, with respect and understanding that we must not make any excuses for our weight gain but take full responsibility to understand the cause of weight gain when it comes to our pass eating habits by eating an overwhelming amount of carbohydrate. This is a list of food I have eliminated from going into my body that causes health problems and especially foods that was processed and full of sugar and especially foods that has sugar. I don’t drink soda, eat bread, grits, rice, beans, pasta, pizza, fast food, ice cream, cakes, cookies, candies, no keto snacks filled with sugar substitutes, and no sugary fruits. I turned to whole food and my eyesight is amazing and my blood pressure became normal. I don’t have diabetes but I knew I had to do something before going down the road of disaster.
This is a life changer for me. I have to use the slow and steady way of losing weight not rushing but doing it with my body adjusting to the new progress of losing weight naturally and safely. I love when you said Doctor Berg, that exercising is great while losing weight not to overdo the exercises while losing weight but do our exercises Moderately.
I took the advice and I have lost 76 pounds. In one year and 10 months but I’m still losing weight and staying focused on my ketogenic lifestyle.

just by quitting sugar and the intermittent fasting, i lost 28 lbs in 6 months, but i weigh 150-153 now and am at a good weight for a 6 foot man. i had incredible unexpected health benefits along with this. my shortness of breath, vision problems, and gerd are simply gone, which suggests to me a lot of internal problems i did not even know about have been healed. other things that occurred, hunger pangs are gone, my blood pressure is normal, my energy is very good as is happiness, BM's are less volume and less frequent, sex is much improved, and every meal tastes so good, it is like i have just been born and i am tasting things for the first time. i must have been very close to being diabetic and i feel like i have saved my life. i stay on the intermittent fasting as it feels perfect now that i am used to it. eating all day is simply an addiction, caused by the food industry to sell products. along this journey, i have found out about all the manufactured processed food being poison, along with much more about food and what to eat. i have come to see this as a spiritual journey, and there are people who try at every opportunity to derail me from chosen path, even when you have told them you are fasting and don't eat anything until evening. they offer food and act offended when you tell them repeatedly you are on your fast period and hand the food back to them. they even try to say it's ok cause it's not sugar in it. watch out for these saboteurs.

This is an exciting result of your efforts. Thank you for sharing this interview. I'm looking forward to hearing how you are able to sustain this weight. You look so healthy and happy. It sounds like you are eating healthy and taking care to eat the best choices. Congratulations to you both! This is how the doctor-patient relationship is suppose to work.

This is such a great example of what it takes to change your mindset. I’ve recently read Bob Peoctor’s book ‘change your paradigm, change your life’ and this is a perfect example of the method of ‘repetition’ he advises. He suggest listening and reading information, over and over, until it gets into the subconscious mind. It seems that is what this gentleman did.
I love Dr. Bergs teachings. I think I’ll start to watch his videos every single morning. A great idea to help stay focused and motivated!

I've been binge watching Dr Bergs videos, and came across this video.
First of all, congrats to this man's amazing weight loss journey!
I am a 54 year young mother of 4 and grandmother to 2 beautiful babies.
My story is long, but I will try to keep it as short.
In 2015 I was diagnosed with 3rd stage Renal Cell Carcinoma...aka kidney cancer.
I had a radical nephrectomy 6 months later( kidney removal)
and I lost a total of 70 lbs, during my ordeal.
I have gained almost 100 lbs since then. I know how serious this is for me, since I only have 1 kidney.
I started with intermittent fasting and walking yesterday.
I know it's only been 2 days, but I hope and pray I can come back one day, and share a success story like many of you have.

I watch Dr.Berg and Dr. "Ek"Berg, pretty similar Dr's advising on fasting and keto and with illness and conditions etc.. Love them both 💕

    Bart, you rock!! Congratulations 🎉
I found a lot of parallels in your strategies… I watch the Dr. Berg videos every day whether they apply to me or not; I even listen to all the Dr. Berg Live shows I’ve missed because always something helpful or someone asking a question I wonder about; I don’t buy the Keto snacks but instead cook for myself; and the big thing I agreed with was when you said: educate yourself! All the success stories like yours are very motivating and I’m very appreciative that you shared💚 I also have Alzheimer’s on both sides of my family so this lifestyle just becomes the only choice. And once you begin to pull the right levers with it, you’ll be so happy you gave it a try!!

Totally get it! I’ll go back and watch videos all the time! (Plan do review) even keto basics, super charge prolonged fast etc) I get so many tips and tricks on what to eat and how to fine tune my meals. It’s not a sprint to the finish, simple proper choices over time.

@@BartRatliff I went back and watched the video a second time and took notes on the parts of your process that made clear, practical sense to me. (I LOVE “plan-do-review”!) First, keeping meals simple at first will be important. Second, watching videos regularly to “renew the mind” - oh yes! I added a whole page of notes to my fasting journal - those are just two of the notes that stuck out.. This info just feels different to me. Deeply encouraged. 💜
