I live in the Godavari delta region of India we get sand from the river bed of Godavari in the past, it was dirt cheap and used as a filler to make the floor even now the demolition of old buildings is done carefully and and the sand is reused in the cement for the building and the the demolition waste as the filler showing the changing landscapes
You mentioned Florida losing its beaches. I’ve lived in Florida all of my life and can confirm this. Especially after hurricanes. They pull back tides which erodes the beaches and the strong winds as well. Usually after them the city has to pump in sand from about a quarter to half a mile out onto the beaches.
Thanks for making this video Aperture. It made me realize the sheer importance of sand. It is the *foundation* of our society, something that *bases* our lives around. I can't believe I've gone soo much time without recognizing it even when there's soo much *concrete* proof literally *all around* me. Aperture, continue on your mission. Thanks a lot for this video. I've never realised how precious and finite resource sand is, before watching this video. What you say is true: there's almost no awareness among people, of how we are losing sand.
I've seen over 10 videos from major UA-cam channels covering this exact topic, over the past 3 years only. I thought it's become common knowledge by now.
Once sand has been rapidly depleted, the price will eventually reach a high that makes it cheaper to buy an alternative, I think this crisis will balance itself out eventually, but obviously poorer developing countries will suffer the most due to infrastructure costs going up.
@@ImTHECarlos98 Beaches in most tourist areas and developed nations are protected and maintained, I doubt they’d ever be used on a mass-depleting-scale.

I feel like you would make a great video about electric cars and their environmental impacts. The directly release no pollution, but indirectly do a lot of damage. The electricity they use is made by burning coal, which pollutes the environment (wind and solar power aren’t efficient enough yet so plants rely on coal mainly). Also, the worst part is lithium. They use lithium batteries which the mining and manufacturing of them is awful. Mining them causes toxic pollution and runoff water that poisons nearby areas. Much of this is in Developing countries that have little to no regulations, especially for those that will fill pockets of those with power. This hurts local populations. Additionally, the manufacturing process of lithium ore into batteries is inefficient and uses much energy and causes pollution So no, you aren’t being a great human by buying a tesla

There's a lotta sand wasted in the world. Those empty islands in Dubai, heaps of trashes around dumpsites, and old abandoned buildings. It would be a really big deal if we could recycle them for new material but the problem is a lot of companies would not be happy with it even if it could give a good effect to the environment.
Wow, I'm planning to do that skydive over the Palm on my birthday in 3 weeks. I still don't think I've "made it" though. But hopefully some day I will.
I wonder if it’s possible to replicate the “good” sand creating processes at the industrial level. Might be possible to do via using ultrasound or smth like that🤔
i believe there's a new type of "cement" developed using recycled waste and plastic which will probably get popularized the less resources become. for the poor sand, it would take a machine that could change the molecular structure, and knowing industries, at a very high and effective rate. would probably consume more materials trying to construct it, and more energy trying to power it.

wouldn't sand from the southwest U.S. be able to be used for building? Its a very hard sand, and requires pickaxing the ground before you can start building on it because of how well the sand is bonded together.

Surely the crap sand could be used for beaches etc so trade the good sand for the crap sand. also in construction use 75% good sand and 25% crap sand for the concrete mixes, it would bond just as good.
