I liked it. It'll probably take me a few more watches to decide just how much I liked it because I have my own mixed feelings about certain things. What I can say for sure now is that I loved all of the kills and seeing the affect Michael had on the community at large, instead of just a few individuals. We just finished Halloween Kills and it’s an Awesome movie. I never really thought about the other people he terrorized and their families back in 78. I just wanna say man I listened to I think every one of your Halloween reviews over the weeks. Thank you for doing all of them. Another wonderful intro And I agree. Plenty of problems where a lot of ambition isn’t always fluid, but for a slasher sequel, pretty solid and appreciate what they’re going for. MIKES da original slasher king. Jason, Freddy, chucky all came after him. Knockoffs basically that had to be more gory to contend with Halloween. LeatherFace came out before Mike. BUT I would face Leatherface 10 times out 10 instead of taking on Michael Myers.
I just watched it and I think I need more time to digest it but overall I'm quite pleased with the movie. Some of the best kills we've seen so far and they do a good job of making Michael the essence of evil, an unrelenting force of nature that will destroy you if you're not careful.
Yikes, I'm nervous to watch this now. There are a lot of horror movies that lose it's essence so to speak the more they remake them. It's tough to see such amazing characters be butchered as the years go on. I'm watching it tomorrow, let's see how it goes! Your commentary bummed me out just a bit because it's what I feared would happen. It's almost as if some writers struggle to be able to maintain the momentum. Thanks for your review!
I watched Halloween Kills on Thursday the 14th. The theater was packed and they had us in a small theater. I loved the movie, it was awesome. Thanks Chris your videos are great. Love the intros. That Sheriff though, he didn't want to do s#&+, the whole L.E. didn't do much.
Going to see Halloween kills on Friday with the homies, going to chief the devils lettuce all day and head up to the movies at night. Been a long wait. Gonna make every minute worth it.
I can’t wait to see this movie on Friday. Even going as Michael Myers himself to a con the day before Halloween and Halloween. And that shirt would awesome too
I loved the way they did the intro of this movie. They really grabbed my intention and brought back that old and original great feeling of 1978 movie and Dr loomis CGI small part really loved that.
As a HUGE Halloween movie fan, I just HAD to watch Halloween movie reviews - and after watching your first movie review, I loved your commentary and style, so of course I watched ALL of your reviews! I subscribed not only for the Halloween franchise reviews but for the other videos that you made and will make. Thank you for great content! .
I’m just happy it sounds like this is not another Halloween H20 to Resurrection situation. Sure, I’m prepared for Kills to have a few more problems than 2018, but it doesn’t sound like the drop off was as severe and glaring as it was from H20 to Resurrection, so I’m happy to hear that.
Chris is the greatest movie news youtuber and his skits are so funny every time, surprised you didnt do Michal doing a backflip being Halloween skills lmao. damn he got rid of the heart big sad
He's not wrong when he says that fans will be shocked by this film!!! but really it's a great film and I trust that they had a reason for this to be so out of place from other Halloween films. Don't want to spoil anything and still have questions about certain things, but after 12 hours of trying to put certain pieces together from seeing the film im very excited to see Halloween Ends.
Trailer Was decent. Can’t wait to see it. Love Halloween though. I’m old, and I remebr going to the movies to see the one where Paul Rudd is little Tommy all grown up.
Got my tickets for Friday!! As long as they don't have the hospital revive and heal a dying Myers (I mean, cmon, why else would they be ripping the hospital apart in the trailer?) and the kills are vicious, ima enjoy! Just want some fun slash and hack!
Dude you're probably right lol. He said there's plenty of dumb characters doing dumb things and that there's a big piece of social commentary in a hospital sequence? Probably something about Dr's doing their dudiligence no matter how vile somebody is because "we'd be no better for letting a man die" or some trash like that lmao I really hope not
Ordered my tickets to see Halloween Kills on Saturday like 15 minutes as of the release time of this video. I’ve been waiting so long but I’m so freaking ready
I could honestly care less about reviews of this movie, like horror movies always get a bad rap, and it’s honestly sad, I just want to hear that sweet theme song and watch Mikey do his thing.🔪🎃
I’d agree if I hadn’t been watching the films for 20 years of my life. This movie was nothing more than an excuse to make more money. 0 character development. Killing quite literally 90% of the main cast. Bringing characters back from previous films only to not doing them justice. So many other problems but I don’t wanna spoil. Was it fun to watch Michael kill people ? Yes. Did half the kills make any sense ? No. Was the piecing of the story any good ? No. Was it enjoyable? somewhat.
I totally agree. I was watching this and found myself being really annoyed with the mob of people and super annoyed with the grand daughter of Laurie. I feel like it was lazy writing and really dumb with the choice they made. I also typically like Anthony Michael Hall (Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club) but his character and his choice and even the "slogans" he yelled to the crowd were super dumb in my opinion. The need to shout "Evil dies tonight!" As he makes chase in the hospital was really unnecessary. However, more so towards the end the movie made up for its campy cheesy and bad choices and even though this truly wasn't a favorite Halloween film of mine, i think there is room for a better ending in the final film BUT as of 3 hours ago I saw an interview with Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays the titular character Laurie; “So there’s one more film to make and I know what it’s about, and it’s going to blow people’s minds open....It’s going to make people very angry and it’s going to be shocking because it asks a lot of questions. So that’s all I can tell you.” It excites me but it also really does worry me a bit. Let me know what you think.
Yeah tbh felt like a lack luster thriller just there for the kills. I wouldve preferred it to end with Michael getting a bullet in his head. Would've been a great contrast to the mistake they made years ago side by side but this time they finish it. This ending and the actors comment is leaving me excited as I really want tk see the reaction of Laurie and her granddaughters to her daughter/mothers death
@@tardsandwich7204 Agreed! I also think that the director/writers made this movie as a "explanation" of sorts but honestly I don't think it was all necessary since the fans know the story and true fans really just want to see the story progress into something we haven't seen before. If people want to know what's happened they can honestly watch the previous movies 1, 2 and the 2018 movie. I also found some of the movie to be far more sillier like it tried to be a comedy of sorts like the movie "Ready or Not" but it didn't work for me here. Once I saw the guy from MadTv I thought, this is suppose to be the humorous part.."Big John" , "Little John". 🤦🏻♂️ And it was wreckless giving Laurie's grandchild a rifle to go hunt Michael. In other movies it was given to kids as a last resort to hide but protect themselves or not at all given. Maybe I am being too critical but lots of thing could've been done different. I'm going to set my expectations for Halloween Ends low so I won't be this dissatisfied when I watch it.
Sooooo hyped for tomorrow nite’s showing!!! Pumped for flashbacks, the high body count, and Haddonfield doing their damndest to end the nightmare has me excited on level I haven’t felt in forever
I would love to be entered in to the giveaway. Also, I just finished "Halloween Kills" and I personally loved it. I do agree that it will be a better watch for people who have followed the films rather than just jumping in now but I hope that it doesn't hurt the movie so much. I also loved the flashback scenes. It really did feel like we were shot back in time and it was amazing. The ending hurt though but we'll see what happens in the the last entry for this timeline at least
I saw it yesterday. I'm a TITANS UA-camR. But in a huge fan of slashers. This was amazing. The way they did that beggining flashback style 78 timeline wow...beautifully done
Dude, I absolutely love your reviews. The fact, you point out where things tie in together shows your knowledge of the topics you discuss. Keep it up dude!
Really enjoyed the movie! The brutality was nice, the flashback scenes were done very well, and the movie had quite a frantic and fun pace. Enjoyed it more than Halloween 2018 honestly. I’d like to be entered!
It's not the worst myers movie but not the best either. I actually liked 2018 better, the story was tighter and kept flowing. Here the story is everywhere. What pisses me off is how much dialog is used to explain how myers wasn't originally after Laurie, since the old doctor was the one who linked their paths. They should've just kept them related brother and sister like how it was mentioned in the original halloween 2. Story would've flowed so much better and a very good reason for Michael and Laurie to be the focal point...... oh and thank you whoever decided to kill that Karen bitch ugggggg I hated that witch......... also I felt like Michael took too much damage not to be dead in tge end, he's more like a Jason zombie 🤷🏾♂️....... I thought maybe they opted not to pick off after Halloween 2 cause of how myers was killed in explosion, but dam they made him into a beast, surely he could've survived that hospital explosion and they could've kept H2 in this timeline.🤷🏾♂️
@@Leo_seguridad to be honest what I like so much about the original Halloween is that first and foremost it is an atmospheric slasher movie with little in the way of story. I have a soft spot for the series I did really enjoy the 2018 Halloween but what I liked about Kills is that it had that feeling of the first in that it was more a creepy and atmospheric slasher that didn’t have too too much in the way of story. I find Michael creepier the less human he feels. The Thorn trilogy had so much in the way of god awful story trying to explain Michael and why he does the way he does. Even Carpenter said that when he wrote the Michael and Laurie sibling storyline it was just a case of bad writers block and he needed to put something in the way of story. I like that these newer ones almost return back to Michael being the personification of evil as opposed to “he wants his sister” or “it’s his destiny to kill his bloodline”.
Holy shit I’ve just finished watching this and good Lord was Mikey brutal in this movie every kill was so unique and bloody, One of the best watches I’ve had in a good while now we wait for Scream

My man Chris really is the best with the intros 👏 I hope it's better than Halloween 2018 cause I feel like that was more of a light soft set up for this movie!
LOVED IT! 🎃 But wish he would have gotten the alternate ending in the theatrical cut.. it was too abrupt but I will be going back tomorrow to see it again 😁 And that tshirt is 😍😍
Last movie didn’t do it for me so I’ve been struggling to find the desire to see this. I didn’t know about the flashbacks so that’s kind of interesting, but it’s amazing how contrived this all feels when they eliminated all of the other sequels.
Just finished it. Mikey boi goes apeshit like no tomorrow. The kills are many and sooooo unique. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the usual horror movie "lemme be a dumbass" moments, but I guess it's a must in order for the plot to work. Not gonna lie though, that ending had me in the first half😉
First off, your channel is awesome! You have me cracking up each video 😆 So looking forward to seeing the movie this weekend and your Halloween reviews only hyped me up more!
Chris, your film analyses are getting really erudite and precise. You've become a really sharp critic, and it's been cool to see. Talking about exposition, motivations, subtexts--this is college-level stuff, and I say this having a master's degree in writing. (It'd be funny if you evolve into the host of PBS's MASTERPIECE THEATER.) Anyway, keep up the great work, and review HALOWEEN III sometime!
Oh man that is so kind of you to say! I still don’t consider myself a “real” critic as I just like saying what I liked and didn’t like lol but thank you!!
Just FINALLY, after a 2 then 3 year wait, watched Halloween Kills. After ALL the negative reviews it must've lowered my expectations or it actually IS the best Halloween sequel I've ever seen. I was on edge, surprised, moved, shocked and thoroughly entertained. Maybe the bad reviews were from non fans because I've been a fan since I saw the original at age 7 when it debuted on tv right before the release of Halloween II. All the things people were gripeing about didn't bother me in the least. It all made sense and was plausible, for the most part (Michael's durability being the only thing I need more explanation on). It was fast paced and intense and the flashbacks were VERY well done. I'm really excited to see how it all comes together and ENDS. Wow, it was worth the wait and superior to Halloween 2018. Highly recommended to fans and slasher fans alike.👍
I knew it. As soon as I saw a crowd of people chanting "Jusice!" in the trailer I was like no. NO. NOOOOOOO. It's not Halloween's place to make social injustice commentary
Thank you Chris for guiding us and putting the amazing hours of work for your videos. I love your videos and you are a star and I know great things will keep coming your way. Keep it up! Con mucho amor! - Angelica from San Francisco, CA.
If done right, the gory stuff is fine. Hostel for example was a masterpiece as it felt like that could really happen. As for this movie, if your only purpose in seeing it is to enjoy a lot of gore, you’ll enjoy it. If you like things like creative writing, good acting and anything resembling a cohesive plot you’re going to be incredibly disappointed. The acting is downright horrendous and I may have to go rewatch sixteen candles or breakfast club just to remind myself that at one point, Anthony Michael Hall was a good actor.
@@photolifetravel9108 They certainly delivered on the “Kills” part of the movie title. I like to leave any given horror movie with a creepy uneasy feeling which is part of the fun. Good example is that I can watch a movie like the Exorcist multiple times and every time, I’m absolutely creeped the F out and it takes a little while to get over it. Seems to me these days that the focus on horror movies is just fast paced gore and special effects opposed to that critical build up that gets the mind racing. I also enjoyed the kills in this movie for the simple fact he was eliminating all the horrible actors I never wanted to see again. There literally wasn’t a moment in this film where I was remotely scared. Was basically, “yep, he’s upstairs, character is going to go upstairs and won’t be long before he kills character”. The only unknown was “how” he was going to do it, LOL. I get what they were trying to do and just didn’t land with me.
@@thenextgreat8652 yeah, horror movies these days are definitely different than before. Watching the movie last night, I wasn't scared at all, I was just waiting for the next kill.

I loved it! Might be my favorite Halloween movie. Michael is fucking brutal!! The kills are no joke. Tommy was a bit over the top though. Some of the cops missing at point blank range is frustrating and some of the decisions. Overall pretty good and very entertaining.
A lot of times throughout I agreed when they made dumb decisions chose to look for him/ pursue instead of leaving their house lol if he’s upstairs out the door I go Michael gave them plenty of chances to leave etc so when it was time I enjoyed every sec with mike 😊 Only true victim was the guy who jumped from hospital……….after that I wanted everyone to go 🔪
@@dajourtaylor3643 lol facts! Poor guy, i felt bad for him. After watching again i think i was reacting more to Michael Myers than the actual movie because without a doubt that's my favorite Michael. The look and the mask were on point. Yeah some of the decisions are hard to watch. They do that that 1 guy vs 100 but the 100 are going to take their turn getting their asses killed instead of charging the one. When he faces the firemen and is surrounded by the town are both cool ass scenes but dumb af
I like that Tommy was over the top for one reason. He was at a bar drinking all night. It makes sense that he wasn’t making the best choices. Lonnie was seen drinking coffee in most of his scenes after the bar and you can tell right before he enters Michael’s house when he tells the kids to stay that he’s sobered up quite a bit. Tommy wasn’t drinking coffee and was just feeling his rage like a drunk person. The only thing that bothered me other than the overall retconning 2018 did, was the red haring. Michael is tall and in fit, Tommy and everyone was chasing a short fat goblin and at no point did it dawn on them that Michael is 2 feet taller than this dude. That was ridiculous. If the other dude was closer to Michael’s height it would played out much more realistic as is I just had a hard time believing that BS. 😂
The 1 man vs 10 men aspect does not bother me at all. If you have taken a martial arts class you will see not just that higher ranking students have more skill but they have more will to engage in violence. A group of firefighter ls are trained to save lives not take them so you have to consider the shock they were experiencing. The towns people actually did far better than i was expecting them to do again for similar reasons. These are normal people, they had him down and he caught them off guard when he came back at them. If you thought you won a fight and you were cooling down then the dude came back and lashed out at you worse then before it may catch you off guard. Tommy’s stunned response during that moment made sense to me. What i didn’t like was that being stabbed in the back so close to his spine when he was down should have fucked him up more than it did. The bullets i get. Geronimo was shot like 11 times, 50 cent was shot like 9 times some people are harder to kill than others.
Halloween kills was a 4/4 (great) the flash back from 1978 was done right and the kills are great as well, definitely liked the ending when the shape got his mask taken and trapped into a fight with the town.
As Halloween fan, if they wiped out the sibling aspect, then who is crazier? Him for being a serial killer or her for staying around, building a fort and waiting forty years for him to come back?? Nahhhhh😖
Ive watched all your Halloween reviews that got me pumped to ho watch Halloween 78, and Halloween 2018 before tomorrow when I watch Halloween Kills. I can't wait to see it
Just watched it today. I was kind of "meh" on it, mainly because of how they handled the legacy characters. I won't spoil it since this is the non-spoiler review, but I just wasn't happy with how they handled most of them. Some of the kills were awesome, and there were some good funny parts that had me laughing at times, but also I didn't find this as tense as Halloween 2018 and definitely not the same tension level that Carpenter was able to pull off in the original Halloween (1978). I'll probably watch it again and maybe a second viewing will change my mind, but my first initial reaction was, it was okay. I do agree the flashback to 1978, they hit the look spot-on and it was great. That I definitely loved.
In these past few years when “social commentary” is in a film it tends to be from anti-Semitic leftists. So when I see that is in this movie, I think it will be the first Halloween movie I skip
@@mitchellslan7408 so let me get this straight. The member of MENSA with 3 college degrees and 2 rabbinic licenses is the one making asinine statements. But the guy who cannot construct a coherent sentence is the pinnacle of intelligence? Must just be another anti-Semitic leftist
i love the film and i think alot of things are misunderstood. things like social commentary, comedy, etc. have been staples of the franchise forever. Tivoli's death is a more fleshed out version of Ben Tramer's death caused by Loomis, or Ted Hollister's death also caused by Loomis. "poor" character decisions also are the result of two things: the audience knowing more than the characters they're watching, and the need for the story to move forward. Michael goes from sneaky and efficient to clumbsy, brutal and inefficient once he attacks Laurie in the original. Same reason she kept dropping the knife. If these things are a problem in Kills, then its a problem for the entore franchise I think people forget these elements are already in the halloween films, Blumhouse just dealt with them in amore expansive way. The great pacing of the film is an example, although its also misunderstood. its like showing a baby being born, juxtaposed to a dying man. Its chaotic intentionally. i think this trilogy will age very well.
Halloween Kills is actually the first slasher I ever watched, it was also the movie that got me hooked to the subgenre and even favor other slashers, such as Halloween, along with Scream and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I even watched it's trailer and thought it was badass, so I decided tofwatch the movie on my computer, it was so damn good

I’m just happy it sounds like this is not another Halloween H20 to Resurrection situation. Sure, I’m prepared for Kills to have a few more problems than 2018, but it doesn’t sound like the drop off was as severe and glaring as it was from H20 to Resurrection, so I’m happy to hear that.

same man, im so much more of an optimist when it comes to films
So that’s all I can tell you.”
It excites me but it also really does worry me a bit.
And it was wreckless giving Laurie's grandchild a rifle to go hunt Michael. In other movies it was given to kids as a last resort to hide but protect themselves or not at all given. Maybe I am being too critical but lots of thing could've been done different. I'm going to set my expectations for Halloween Ends low so I won't be this dissatisfied when I watch it.
Though I will say "Still not as bad as Busta Rhymes and Tyra Banks in Resurrection. That was the apitemy of crap-tacular!"
The crowd was annoying also definitely

You should’ve put one were Micheal had a doctors coat and was heading out a pill “Halloween Pills!”
I agree halloween kills to me felt better but I’m probably gonna give the 2018 one a rewatch
@@ScorpionTomb yea ama re-watch kills

I'd love to be entered. I'm so hyped for this movie. Glad to hear about the kills. I love the gory stuff. Your background is freakin awesome!
@@thenextgreat8652 Yeah , I saw it last night and I completely agree. I still enjoyed the kills.

I loved it! Might be my favorite Halloween movie. Michael is fucking brutal!! The kills are no joke. Tommy was a bit over the top though. Some of the cops missing at point blank range is frustrating and some of the decisions. Overall pretty good and very entertaining.
Glad we agree on some stuff and happy you liked it too!!
A lot of times throughout I agreed when they made dumb decisions chose to look for him/ pursue instead of leaving their house lol if he’s upstairs out the door I go Michael gave them plenty of chances to leave etc so when it was time I enjoyed every sec with mike 😊
Only true victim was the guy who jumped from hospital……….after that I wanted everyone to go 🔪
@@dajourtaylor3643 lol facts!
I NEED that shirt!!! Also, I haven't seen Kills yet, but im going to watch it with my teenage sons this weekend. So hype.

"It's not a spoiler since it's in the trailer." You mean the same trailer that has footage and spoilers from the final 10 minutes of the movie? ...

i love the film and i think alot of things are misunderstood.
things like social commentary, comedy, etc. have been staples of the franchise forever.
Tivoli's death is a more fleshed out version of Ben Tramer's death caused by Loomis,
or Ted Hollister's death also caused by Loomis.
"poor" character decisions also are the result of two things:
the audience knowing more than the characters they're watching,
and the need for the story to move forward.
Michael goes from sneaky and efficient to clumbsy, brutal and inefficient
once he attacks Laurie in the original.
Same reason she kept dropping the knife.
If these things are a problem in Kills,
then its a problem for the entore franchise
I think people forget these elements are already in the halloween films,
Blumhouse just dealt with them in amore expansive way.
The great pacing of the film is an example, although its also misunderstood.
its like showing a baby being born, juxtaposed to a dying man.
Its chaotic intentionally.
i think this trilogy will age very well.
