Great insight, the batakari kese wasnt used in this battle. It was rather Opoku Ware Katakyie’s reign that the batakari was used
Asante after its creation surrounded itself with mysteries that has any earthly meaning simply because the new kingdom does not want to tell its origin. The fall of Denkyira was not by conquest but by PALACE COUP as a result succession fight and as a result many defected to help Kwaman including Amankwa Tia who was then a Denkyira military General. NYANSAPO TV tell Asante history with facts and not fetishism, gone were the days when such fetish stories were told to most illiterate groups.
Good observation. The fall of Denkyira was definitely by conquest. What should be made clear is that the Asante Armies included Amankwa Tia and some of his warriors and other Denkyiras who had defected and settled in Kwaman as a result of the succession dispute. These defections no doubt weakened Denkyira but it was still a great and powerful Kingdom. The Kingdom under Ntim Gyakari which the Asante defeated was a powerful one. Asante and their warriors and allies deserve their due for the conquest.
