I did not want to like Dr. Sturm products, but it was the best serum I have ever used. I noticed immediate moisturizing and calming effects on my dry, rosacea skin ( and I have tried many, many serums in different price ranges.)
Hi, I’m actually an Aesthetician at a Sturm spa. And I felt the same years ago. I just generally don’t want people to feel guilty or obligated to spend a lot on skincare. And I know good skincare can be made affordable! But, the skin transformations and the beautiful but not heavy glow people leave w after a facial and the long term changes I see in clients skin who use the products, is amazing! There are some really unique ingredients in STURM’s products that I think are worth it if you can afford it, particularly if you have certain skincare needs
I’ve heard explanations before but listening to you I realize there’s a difference between when a person has an actual explanation vs someone just reading or reciting! New subscriber here! Thank you 😊
I have been trying the discovery set and after 2 weeks I am really happy with the products, I have never seen my skin so healthy and glowing... I am really thinking to invest on the Barbara Sturm products and be poor but with a perfect skin at the end of the month 😃😅😂
I can understand! Their serums are where the brand shines IMO. FYI Net-a-porter does beauty kits with strum serums, right now they have one with a full sized calming serum and a bunch of other products and the entire cost of the kit is half of the price of the calming serum alone (yes! Seriously!) If you keep your eye out, they do them several times a year and thats where I get my sturm products: at a discount and with a bunch of free full sized products as well!
I’m so glad you explained why you held up the Anti Pollution drops! I was like, that’s not promoted as a HA 😂 makes sense now. Annnnd, the Anti Pollution drops are one of my favorite products and one her her lower price point serums (for her line) I have almost all my facial clients using the AntiPollution drops and it’s great!!
wow, that's just been incredibly informative! I love how you're breaking down the ingredients list so easily to understand for everyone! Thank you and keep on going! :)
Can you please do a video on the Dr Barbara Sturm Face Cream. I am interested in this line n would like to see if the Face Cream would work for me. I am 60 years old n have normal/ dry skin. Thank you!
Hey! Unfortunately their face cream doesn't work for my skin at all, so I don't anticipate making a video on it. Thats just how skincare works sometimes!
The benefits of absorption time (absorbing about a minute faster) and having a nicer texture are both such short term payoffs that hardly seem worth SUCH an extreme price gap, just my opinion
Thank you so much for your review. You are definitely a box of information and I 100% trust the content you provide. I’ve tried this serum in a sample several times and I have to say it may be worth me putting away 100$ per check to purchase this product. I’ve read different reviewers where it was expressed there was no actual change or performance but that is not the experience for me. I’ve wore this serum to work for 2 weeks and I was being told that I look young and in my 20s. I’m in my 30s and by the way I don’t not wear any make up. I wear a tinted 100% mineral sunscreen. This serum definitely makes my face feel hydrated, plump and add a little glow. For me it is worth the heavy price Tag. However I don’t know if this product is just as good in the cold and winter months when the air is quite dry. Overall thanks for the amazing review. I love reviews like this from others brands. ❤
I'm so glad that this product worked so well for you! Because of the price tag alone I did not want to love it, but I admit it works really well for my skin as well!
This is so amazing! I really enjoyed listening about it! it's such a good review! My skin is acne prone so I'd have to consider something for that! xx and also you look amazing girl! big hugs! this is such a good video! 😍
This is so helpful, thank you! Could you do more videos comparing less expensive brands like The Ordinary (etc) with more expensive luxury brands? Which expensive brands are actually worth it? Keep going! And thank you!
This is such great info Kat! I have dry skin and in winter it’s so dry here and in my home. So I’m thinking I may move my hyaluronic serum to my shower area so I can use it immediate room patting my face dry. A good idea?
Yes I use mine directly after a shower, which is how I recommend to use it in this video too :) It will really absorb the water from the air and keep your skin hydrated!
Amazing video! Love how you always break down the facts for us, especially since skincare can be so confusing sometimes. Can’t wait for your moisturizer video! 🥰
Hi Kat! This was so informative Thank you so much... your skin looks AMAZING Kat! would you ever do your favorite or top 5 HA's? Have you tried the Truth treatments one? (Abby Bliss WHite said it was alot like the Dr Barbara Sturm one) I looking forward to your moisturizer video! Love wendy
Thanks so much! SO kind of you to say :) I was actually going to do a dos and don'ts of using acids kind of video, but this is a great suggestion too! I haven't trie the Truth treatments one! The most similar I have found is the 111skin, but it is also really quite expensive too!
Hi, great video! I am hoping to change my current Hyaluronic acid serum (it’s the plump filler by Dior) for something more skin friendly. However I bumped in your video as I was willing to try the ordinary and what you say about the “film” it leaves doesn’t happen to me with the Dior one (or a more intense 1 month treatment with Hyaluronic and peptides) so should I skip this one? The reason I want to change is not hydration rather than fine lines, the one from Dior doesn’t do much against... Would you recommend any of the two for VERY sensitive combination skin?
This is a great question! I haven't used any of the products from the Dior skincare range. My favourite brand for sensitive skin is Votary, they have an absolutely insane super seed range which may not be exactly what you are looking for because they are oil based and not water based products but I have found that a gentle and nourishing approach wins the game in the long run when it comes to skincare so it could be worth looking into for your skincare routine. Both of these products could be fine for sensitive combo skin. If you have a Sturm counter nearby, I would recommend trying to visit in person whenever you get a chance in the future because they offer samples of their products, and I highly recommend trying products before investing in them! HA is a great product if you live in a humid place, but a bit tricky in the winter or if you live in a dry place.
So glad ur video is suggested to me. Very informative! Subscribed. May I know what is the updated ordinary hyaluronic acid serum? Because I also have dry skin. Thank you.
Hi! Thanks so much for the lovely compliment, really appreciated! The new ordinary formula is the marine hyaluonics! I want to check it out because I think the texture is going to be much better absorbing and better for layering with other products. If you do check it out let me know what you think of it! Thanks again x
Hey, a random question but if it says sodium hyaluronate on the ingredients list, does that mean they just labeled it wrong and have use hyaluronic acid or does this mean they did use the cheaper alternative "sodium hyaluronate"? Is there a way to tell? Thanks for your educational videos
I love your videos, they are so helpful. I have seen a lot of hype around biologique recherché lotion p50. Is this the same thing as any other hyaluronic acid serum?
I have heard a lot of hype about it too! It isn't a hyaluronic acid though, it is a chemical exfoliant with lactic, malic, salicylic, phytic, and citric acid. So you would use this product a few times per week before bed, whereas you could use a hyaluronic acid every day. For me, the p50 is a really intense product I would use to clear up a skin concern, otherwise I wouldn't use it myself since it is so powerful and I don't think normal and healthy skin really needs such a tough product!
Love this video. Actually am inlove with hyaluronic acid, but as you said not for dehydrated skin! For example now when weather is turning cold and dry during winter I feel that I can't use it :( and I like how relatable you are, you say straight away what your skin is like and people can actually relate to you which is great, they will know what to buy and what not to buy. Keep doing what you're doing hun, because you're great! ❤️
I also struggle with Hyaluronic acid in the winter! So kind of you to say, this is the sweetest comment, so glad you are liking my content :) Let me know if there is anything you want me to cover in a future video!
Wow! I was just making this comparison yesterday trying to figure things out. Thanks for explaining & going into such great detail!❤️❤️❤️❤️ However, this brought up a different question... I noticed that Dr Barbara Sturm’s HLA for Darker Skintones does contain citric acid.. what are your thoughts on that?
Thanks so much! So glad it was useful! That is actually a REALLY good question. I have been seeing brands doing different serums and products for darker skin tones, and I have to admit I don't really know why the formulation needs to be different so it was something I wanted to look into myself. As for Citric Acid, this is an ingredient I do not like in skincare products personally. I think it's an irritant to many skin types and there are less irritating ways to balance the pH of a product. It's not a dealbreaker for me in low quantities, but I prefer products which don't have it!
Omg yes I’ve always wondered about The Ordinary👀 since their prices are so cheap🙉 I always love how informative you are! The Moisturizers definitely sounds interesting can’t wait for that one☝️yes I learned that from you to put serums before your moisturizers🙂 wait what I didn’t even know that about using them on the plane😲
You should check the brand out, the ordinary is more or less unbeatable for the price point. I have tried several things from them, haven't loved any of them but haven't really disliked any of them either. Think it's very good for the price for sure! Glad that you feel like the video is helpful :)
Hi Kat, I am so glad you did this video b/c everything seems like it has hyaluronic acid in it. LOL. I definitely want to hear more about moisturizers and oily skin. I definitely live in a humid climate here in South Florida and I have oily skin. Great breakdown and fw.
Thanks so much! I am also shocked that it's added to basically everything, it's disappointing for me as someone with dry skin in a dry climate it can be really hard to use them in the winter but it's just carelessly thrown into so much without consideration for people like me! I am excited to film the moisturisers video soon, I hope to cover lots of important content in it :)
@@KatarinaLuise Your very welcome and you are right that they should take everyone into consideration. I can't wait to see the moisturizers video and all your other videos b/c I always learn something. :)
I know this is an older video of yours but would you ever review the whole Dr. Sturm Skin care / body care line ? I'm so interested in the line itself but want to make sure if im going to spend's that type of money that it is worth it! Thank you Kat !
Hey ! You are the Bomb :) Wondering if you might review The Ordinary products and let us know which one are worth buying... especially for mature skin ! Thanks for keeping companies honest & letting us know the real deal ;)
My skin is super oily and I always notice it gets worse when I’m slacking in basic care like drinking water and moisturizing!! I love, love, love Dr. BS but the ordinary is good. I live super close to the spitafield market store!
Totally agree! My skin falls apart when I don't have a proper skincare routine for sure! I love Dr. Barbara Sturm so much, but the price of the Ordinary is certainly much more accessible! Cool that you live near to the store!
Never knew people with oily skin when they get dehydrated it can then make their skin more oily. How interesting you shouldn't use it on a plane. I always learn so much from your video even though I'm pretty clueless about these things (don't know if you could tell haha) I try to keep up! Got to say I'm loving this new style of video. You can tell you've really thought them out and done your research and they're extremely informative!
Thanks so much! I actually have been TRYING to make these kinds of videos since the beginning of my channel, but I didn't think I had the ability to speak into the camera and deliver the content until recently, so I will try to do more of them! I just love talking about skincare :) So kind of you to say!
Have you tried pestle and mortar pure hyluronic? It’s very effective and mid price range, the brand is very focused on simple high quality and their version has only 3 ingredients.
Wow thank you so much for this video I absolutely love skincare, my skin isn’t really dry but it gets dehydrated in the winter time, so I love to use hyaluronic acid but I thought all hyaluronic products were the same 🤷🏾♀️ great video sis I love it I learn something new 😍
Yessss you really understand your skin and know what it needs! I'm glad you are already using HA it sounds perfect for you! The biggest difference in the products is the size of molecules and the texture of the product. You want a light one that sinks in nicely :) Glad that you found it useful x
I've been using The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid for a while and recently switched to TO Buffet instead - which I think is more or less the same but has peptides in. So would you say Dr Sebagh's Serum Repair sits somewhere between TO and Dr Barbara Sturm? Would you layer a Niacinamide serum on top of an HA serum or just not use them together? Really enjoyed this videos and am loving your channel! :)
Hi! Thanks so much! So kind of you to say :) I actually prefer the buffet as well, I think it's my favourite product from the Ordinary which I have tried so far! The Repair Serum is a cult favourite and really popular, my honest opinion is that it hydrates well but it is a bit on the thicker side and I prefer my HA serums on the lighter side. My favourites at the mid price point range are the Grown Alchemist one and the Skin Regimen (Davines skincare range) one. They are both really awesome! Niancinamide has gotten a bad reputation over the years but very new research has come out that it's much less reactive than previously thought! It is fine to layer, I would put the lightest serum underneath. Niancinamide is usually bundled with more occludent products, so it likely should go after the HA, but depends on the product! Occulents block the HA from absorbing, so you can go by feeling and layer the lighter products under the heavier ones. With serums it's also important to give them a couple of minutes to sink in (at least 5) or they can interact with each other or block each other. If for whatever reason you feel like the serums aren't behaving well together, you can try splitting them up on different days or do one in the morning and the other in the evening :) Hope that helps!
@@KatarinaLuise Hi Kat! Following on from this, I ended up purchasing the Dr Sebagh HA serum (he had 30% off!) and sometimes I layer this with TO Buffet in order to get those peptides! This is working well for me and I also continue to use my prescribed Differin/Adapalene. Just a quick question that I'd love your opinion on. I've heard a few Dermos on here talking about trans-epidermal water loss. After cleansing, I apply hyaluronic acid serums to damp skin and then once dried I apply Differin. After applying Differin I like to wait about 10 minutes before applying moisturiser and an occlusive. How long does it roughly take before water starts to evaporate from the skin? Naturally, I would want to apply moisturiser straight after the HA but I need time to allow the Differin to absorb! I suppose it depends on how much humidity is in the air, or lack thereof?? Thanks! :)
All the Barbara Sturm haters who slam her products because of pricing, need to watch this video. Nothing annoys me more than people who just simply compare Barbara Sturm to The Ordinary based on their own misinformation of ONE ingredient. You explained it well! Her products are very well-formulated I agree, as I have tried almost everything in her line and love 80% of them. They're very effective on my skin and every ingredient serves a purpose. If you have the budget, go to town with your spending and try her products. If you're concerned about spending that much, there is nothing that I can say that will justify the exorbitant prices. Because I can't and nobody can. Hahahaha..
Thanks so much for this thoughtful comment! I agree completely: I get good results with her serums in particular and I do really like them, but the price tag is also very steep. If someone said they are overpriced I can agree with that. If someone said but they work really well I can also agree with that! So it depends on your personal budget and preferences!
My skin is normal and it’s a little humid here sometimes! I guess I’ll have to try it like you said!! Ok just have try try different ones! Great video!!!
You should check it out then, it could be a game changer for you! There are soooo many on the market, I'm sure you can find one that works well for you :)
Do you suggest someone with combination skin but has sensitive skin still use the ordinary hylaronic acid? Or will it damage my skin? I haven’t had any reactions too it yet, but don’t want to risk it.
No it should be fine! Although any ingredient can be an irritant, the only common irritant in it is the citric acid which is in many skincare products. If you are using it without irritability, it should be a great product for you! Hope you are loving it!
Yes you can! The Hyaluronic serum would go first since it is water based and then the Sunday Riley luna would go next because it is oil based! It's important when layering serums to give them a couple minutes (at least 5) to sink in properly so that they don't block each other from absorbing or interfering with each other :)
Ah! That one has a very dedicated following! I am using it now too, I think it compares much more to the ordinary than the Sturm. The texture is quite thick and heavy, probably more suitable to a normal/combo skin than mine :) I hope you are loving it!
I feel like Dr. Barbara Sturm is more in the business of public relations than skincare. Her products are always mentioned by celebrities..but her products are very basic and wildly overpriced.
That's so interesting! I think a lot of people feel this way. I agree that the products are very expensive, but actually they are some of the best serums I have used. The texture and absorbency of the products is really outstanding, and I felt like it was the most effective HA that I have used. I still can't justify the price though!
Hi! Thanks for mentioning this! I should have been more clear in the video for sure, as what I meant was that a pH adjuster isn't required for a well formulated HA serum and most don't need it! So I would much prefer one of the many HA serums which don't have one :) I should have been more clear about that in the video :)
@@KatarinaLuise yes! and I actually bought the Rosacea Set as my skin has flared up due to mask use. Best way to get the full size bottles to a much better price. I have break-outs around the chin from the mask, for this I will get the smaller size serums. She's a marketing genius, gotta give her that.
Hi! That's exactly right! It isn't the only way to balance the pH of a product and it s quite irritating though, so I never like to see it as an ingredient. I am confused by the addition to this particular HA serum since most don't have it, and this one is relatively basic (compared to normal skin pH) even with the citric acid. I didn't really explain it well in the video and glossed over it, sorry for any confusion! I will be more clear in the future! Thanks so much for the comment, I love when people add information, especially since I wasn't that clear in the video and it can really help the other viewers understand it better :)
Citric acid is mostly used in small amounts to balance the ph of the product and bring it closer to the natural ph of the skin. It's usually irritating only in higher concentrations
Hi! Yes I should have mentioned this in the video (my bad!) but I still stand behind what I said since hyaluronic acid serums are not particularly basic and shouldn't require it, so its just not a great formulation that it needs to be added. unfortunately my skin is sensitive towards it, so I prefer products that don't have it!
Hi Kat, .i really love your detailed review. I don’t use a hylauronic acid serum. 🤗😘🌻. Nice to see your anti pollution serum 😊. I also don’t want to like expensive products, but often do 😭
It's so hard to fall in love with products that you cannot realistically afford to buy and keep around isn't it! I love serums, they are some of my favourite products :)
Great suggestion, I'll have a think about it! For air travel in general look for more occlusive products and avoid mists and humectants such a hyaluronic acid, since they will just dry your skin out in a dry environment like a plane!
@@KatarinaLuise Yes, Kat! WE really need your expertise on Travel Skincare as I thought hyaluronic acids would be great. 🤯 I hope you are well. Best wishes. 🤗 Hugs. 🥰
Sturm is crazy expensive! Glad to see some dupes !! Thx !! I’m all about cheaper clean beauty! I’m oily and sensitive too ;) still finding my favorite products
Great question! Serums are, unfortunately, quite expensive products due to the high concentrations of active ingredients. Of everything I have tried under 100 USD, I think the Ordinary is actually the best option. It performs really well for it's price point and is really hard to beat. If you are willing to splurge, the best product around 100 USD is the Skin regimen one, which is the one I am using right now (skinregimen.com/products/skin-regimen-1-85-ha-booster) it's 115 USD, but it outperforms more expensive serums in my opinion!
I appreciate the education, thanks a lot. Please make an Aesop (Parsley Seed Antioxidant serum) review as theres not much available in UA-cam. Thanks and more power!:)
Thanks so much for the lovely comment and suggestion! I haven't tried their parsley seed serum yet, but I do love this brand and have enjoyed many fo their things in the past! I will look into this one :)
I do not recommend a super concentrated HA for super dry skin unless you live in a super humid climate. I have always struggled with HA since I live in a really dry place. My best tips are to use it after a shower when the air is really wet as that will bind to the product and help hydrate your skin best. I also mist quite heavily to make sure it has a lot to grab onto!
Thanks for the question! My skincare routine is always changing, so I talk about what I am using in my morning and evening skincare routines. I will be doing an evening one when I get the chance but you can get a peak into my routine by watching my morning routine video x
Good morning,Kat✨ I discovered your videos, great informations! I have been using La Mer since 2001,saved my skin after a severe rosacea episode(blood poisening...). Internal treatment yes,but no dermatogist could suggest an adequate skincare. Since then,I stick to la Mer. With lockdown, stress etc;,I discovered Dr B Sturm, having a rosacea episode again, more like inflammation... My question...Dr Sturm serums are really good. Can I mix them with la Mer? As a serum,I still find Advanced Night Repair(Lauder) very effective, usin it as a moisturising serum, and soothing redness. I am 58 years old, sensitive skin, and I give priority to skincare! Thank you so much for your answer, great videos,❣️ Are you on Instagram ? All the best, Stay safe, À bientôt, Stėphanie 🇫🇷🙏
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that! I have some people in my family who have rosacea unfortunately and I understand how difficult it can be! La Mer seems a bit divisive because of the price but I agree that I get good results with them! I personally think that the serums are where the STURM line shines, and can definitely combine them with the la mer cream! And yes I am on instragram I will check it is properly linked on my about page, but I can warn you its mostly personal stuff and not as much skincare :P
Hello Kat, Thank you so much for your response🌹 I perfectly happy with your videos and if can ask some infos, great! Instagram is not THE priority ❣️ Apropos, serums,La Mer has two « best »,for me ... The Concentrate and the Brightening, brilliance essence...What do you think of them? Thank you so much for sharing! Dermatologists are not always « open »to other products than in pharmacy...I tried so many,to save some money,at the FAR MORE EXPENSIVE! What is expensive is not always good, but when it’s great, usually it is expensive🤷♀️ Stay safe💐🙋♀️
Thanks so much for the tip! I like Niod's formulas, they are a step up from the ordinary in many cases! I haven't tried their HA yet, but it looks nice!
Hey sweetie..lots of scientific information..I have seen (and I am very dry), that hyaluronic acid is making my skin dryer..😔I love it and the way it feels....thanks for sharing..😍😍😍😍😍
Great question, I would love to know this myself! Since it's not required, most brands don't put very much information on their products, so we don't know unfortunately. I hope this changes in the future though!
Very good review as always! Yasss ordinaryyy! They’re just so affordable all my skincare products are form the ordinary haha! I remember you saying you have some products from this brand so was good to see as this is my go to brand! 👏🔥
Thanks so much! Lots of people have started asking for the ordinary reviews, but unfortunately I don't have too many products from them. Do think they are great at the price point for sure!
Absolutely! And you can use it both in the morning and at night, best after a shower or when it is humid to ensure it has lots of water to grab onto and hydrate your skin with!
Ahhh yes. I haven't tried the Dr Barbara Sturm, it's definitely out of my price range, but I think more expensive serums are so totally worth it. Hyaluronic acid is aaaaalways in my skincare routine. I don't love this TO serum but actually liked the marine hyaluronics even less 😣 it was so watery and I felt like it has no effect whatsoever on my skin and it definitely didn't feel any more plump at all. Obviously costs nothing to try it haha! But their "Buffet" serum I seriously hated 😂 I love that you mention the importance of skin type, weather and such in relation to hyaluronic acid because I definitely feel like it's misused a lot! I have also read *SO* much conflicting information on hyaluronic acid molecular weight - anything from certain weight causing scarring to the same weight healing scarring wut?!?! I find it seriously confusing 😫🤯 Loved the video as always, I think it's so great that you're giving reasons for why an expensive product is better, backed up by facts, and not just "yes hello I'm 16 and my skin will look glowy even if I dragged it through mud and gravel" 😂 UA-cam seems to be a breeding ground for these people and I am so jealous of their skin 😂 Thank you for sharing, and I so know what you mean by wanting an expensive product to be a fluke so I can feel better about not affording it 😅❤️❤️
Thanks so much for such a lovely and thoughtful comment as always! I always appreciate what you have to add :) Interesting about the ordinary serums. To be honest I had to fight really hard to even get the ordinary products and.... I didn't either like or dislike any of them. I always recommend it as a budget product since the formulas tend to be relatively simple and they are a great way to "test" products before investing in them. I do want to try the marine hyaluronics, so I can see if it really is a better product as I expect it to be! I don't believe that hyaluronic acid causes scarring at any size if used properly, haven't read anything to back up these theories. Could be the additives to these products which are irritating people, or they could be using them wrong, or it could just not agree with them. As I mentioned, HA is not a product I get along the best with since it's not really the best for my skin type. I actually prefer other, more gentle humectants over HA. I honestly cannot explain how good this product is--it really is epensive but worth the hype. the other HA serums in my collection aren't cheap either (111skin, dr. sebagh, etc) but this one really is the best and worth the hype. SO good!
@@KatarinaLuise I think you nailed it with the TO products, they're not amazing or horrible, but they do serve their purpose for testing out a new type of product/ingredient. And I would LOVE a dedicated video to your favorite hydrating serums (or ingredients in general), and their properties 😁😍 (I know I'm asking a lot but I had to put it out there haha!) Ahhhh I really do want to try it, but I have such a difficult time getting those sample serums that are so ridiculously expensive in the full size, but I just *need* them after trying them haha! Nothing sells as well as a sample size 🤣 I will keep a look out for this though, although I'm sure they are far and few between!
I'm such a sucker for samples too!! Big fan :) I am planning a moisturizer video this weekend so hopefully it's what you want to see/hear :) thanks for the suggestion!
MaeLove brand has the best HYALURONIC ACID/B5 serum for 27 dollars. Doesn't pill, plays great with other products applied. It is a great dupe for Skinceuticals B5 gel serum.
Thanks for the tip! I haven't tried either of those brands, always love to hear about new products! That seems like a really great price point for a nice HA serum!!
I did not want to like Dr. Sturm products, but it was the best serum I have ever used. I noticed immediate moisturizing and calming effects on my dry, rosacea skin ( and I have tried many, many serums in different price ranges.)

Thank you for this comparison video. There are so many brands on the market these days!
SO glad you found it useful!
This is so amazing! I really enjoyed listening about it!
it's such a good review! My skin is acne prone so I'd have to consider something for that! xx
and also you look amazing girl! big hugs! this is such a good video! 😍
Thanks! So glad you liked it :)
This is so helpful, thank you! Could you do more videos comparing less expensive brands like The Ordinary (etc) with more expensive luxury brands? Which expensive brands are actually worth it? Keep going! And thank you!
Thanks so much for the feedback! I am trying to plan exactly those kinds of videos!
This is such great info Kat! I have dry skin and in winter it’s so dry here and in my home. So I’m thinking I may move my hyaluronic serum to my shower area so I can use it immediate room patting my face dry. A good idea?
Yes I use mine directly after a shower, which is how I recommend to use it in this video too :) It will really absorb the water from the air and keep your skin hydrated!
...Yes, Hyaluronic serum should apply on damp skin, and always seal all that hydration on the skin with moisturizer, esp. in dry climate 😘
Amazing video! Love how you always break down the facts for us, especially since skincare can be so confusing sometimes. Can’t wait for your moisturizer video! 🥰
Thanks so much! So glad you found it useful :)
@@KatarinaLuise I am looking forward to it Xo
Yes that is correct, they are different terms for the same ingredient :)
I can see so much creativity and hard work in this video! You really put in a lot of effort on your channel!
Thanks so much :)
Great video! Hope you will get another one soon
Thanks so much! I hope I can try more of them soon too :)
@@KatarinaLuise Thank you so much! That was the most helpful/straightforward answer.
@@KatarinaLuise you truly deserve it! And surely, will let you know!! 🤗

Thanks babe!
Appreciate your detailed reviews and explanation of how the product works. 👏👏👏
Thanks so much! So glad that you find it useful :)
Wow! I was just making this comparison yesterday trying to figure things out. Thanks for explaining & going into such great detail!❤️❤️❤️❤️
However, this brought up a different question...
Yess!!! Best channel ever!! Thank you for explaining everything in detail!! We need more videos like that :) Good work!! ❤️
Aww thanks so much! So glad you liked it :)
Great analysis and product breakdown! Loving your channel. 💜
Thanks so much!
i love how you explain the ingredient lists!!
Thanks so much for the feedback!
what a great review! u sounded so smart explaining each omg i can’t ever RELATE hahah
Thanks so much! really kind of you to say :)
Thank you so much for making this video
Can you do a video on the Dr Barbara Sturm Face Cream. I am older n have dry skin n this brand interest me. Thank you!
Here before your channel blowsssss up! Keep doing you- going to go far!
Aww thanks so much! So kind of you!

Thank you! Glad you liked it :)
I am thinking to get the Kate Somerville hyaluronic acid because of the price point and reviews of Barbara Sturm. Great video.
I haven't tried that one! But that's a nice brand so I hope it's great :)
I know this is an older video of yours but would you ever review the whole Dr. Sturm Skin care / body care line ? I'm so interested in the line itself but want to make sure if im going to spend's that type of money that it is worth it! Thank you Kat !
Thanks for the suggestion! I would love to but I haven't tried so many of the products yet, so hopefully one day!
#notificationgang 💘 Happy to see what you have for us today
Hey ! You are the Bomb :) Wondering if you might review The Ordinary products and let us know which one are worth buying... especially for mature skin ! Thanks for keeping companies honest & letting us know the real deal ;)
Thanks for the suggestion and the kind comment :)
@@KatarinaLuise All your videos are always so well thought out and extremely informative. The last two just felt different to me. Not sure why.

Dr strums blood cream and anti aging serum?
I haven't tried them yet but hope to try more of her products soon!
Have you tried pestle and mortar pure hyluronic? It’s very effective and mid price range, the brand is very focused on simple high quality and their version has only 3 ingredients.
That sounds amazing! This brand has been on my radar for a while, I will try to check it out thanks for the tip x
Can you do a side by side sturm and la Roche posay hyaluronic acid serum???❤
Thanks for the suggestion! I haven't tried the la roche posay serum yet!
Excellent reviews 😍 thank u so much
Very nice products :) Your skin is so pretty!!
So kind of you!
If for whatever reason you feel like the serums aren't behaving well together, you can try splitting them up on different days or do one in the morning and the other in the evening :)
Hope that helps!
Thanks! :)
holy heck my bank account just died along with me 😂🤦🏼♀️
hahahaha me too!
Can i use this together with sunday Riley luna oil? If so, which one do i use first?
Yes you can! The Hyaluronic serum would go first since it is water based and then the Sunday Riley luna would go next because it is oil based! It's important when layering serums to give them a couple minutes (at least 5) to sink in properly so that they don't block each other from absorbing or interfering with each other :)
I am currently using Dr. Sebaugh's Hyaluronic serum. Curious how it compares...
@@KatarinaLuise Hey, you know better than me! I wrote that at the beginning of the video. Just felt like I needed to get that off my chest lol
I think it's good that everyone shares their opinions! A lot of people feel this way about her products :)
This is again so interesting!😍💕
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it :)
Hi there! Could you make other videos about dr barbara sturm skincare? Like the brightening serum?
Thanks for the suggestion! If I am able to try more of her products, I will for sure!
Citric acid is not irrelevant in the product. It's a pH adjuster. It's used to bring the pH down. I'm a cosmetic chemist:)
Hi! Thanks for mentioning this! I should have been more clear in the video for sure, as what I meant was that a pH adjuster isn't required for a well formulated HA serum and most don't need it! So I would much prefer one of the many HA serums which don't have one :) I should have been more clear about that in the video :)
I bought Dr. Sturm serum as part of one of her kits and that brought the price right down.
Such a great tip! I love her little kits, it's such a great way to decide if you want to invest in the products or not!
Its safe to apply... Are you sure it not harms the skin
Hi! Yes they are safe to use, Hyaluronic Acid is widely used in many skincare products :)
@@KatarinaLuise thnkuuu sooo muchhhhhhhhh
Again, so informative. Thank you!
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it :)
Such a great video hun xx
Thanks so much!
Hi :) usually citric acid is added to lower the pH of the final product and it's added at extremely small percentages (usually less than 0.5%).
Hi! How does this compare to DBS's night serum? thank you
Great question! I haven't been able to try the night serum yet unfortunately!
Oh yeah. Been waiting for this review
Awesome review, thank you! :)

Love rose hip oil as a last step ! The ordinary is great ! 🌹
Glad you love the one! It's a very cost effective one too!
Please recommend Skincare Basics for Air Travel for Combo/Oily Skin. Can I still wear makeup or bb/cc cream to look decent?
Great suggestion, I'll have a think about it! For air travel in general look for more occlusive products and avoid mists and humectants such a hyaluronic acid, since they will just dry your skin out in a dry environment like a plane!
@@KatarinaLuise Yes, Kat! WE really need your expertise on Travel Skincare as I thought hyaluronic acids would be great. 🤯 I hope you are well. Best wishes. 🤗 Hugs. 🥰
another affordable HA serum is the SVR B Hydra Ampoule, have you tried it?

I love the Sturm serums but they really are crazy expensive!!
Kat Nord yes ! Thx god I find clean beauty on the cheap ! Love the deals in life . Never pay full price for fabulous 😆
You mentioned trying a plethora of other hylaronic acid serums. What is your favorite hyalronic acid serum that won’t break the bank (under 100)?
What about ppl use pure hyaluronic acids in skin care for dry ksin is it good or bad
Would love to see you do a review on Tata Harper!!
Thanks for the suggestion! I LOVE some her products and am a big fan of the brand!
Fabulous choices

Thanks for the question! My skincare routine is always changing, so I talk about what I am using in my morning and evening skincare routines. I will be doing an evening one when I get the chance but you can get a peak into my routine by watching my morning routine video x
Do you have a comparison with Lancôme and Image
I don't sorry!
Good morning,Kat✨
I discovered your videos,great informations!
I have been using La Mer since 2001,saved my skin after a severe rosacea episode(blood poisening...).
Internal treatment yes,but no dermatogist could suggest an adequate skincare.
Since then,I stick to la Mer.
With lockdown,stress etc;,I discovered Dr B Sturm,having a rosacea episode again,more like inflammation...
My question...Dr Sturm serums are really good. Can I mix them with la Mer?
As a serum,I still find Advanced Night Repair(Lauder) very effective, usin it as a moisturising serum, and soothing redness.
I am 58 years old,sensitive skin,and I give priority to skincare!
Thank you so much for your answer, great videos,❣️
Are you on Instagram ?
All the best, Stay safe,
À bientôt, Stėphanie 🇫🇷🙏
Hello Kat,
Thank you so much for your response🌹
I perfectly happy with your videos and if can ask some infos, great! Instagram is not THE priority ❣️
Apropos, serums,La Mer has two « best »,for me ... The Concentrate and the Brightening, brilliance essence...What do you think of them?
Thank you so much for sharing!
Dermatologists are not always « open »to other products than in pharmacy...I tried so many,to save some money,at the FAR MORE EXPENSIVE!
What is expensive is not always good, but when it’s great, usually it is expensive🤷♀️

Marine Haluronics is not sticky.
you should try Niod's MMHC, its soooo hydrating, absorbs instantly, not tacky, the results are perfect (I believe it has 5 molecular weights)
Thanks so much for the tip! I like Niod's formulas, they are a step up from the ordinary in many cases! I haven't tried their HA yet, but it looks nice!
Niod use too many ingredients which isn’t great for my sensitive skin :(
Hey sweetie..lots of scientific information..I have seen (and I am very dry), that hyaluronic acid is making my skin dryer..😔I love it and the way it feels....thanks for sharing..😍😍😍😍😍
So glad you liked it! Hyaluronic acid can be too strong for my skin as well, I prefer other more gentle humectants personally :)

and what are the percentages/ ratio of the different sized HA.
Great question, I would love to know this myself! Since it's not required, most brands don't put very much information on their products, so we don't know unfortunately. I hope this changes in the future though!
Omg I wish I had your skin ✨✨🥰🥰your skin is so clear🥺🥰🥰
Aww thanks so much!
Mam can i use it i am 20
Btw this video helped me so much on how to use Hylauronic acid 🥰
So glad that it helped!
Have u tried hada labo?
Not yet but I have heard great things and would love to try it!
Can I use hyaluronic acid at my 20s?
But their "Buffet" serum I seriously hated 😂
I love that you mention the importance of skin type, weather and such in relation to hyaluronic acid because I definitely feel like it's misused a lot!
I have also read *SO* much conflicting information on hyaluronic acid molecular weight - anything from certain weight causing scarring to the same weight healing scarring wut?!?! I find it seriously confusing 😫🤯
Loved the video as always, I think it's so great that you're giving reasons for why an expensive product is better, backed up by facts, and not just "yes hello I'm 16 and my skin will look glowy even if I dragged it through mud and gravel" 😂 UA-cam seems to be a breeding ground for these people and I am so jealous of their skin 😂
Thank you for sharing, and I so know what you mean by wanting an expensive product to be a fluke so I can feel better about not affording it 😅❤️❤️
Thanks so much for such a lovely and thoughtful comment as always!
And I would LOVE a dedicated video to your favorite hydrating serums (or ingredients in general), and their properties 😁😍 (I know I'm asking a lot but I had to put it out there haha!)
Ahhhh I really do want to try it, but I have such a difficult time getting those sample serums that are so ridiculously expensive in the full size, but I just *need* them after trying them haha!
@@KatarinaLuise Yesssss looking forward to it 😍
I hve clean skin but i want glow and upper lips lighter...
I hear, “scientists,” I subscribe
MaeLove brand has the best HYALURONIC ACID/B5 serum for 27 dollars. Doesn't pill, plays great with other products applied. It is a great dupe for Skinceuticals B5 gel serum.
Thanks for the tip! I haven't tried either of those brands, always love to hear about new products! That seems like a really great price point for a nice HA serum!!
