@@RocknRollSongbook and I speak for many here in the US 🇺🇸 when I say to you thanks so much for keeping these wonderful rock & roll songs alive for younger generations! 🎸
Great stuff, well played and sung ( I like the echo) My favourite Chuck Berry song. First heard it around 1957 when a neighbourhood kid played it to me. It was the first 45 I had seen (new technology ! ) I think it had a yellow label.
Thanks very much John! I wish I could have lived through that era of music. I think 'Reelin' and Rockin'' was released as the B-side of 'Sweet Little Sixteen'.
Thanks very much Lawrie! That's good to know. It's not too difficult. Once you have these riffs down you can play dozens of great rock'n' roll and rockabilly songs. Let me know if you need any tips.
Love your style of Rock ‘n’ Roll. I used to keep this one gong for up thirty minutes at liv gigs….so much fun making up verses on the fly. I reckon we’d have some great jams together, but I’m in Australia and you’re in the UK.
Thanks very much Merv. This is a great one to keep going if people are dancing, eh? ...to keep them on the floor. Yes, get on that plane and head over to England for a jam!
@@2508wolfman I have made a tutorial for 'Twenty Flight Rock'. Here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/KiniZ2euudY/v-deo.html It's a 1957 Eddie Cochran song by the way.
@@RocknRollSongbook I know, Jez, but this song meant a lot to Macca, didn´t it? It opened the door to the Silver Beetles.. (John was quite impressed;) I will have a look and will do ASAP, THX!!!
That's correct. Although here in the UK, 'Twenty Flight Rock' had become a 'standard' in the repertoires of most budding rockers of the day, who were emerging out of the skiffle craze. I'm a big music history nerd, and I love talking about this stuff, so please forgive me for rambling on a bit: In interviews Paul used to like to point out that he also played 'Be-Bop-a-Lula' to John at the Woolton Church Fete in July 1957, but no-one seems to remember that these days. He says that he played neither of the songs very well (nothing like in the film 'Nowhere Boy'), as he had to play them on a right-handed guitar (Paul being left-handed). John was actually impressed that Paul knew all the correct lyrics, not with his guitar playing, although Paul was much better on the guitar than John. At that time the group was still called 'The Quarrymen', and they kept that name until well into 1959, as that was the name on Colin Hanton's drum kit. Rod Davis of The Quarrymen is a friend of mine btw (Rod was more or less replaced in the group by Paul). It wasn't until May 1960 (nearly 3 years later) that they first called themselves 'The Silver Beetles'. Before that they briefly called themselves 'Johnny and the Moondogs', and the duo of John and Paul called themselves 'The Nerk Twins' (inspired my comedian, Spike MIlligan and 'The Goon Show).
Been to England once about 5 years ago. My wife used to live in Stevenage, and we spent a lot of time n cemeteries looking for family graves. We stayed at a place called St Neots where her cousin lives.
I hope you got to see a little more than cemeteries in Stevenage? Hehehe. I know St Neots a little bit and I have a friend I visit occasionally in Stevenage. I live much further north in West Yorkshire though.
So good with the Rock a Billy Acoustic playing..... like it best when you have a bit of a run in-between chords...also intros and exits with notes and chords, get some use out of that guitar......
Nice Mr keep on Rocking much appreciated.
Thanks Norman! 😊👍
Always loved the live version of this song. Great lesson and as always keep those oldies alive for younger generations!! 🎶
Thanks again Jeff! I really appreciate your words of support.

I'm looking for a new guitar with this sound. Have you got some tipps? Thanks
I'm playing a Gibson J45 standard, with .012 - .054 gauge Martin strings. I set up the guitar myself and I made the nut from a bone blank.
Thank you for a great lesson

Guess you've seen the 1972 chuck berry concert. Think my favourite is this one "Let It Rock" ua-cam.com/video/4FWiTachPWk/v-deo.html
Yes, that's a great concert recording. I saw Chuck live a few times, and he blew my mind.
