Vince doesn't try to do to much. He is so professional that he just hangs back and lets her do her thing , while also adding to the song. He's great. Also that solo is melodic as hell.

This song was only released to country radio during kellys push to country music. Mr. know it all country version-dont rush-tie it up. got her a grammy nomination and a female vocalist nom at the CMA... but the song wasnt released to the more obvious more appropriate format which were adult top 40/hot AC & adult contemporary/AC radios ... it wouldve been a classic!! But I understand their reasoning, country radios are fickle, they like their songs exclusively for them and kelly was trying to break into country. That didnt last lol 😂

In the interview Patcast by Pat Monahan in 2013, over an hour, Vince mentioned how impressed he was by Kelly's voice. When he was recording "Don't Rush", he could really tell the quality of her voice. This rendition had such sweetness created by both. I am a huge fan of Vince. Congratulation to Vince on receiving the highest CMA honor as the second musician ever to receive - the Irving Waugh Award of Excellence this year.

Country music NEVER lets me down. Of course it isn't as good nowadays as it was during its golden days in the 70s/80s but THIS performance certainly does justice to those years.
Kelly Clarkson is a wonderful singer who does what a singer is supposed to do. SING the song. Sing it according to its context. No wailing and screaming out the lyric to the last syllable.
She is a perfect example of controlled interpretation.
Meaning she doesn't sing it Kelly Clarkson "style".
She sings the songs the way the writer intended for it to be sung minus cheap vocal theatrics. A beautiful blend of power, emotion and tenderness without either quality overshadowing the other.

I just heard this song for the first time while laying at the hotel pool in Miami, FL and I had to Shazam it to see who was singing it. Why oh why was this not a "hit" song for her? It should have been, no doubt. Glad there is this video of it. I still think it could be a "HIT" even in today's time period.
