      I hate the heat more than anything because when it is cold you can always throw on a hoodie or something. When it is hot is sweating your nuts off and it sucks when you are trying to work on something and sweat is rolling in your eyes. Probably be picking myself up a Mini-split as well before too long!

    From a 25 year hvac service vet. Make sure that "box" is far enough away from the unit as to not cause hot air coming out of the unit to be recycling back in the unit. Usually 16 inches from the house and 16 inches from the box is rule of thumb minimum. Just a heads up. And have it cleaned and serviced yearly, as required to keep warranty in effect (buried in the fine print) also clean filter religiously every 30 days if it needs it or not, possibly sooner depending on dust levels in conditioned space. Enjoy the cool brother. Ps tinting those 3 windows with mirror tint will help tremendously as will insulating garage doors.

    Chase, those garage doors are going to leak a lot of heat. You may want to look into foam panels that fit into the garage door. They're usually pink or blue, but they will help keep the heat either in or out of the garage depending on the season. Should be pretty cheap, too.

    Hi chase!
    Getting some AC info for you, the wires that are running between the units are actually pipes were the refrigerant run in. So what happening is that you are moving heat from the inside unit to the outside unit with the refrigerant. And now to your next problem. If you cover the outside unit you won't be able to remove the heat that it transfers from the unsor unit. And it will stop on a security measure. (Probaly something like 38bar pressure) so remove the box asap. Btw they should have put channels to run the pipes in the laundry room to make it look better. Best regards from Sweden.

    The mini split changes the game for garage work! I installed a PTE charged system myself...it was super easy and mine even plugs into a wall receptacle so even easier 👍🏼 No more condensation in the garage when the weather changes! Next on the list in a door going to outside, so I don’t have to keep opening and closing the garage door and letting out all my heat/A/C! By the way love watching garage builds too!!!

    Make sure your box does not cover the fans. You will have issues with the unit if you cover them.

  • @isaaclarson
    @isaaclarson 4 роки тому +1

    The power going to the unit likely is one or both of the following:
    - runs on 220V (normal wall outlets are 120V)
    - requires a higher current (amperage) than what is carried with wires used for a normal outlet and breaker. Therefore it potentially uses a special breaker and thinker wires.
    Also, the outdoor unit has power cables running to it as well as coolant lines. The coolant (typically freon) is the liquid that's used to transfer the heat from the air in your garage to the outside air.

    I got a HotSpot from Zamna solutions and it broke down after the first usage. After several weeks (well over a month, possibly 2) Mark Soja ("the tech support person for the ACDC systems") finally sent me a replacement part that is super complicated to install. I have my mini-split installed on the wall up near the ceiling (where everyone has them installed). All Mark sent me was a vague PDF titled "IDU Disassembly. Neither HotSpot nor Zamna offer any type of service to fix or return their defective mini-split. Their product and their customer service is bullshit, if you ask me. I intended to test this first one out and if I liked it I was going to buy and install them in the other 4 rooms. But now, why bother buying junk. Stay away from these companies unless you like buying trash. And, if you do like buying trash I have a HotSpot I would like to sell you.

    Personally I'd build, (or get a prebuilt,) storage shed for the garbage cans. Add lattice fence section as oppose to "the box" idea. Unless there isn't room between outside unit, and driveway, in which case a short fence would do. More importantly though I'd insulate the doors. Keep the conditioned air in garage, and reduces outside noise coming in while filming.
