More than his abrupt accent changes, I love when Anansi uses both accents in the same sentence.
What a powerful story. Anansi's stories gets better and better
In first season I didnt like him much but in second he become one od my favorite
I love that Thor really respected Anansi!
This guy is a brilliant actor. I'm so sad i heard they fired him for speaking truth, hurtful as it may be.
Much appreciated man not all our wrong it's just who u meet and the funny thing is I'm not talking about the show so yea....u got it.....my friend
Bullshit. What truth? He was written out because his character doesn’t feature in the book’s plotline which the coming season follows. Also, he was feeling himself and wanted to inject themes of incarceration and crap like that into a show about MYTHOLOGY. The showrunners had the right to say “no” to that. No conspiracy here.
MICHAEL DUKES except those themes are present in the books too and as for that pathetic excuse for why they wrote him out, come on now, this show has diverged from the books practically from the get go. It says something that the guys who got fired are the angry black god and the gay Arabic jinn...
Hmmm seems some people can wake up from the...Matrix remember this. My friend
I try not to cry when I hear him speak. Because I know he's talking about what happened to us every time, after time, after time. Because it's true, true, true, a living truth at that to this day.
It’s deeper than that. Before the slave trade, Europe was becoming poorer while the Ottoman Empire was becoming richer. The main trade posts in Africa were built by Portuguese to supply their ships as they attempted to find a route around Africa to get to India. When the African kings and European kings became acquainted, they initially treated each other as equals. Then African kings wanted the power that guns and canon gave. The European rulers saw suckers to take advantage of. The African kings sold slaves. Then the European traders began going straight to the suppliers. After 100 years, many Africans were transported as slaves, and the African kings lost so much trust, that rebellions by disaffected subjects became common. Then new, rival kingdoms began to form. By the 1800’s, European rulers leveraged those rivalries to colonize most of Africa. The West African kings of the 1500’s and 1600’s are all Mr. Nansi.
African kings sold war criminals as slaves but we should also remember there was no such thing as chattel slavery in africa
He was talking about the goddess creator and the Sybils in Africa.
caveman Versace Correct. I don’t feel sorry for a people who weren’t intelligent enough to protect their history by writing it down. Passing it on verbally, from parents to children only works to a point. Disease’s,war, natural disasters. Any of these could wipe out an entire people.
@@doubleheadedeagle6769 A lot of stories were passed down by spoken word because writing wasn't developed. Intelligence wasn't necessarily an issue in regards to protecting their history. Tradition itself could take priority over worrying about a culture's exact history and I wouldn't complain.
@@doubleheadedeagle6769 You're speaking like a modern ignorant person. This is telling of a history before plagues, catastrophes, world wars, and the such. Man couldnt even comprehend that sort of thing back then. It was all about living your life in the present while sharing the tales of the past.
No internet, books, or movies to tell them what was to come how things could change. You have so many forms of fiction and non fiction to create a form of basis for your statement when back in those times those concept weren't a reality.

I am never going to endorse this show unless they rehire this artist , Mr Orlando Jones. No one else can play this role so passionately. He is a gifted artist.
It sounds like a story of inequality breading inequality all the while being used and mistreated.
Moral of the story don't let others manipulate you through flattery and praises.
What he says about his homeland still existing but not for him is how I as a Black American feel about Africa.
It’s for u always will be for u and to All the diaspora we just all got to stop fighting each other and come together we Africans love y’all and we embrace y’all

@@julianaansah6367not really. Too much time and vitriol has passed. I learn the old ways and the old gods but there will always be a disconnect and active colonization supports it. I still stand for a united Blckness but I do not think it is a reality that will ever come to fruition. The Diaspora is not my home and it is inhospitable to Us but it is what it is.
Beautiful and artful telling of the history of the colonization of Africa and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
I understood what he was saying but I couldn’t break it down and now I see it was translating towards the slave trade...the world where women ruled was Africa, the motherland ??

Almost every God in mythical(& just real)history has been mischievous and chaotic. Funny how those 2 things bring about clarity though. Wonder why they made him that as well.

Black women were considered equal in Africa before colonization destroyed their way of life. We need to know who we really are.
Same thing with the the Celts and the Roman colonization. Different cultures, same result. Plus no matter what you identify as, you are always one thing: human. And with humanity comes suffering.
I miss this show so much and I miss Anansi the most every time I think of anansi I think of Orlando it’s crazy

I was just thinking, how fucking amazing would this actor be as a villain in black panther 2?
I figured he could be a new villain known as Reverend Achebe. He has the wily trickster vibe down.
Its either Jesus or anansi at this point. Wow what a character
Story sounds a bit like the story of Prometheus.
You should look up Anansi. He was maybe on of very few people's gods. Everything he did was to help humans. I think there's quite a great story about bringing people shade when there was only day. I think they did a great job portraing this character. I've always felt like he was the only god than was smarter than Odin and he saw through all of his bullshit, but decited to tag along to make sure that his people won't get hurt.
The idea of fire origin has been reincarnated all throughout nations Anansi is older then Prometheus and probably based off Anansi. Anansi is the God of stories so Prometheus's story is Anansi's story
Ok I won’t lie, but that sounds like a mistranslation. From the stories I have heard from some friends of mine from Jamaica, Anansi was very selfish and quite gluttonous. He won the ability to tell stories, yet originally planned to use it for himself and only gave it to humanity when he tripped and fell. And he tricked all the gods and animals into giving away their food for him. Yeah he is cool, but he is very much like other gods.
@@dylantennant6594
That's what this story is about.
He never said that he wasn't selfish. He said that he paid for that selfishness. He didn't give man fire because he thought they deserved it, he did it because they said they would worship him. Anansi is a selfish God, but that doesn't mean it can't learn or grow. This is a modern Anansi, not a young God.

For black panther 2 he should play Achebe. Achebe. Achebe is similar to Amani’s in some ways. In black panther comics Achebe family was killed right in front of him . He is kinda like the Black Joker. I feel like he could deliver a performance with that character. Achebe is a villain but this actor would fit Achebe well.

He wanted to have that same power that the goddess had but becuz he was a "Man" he was denied that, so he decided to go and find "power" which in turn was a mistake. He was done by his own lack of knowledge. To be fair the goddess we're also being unfair to him before he left... it's very messed up
