    5. SOUNDBITE: (English) Morgan Tsvangirai, Zimbabwean Opposition Leader:
"All we are saying is that no we can't put a deadline. What we are saying is that there are key issues that should be resolved. The issues of legislation, the issues of allocation of these portfolios, and we have said that we are not walking away from the deal. We are part of the deal and we believe the deal can resolve some of the myriad of problems that Zimbabwe is facing, but there are certain pre-conditions that should be addressed."

    7. SOUNDBITE: (English) Morgan Tsvangirai, Zimbabwean Opposition Leader:
"The finance ministry alone does not deal with the critical issues as far as we are concerned. If you look at the security cluster which is a very key priority for the people of Zimbabwe, the issue of fear, the issue of victimisation and the issue of violence is uppermost in the minds of Zimbabweans. That's why for us it is the focus ministry, to be controlled by us because we have been victims of this repressive regime. And therefore unless you are able to share these security ministries you are allowing Mugabe to have a monopoly over these institutions and he can always use those institutions against the opposition."

    9. SOUNDBITE: (English) Morgan Tsvangirai, Zimbabwean Opposition Leader:
"Well if he wants to proceed with a government without us, I know that he knows that it is unrealistic and that that government will not be functional. He needs us, we control parliament and also he needs the deal for his own sake, to salvage his own legacy."

    11. SOUNDBITE: (English) Morgan Tsvangirai, Zimbabwean Opposition Leader:
"My appeal first and foremost is that the people of Zimbabwe are facing a dire humanitarian situation in terms of the food situation. By January we should be feeding over five and a half million people which is almost three quarters of the population."

    STORYLINE:
Zimbabwe's opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai said on Tuesday that his party is not backing away from a power-sharing arrangement with President Robert Mugabe.
But he told journalists in Paris that he couldn't set a deadline for an agreement and that certain pre-conditions had still to be met.
Tsvangirai was speaking after a meeting with French parliamentarians inside the French National Assembly in Paris.
A September 15th power sharing arrangement has yet to be established because of worsening tension between the Mugabe government and Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change.
Tsvangirai said that the security ministries inside Zimbabwe's government should be given to his party - and not simply the finance ministry which apparently had been offered up by Mugabe as the economy collapses.
Tsvangirai was due to meet with the French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner on Tuesday - France is the current holder of the European Union presidency.
On Monday in Strasbourg, Kouchner and the EU Development Commissioner Louis Michel said they stood steadfast in support of Tsvangirai.

I understand - but I have lived through the terror just fine and in silence. Dragging it on longer, is not in honour or good sense. Which is the barometric I navigate my life through.
And yes, I need you. You are family. I too am a citizen.
