    What did you guys think of the experiment? Which one do you like best?

    • @jeffm3283
      @jeffm3283 5 років тому +2

      I was hoping the primary colors would blend more to make different colors. Thanks for doing the little experiment it was educational for me. I did something like this with acrylic paint that was mixed heavily with water and when I combined them I got different colors going down my canvas, so maybe the difference is just how well the paint mixes with itself.

      @@jeffm3283 yes, it matters the pouring medium and the consistency for mixing on the canvas

    Beautiful baby!! I love them all. I think I like Floetrol lines that blended. The GAC 800 is so shiney, I love that. The polypour really shows the holograms. The last one, the Liquitex colors are the best. So 4 is my fave. I truly appreciate your time and effort to test them all allowing us to see how they worked. You are very kind to share your experiment. That is talent, and generosity at best.

  • @mejenks1

    Hi Molly, thanks for this! I wanted to mention that the polypour is an acrylic binder while the others are pouring mediums. Pigment needs an acrylic binder to become paint. And then a pouring medium is added to the paint to assist with flow. (For this conversation, we can call Floetrol a pouring medium, though it isn't really...) The reason you got the results you did is because you had three that didn't include an acrylic binder... and one that had an acrylic binder but no flow aid. Notice that the only one that adhered to the sides of the canvas was the Polypour, the acrylic binder. Pigment plus polypour is the same as, or equal to, a liquitex basic or a golden paint... except that you get to control how much pigment is included in the paint recipe. It might be interesting to try another experiment where you mix the pigments with polypour... and THEN add the paint mix to the three different pouring mediums.... i.e three canvases instead of four. Thanks!

    • @MOLLYSARTISTRY
      @MOLLYSARTISTRY  4 роки тому +1

      While I do agree with you, liqitex pm and gac800 do have some binders in them, they are not just flow aids in my opinion. Floetrol I completely agree not a good binder. But I think yes you are right, the pigments needed the polypour to stay together better which is why the company created it that way in the first place. You in essence make paint by combining the pigment and binder together. This video was more because people didn't always have the polypour and wanted to see how the different mediums would react with the pigments. Thank you for your comment, very helpful!

    • @grandmamichellesart-michel2668
      @grandmamichellesart-michel2668 4 роки тому

      @@MOLLYSARTISTRY yes I agree that there is likely some amount of binder in the golden and liquitex pouring medium. Based on the experiment in the video it seems that there isn't enough to use these for the purpose of an acrylic binder. Sure! It could be used. No doubt! It's just the pigments are pretty expensive so for me, I want to use it when it's in it's best form. :)

    They are all pretty. I like them all Can't choose a favorite. Thre middle two did pour and spread very fast. You'd have to be careful not to loose colors off the edges. As for the colors I like the 1st one, as I wouldn't want the paint to pull away from the edges. I just like the thicker paint.
    The GAC800 # 2 would be my next choice
    They all are beautiful though. I'd have all of them on hand. You'd never guess that all were from the same pigments !!!
