Introduction to Altmetric for Communications (10.24.2023)

In this session, we’ll quickly cover Altmetric basics before diving into how you can get a better understanding of how Drexel research is being discussed online and how it is having broad influence. You’ll learn how Altmetric differs from media monitoring and how altmetrics offer powerful insight into when and where Drexel research is mentioned in policy, patents, Wikipedia, social media, and beyond.

Patty Smith joined Digital Science in 2019 after working for over 5 years as a librarian in both hospital and academic settings, where she developed a passion for science communication and research impact. She is a product specialist for Altmetric and Dimensions, which are companies within the Digital Science portfolio.
