  • You guys have asked for it so here are two awesome communication apps and devices for nonverbal autism and related disabilities. The iPad app GoTalk Now is one of the best we've found for our autistic daughter to help with her communication. I just recently found CommBoards AAC app for Android and I have to say that it is a great app as well. Whether you are iOS or Android you can't go wrong with these communication apps.

    Our Charlie has the LAMP Words for Life app on her IPad
    I’ve seen A LOT of kiddos REALLY do well with communicating with this app.
    I STILL haven’t learned how the app works all the way through and the app IS CRAZY EXPENSIVE! It cost $300 when we purchased it and we got it 50% off for Autism Awareness Month in April of 2015........
    We were fortunate and had $150 worth of ITunes cards gifted to Charlie along with her IPad Mini AND an Otter Box ALL due to Jazmynn’s Voice who gifts non verbal people iPads in the Jackson, Michigan area. Wonderful Family! Jasmynn is Autistic and her Family has made it their mission to gift as many non verbal people with IPads as possible in their area. I wish we had more Families that do this because it helps so......many!
    THANK YOU SO........MUCH FOR SHOWING MORE COST EFFECTIVE WAYS TO GET PEOPLE WHO NEED THESE DEVICES THESE DEVICES!!!!
    YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!
    I truly enjoy watching your vlog!!!!!
    IF ANY1 in the Jackson, Michigan area is in NEED of an IPad for a non verbal person you can find Jasmynn’s Voice on Facebook

    Really helpful video, as are the comments. My son is 14 and can speak but what is going on in his head is much more complicated than he can get out, which leads to a lot of frustration. We are considering a device to help bridge that gap.

    Hey guys!!! Priscilla this comment is for you. I have a fun idea for your little cooking segment. I think it would be fun to maybe once a month....choose a food (like desserts) and have us send you our favorite recipes, you make one of your choice, and your family try them! Just an idea! Lol I’m totally going to try your dinner you fixed the other day and I just had an urge to share some of my favorites with you guys :)

  • @2380Shaw
    @2380Shaw 4 роки тому +1

    it's sad that kids get autism like that but even though some don't speak I bet they're smarter than most. We just don't know all they can do if they don't speak. I always struggle learning and making friends which I suspect is Dyspraxia but I'm fortunate to be able to talk, read and write. I learned things like reading, writing, tying my shoes and bike riding at a much later age then most. I didn't even learn speed typing until I was 28yo. Now learning French at almost 40

    edit: how come she doesn’t have any words for pain?

    • @fatheringautism
      @fatheringautism  6 років тому +13

      It would have to be taught. We would need a reference and a reinforcer. Basically impossible to teach her without her actually being in pain or sick. Even then there’s no tangible item. Most of Abigail’s language consists of demands so that would be a stretch for her.

    Our SLP started a Novachat 8 trial with our son who has level 3 autism, nonverbal. The device seems way too complicated to be effective for him. Would you recommend trying the Go Talk Now app? I checked into it after watching your video and it seems like he would transition to that more successfully. We had been using PECS up till now.

    Hi I have Autism myself but I am 30 and growing out of it I am verbal. I am currently babysitting a family with 3 kids and the oldest one is 7 and has Autism just like Abbie I want to buy her the best one. Should I buy both of these. Can you please put a link to where I can purchase these tablets and iPads so I can use the best one for her. Is there a cover for it and a protective screen because I have a feeling she will drop it and it will break. Also this kid is a runner like Abbie any ideas on how to keep them from running off and trying to escape out of the house. Her eye contact is really bad and she is ignoring me and not doing anything I say because I don't know what to do. Can I send you money to buy me one because I have no idea on how to put that app in this video on there since I do have Autism myself I'm still learning about how apps work. Please respond back to my comment. I have been following you and your beautiful family and Abbie for years now and I still can't find that app you are using. That app will help me to since my hearing is going bad.
