Hi Jerry tried to watch all the vid but in the hospital after a major surgery for the benefit of my health just recooperating finish one day soon looking good so far !
Some thirty very relaxing minutes after work today, my bending of electrical cables doesn't cope with the curly sides, great video. Another millimeter guy!
I bet that it is very satisfying to do that. I use to make model air planes it was fun. But this is lot harder I would imagine to do. I will just watch you.
Your skills are commendable and your attitudes and nonchalance way of making things work is fantastic. Keep up the good work and I will keep on watching and cheering for you on.
Really subtle subliminal message there Jerry!! Unfortunately I am in Blackpool, England, and the only deer we have are in the local zoo!! I will ask though.............. !!!! Great video.
Looks like the twins are going to grow up beautiful like your previous instruments. Hope you find a supplier of deer antler too. I guess with your work load your really going to have to keep on truckin. Take care of yourself and well my friend.
I didn't see the subliminal message but I have a strange urge to go out and look for some Deer antler 👍🏻 Peace and Love Jerry you are a magician with wood 👍🏻☮❤
Is that mallet you used to tap down the sides in the form a part of a chair or table leg? Looks like a judge’s gavel... Thanks for showing us your methods; always entertaining!
i just got my first mandolin today :D thats how you know you made a good inpretion :) gues that hapens when somone with autism gets intrested in something :)
Coming along real nice there Jerry. I don't see any new cuts on your fingers, did you go on a holiday? Really miss the blue grass intervals of you and your band.
Hi Jerry, can you please elaborate a bit on the thickness of the side pieces? The Siminoff book says to thickness to 0.125” for the bending process with final sanding down to 0.110” - 0.115”. This seems awfully thick to me and I noticed you took the pieces all the way down to 0.070” prior to bending. I am on this step now and am sort of stuck because the practice bending so far has gone ...horribly 😂 Thank you!
If your Maple is real curly then you'll definitely want to go a maximum of about .080. I would recommend .070. Even then it's not easy. My new bending machine I made makes it far easier but even with that it's not simple especially if the wood is real real curly.
Okay thank you, I will give that a try. That’s much more in line with the McDonald book which I am using as a supplement, which says 0.085”. Trying to bend the 1/8” curly maple had me worried that I wasn’t going to be able to do it at all! As always, thank you for the videos and your responses. I am using them step by step as I build my first.
Is the water you use for bending distilled? If no is there any problem with the minerals in any water or if it had been chlorinated (or other municipal water plant chemicals) that you're aware of?
Has minimal traces of iron due to regional water aquifer. It shows up as orange or faint brown ring on metal pans or tanks or water troughs on farms. Also , people have described the dreadnaught guitars he makes as sounding like cannons.
Nicely done Jerry! Message received😁 I only use moose antlers, works great for me, have you tried it? Keep the videos coming! Take care from millemeter land
Question: were the side pieces thin enough that your planer didn't have a fine enough adjustment to get them to dimension? Or maybe there was too much of a chance for tear-out with the planer? Your comment about the amount of sanding off camera makes me ask.
Planners are far too dangerous to use on that very brittle wood. In fact you can't even begin to plane it to thickness it will bust it in pieces. Ask me how I know.
Great video!! I’m working on my first mandolin currently and the 1/8” curly is near impossible. Going to thin it on down. I’m currently using a homemade makeshift bending iron. Which iron are you using here? Thanks for posting this!
Only 12 instruments waiting to be repaired? What are you going to do in your spare time? ;) I liked your "subliminal message". I know someone in the US that does some hunting. I've just sent him a message to find out if he might find himself having access to deer antler.
Sounds like you've got a problem like someone I know has. Her retired, thinking he'd have free time. He said he was busier after he retired than he was when he was working. I made a joke about getting a job to get a break. He had to think about it.
Wow!!!! How did I missed this episode??? I NEVER miss a Jerry video!
Hi Jerry tried to watch all the vid but in the hospital after a major surgery for the benefit of my health just recooperating finish one day soon looking good so far !
you make that look so daw gone easy!! but we all know it isn't. great video, Jer.
Two eggs over easy . . . well, you make it look easy, Jerry. And they do look scrumptious enough to eat.
i really like work, i could watch it all day.
Hey Jerry! Next time try building 2 mandos a guitar and a fiddle all at the same time... "You Can Do It!" A Master at work... Well Done!
Looking good Jerry! I almost missed the subliminal message. It was so subtle.

Jerry, Thanks for another great video in this fascinating series. Somehow I feel a strange urge to go out and look for sheds(antlers).
I bet that it is very satisfying to do that. I use to make model air planes it was fun. But this is lot harder I would imagine to do. I will just watch you.
Jerry, you make it look easy.

Master full as usual very educational and rewarding viewing
No antlers here but great job and standing by for the next installment! Thx Jerry
Nice going...you sure make it look simple to do...Keep up the good work and keep the videos a coming...
Mass production. Two per day. Pretty soon two hundred per day. Is the world ready for that many Rosa mandolins? I say yes.
I wish I could do two per day. It's really closer to 2 per 3 months.
Love your work. I'll see if I can come up with a couple to send you.
I absolutely love these videos!! Thanks Jerry. 🎶👈
Hey Jerry it's been awhile great video my friend be looking forward to your next one have a great night take care buddy

Beautiful wood
Another excellent learning adventure. I have plans to do some bending this summer and you are definitely motivating me.
Everything is looking good, can't wait for the next video!
Not subliminal on my part, I wish I could help you with the antler needs.
Good luck & you have way more patience than I ever developed.
It's coming along, looking forward to the next part
A great video, despite the technical problems.
Jerry I will be sending you one half of a set of dear antlers. I need the other side for making heel plates for my guitars.
Awesome thank you.
Looking great
I saw the message! :-) Clicked "like" and crushed a troll. Good stuff. Thanks, Jerry.
I didn't know you were allowed to have spare time!
I’ve looked but not been able to find a video about the fixtures and other shop setup details you use in your scratch builds?
And here I was thinking the subliminal message was all the Guitar cases in the background. :)
Fantastic work again! Jerry!
Love your videos, always learn something.
Fantastic work
I didn't see the subliminal message but I have a strange urge to go out and look for some Deer antler 👍🏻
Peace and Love Jerry you are a magician with wood 👍🏻☮❤
Thank you. Hope you don't find yourself wandering aimlessly out in the woods. LOL

Good observation. It came out of a bed rail.

Great job, (Red)
For some reason I was on Craigslist looking for antlers, no idea why... Also, no luck here.
So, does you wife say, "Enough. Where are my new cabinet doors? Where's my new countertop?" I imagine your honey do list is quite long and deep?
You have no idea. She's on my case all the time.
Do not stick your fingers on any blade! 😀👏👏🎉👏

Proud, (You said pick a word 😉)

this is weird, I have an inexplicable urge to go deer hunting.
I saw the message but I discovered another one too... BUY A ROSA MANDOLIN! am I right or wrong?
I only saw the one but I tend to skip some parts of these videos when I'm seeing parts of a build or repair that I've seen several times before.
Jerry, I enjoy your videos but the word across ends with an "s" not a "t".
Other people have the English Channel this is the instrument Channel
Lol
