Sexy factor aside, what a well built bike and attention to detail from Sherco. They've kept their enduro platform simple, but continued to refine the little things that subtly make a huge difference that many wouldn't recognize. Frame geometry, motor placement, refined electronic powervalve, and overall ergonomics make you feel so planted. Thank you Inside Enduro for helping put these French Lamborghini's on the map here in the 🇺🇸!
@@maucina12is that all ya got? Get at me with real concerns brah, seriously. I love KTM, owned KTM, and probably will own another someday, however, Sherco- REFINED bro, I didn't studder. No other brand spent the time, effort and money on the EPV like Sherco, still using the 36mm Kehien with the tunable ECU. Plus KTM had years of failure which all good brands have and will continue to have when pushing r&d.
@@DavidJones-mj5ju i had sherco ser 300 2018 for 500 hours so i have a lot more problems than you think. cylinder base gasket gets blown out if you ride harder. happened to me 2 times and also to two friends. We had to make custom gaskets from another brand to stop this from happening. From 5 shercos in our area all had cracked subframes and had to weld it at some point. 2018 model had extremely bad clutch plates, replaced multiple sets(2021 have new plates so probably it is solved). overall quality is bad. rear brake pedal sticks out too much and breaks easily, gear lever weak and breaks much easier then ktm, friend had broken gearbox 2 times... ok, they are not that bad but definetly are not as good as people think they are. but yes carb, vforce reeds, fmf exhaust are nice.
@@maucina12 ya but these aren't deal-breakers dude. Much like KTM and having starter issues with the earlier 2t models, or TPI tuning issues that cost much more outa the box, and Beta continuing to have issues with failed bottom end bearings. They all have issues but quality brands will stand behind their products and further navigate these issues. I can't count how many pedals and shift levers on my KTM I replaced and if it was an issue I'd be a knitpicker. I had multiple buddies repeatedly with bendix and starter issues on Pre2017 models and KTM fixed it. In fact, I used to make fun of the fact they always kicked their new KTM'S despite having E-start. I don't hold this against KTM and I certainly won't hold subframe issues or clutch plate issues against Sherco. As far as the base gasket issues or even the subframe I'm sure Sherco has already heard about it and will make the necessary provisions if not already on the 21's. Merry Xmas!
Where I live these bikes are the same price but a lot more technology is in the tpi. Yes the KYB suspension is great and Sherco have it set very well but for me I'd need to re-valve either bike for my weight anyway. With the Sherco you save a bit by not needing to add a fan but I'd be spending money on a Smartcarb 2 for it right away. Yes jetting is simple but if you ride big elevation changes the tpi is a huge advantage. As far as tpi being down on power, lol. Not many people I know can use all the power any 300 two stroke has. The idle, add the idle screw for $25 (or make one for $5) if you feel you need it. You are wrong on the fuel mileage, my tpi with a 8.5L tank will go 100+ Km, I'd like to see how far the Sherco would get on a tank. And KTM made the tank smaller to make room for the oil tank not because "they thought it did not need a larger tank". I would consider a Sherco for my next ride but not based on a "sexy rating".
you will not get close to KYB with any Xplor revalve unless you buy complete close chamber cartridges(1500plus), ask Cody Webb why keihin is better than smart carb and yes Sherco will use bit more fuel, my 2018 250 Ser takes same as tpi tho...3hrs CrossCountry race with 1 tank.
@@madMX96 KYB is hard to beat for sure, probably the best suspension you can get on a bike off the showroom floor and Sherco has the valving set up pretty good already. I would still need to spend money to get it re-sprung for my weight though. I've tested Keihin, Mikuni, Lectron, and Smart Carb and I feel like the SC is the best. Cody may have a different opinion and that's fine but the Keihin cant self-adjust for elevation like a Lectron or SC can. Most enduro bikes will do a 3hr race on one tank but if you are doing 7-8 hour rides in the mountains 100+ kilometers going from 2000-8000' a SC will out perform any traditional carb. I've done a few of these rides where one tank was enough on a SC equipped bike while bikes with stock carbs packed extra fuel and needed all of it to get home.
@@PNWEnduro therefore we have tests so everyone can choose whats best for them. If Sherco keep selling bike like they do, soon we will see injected 2stroke from them for sure... here in UK we ride 0-1000feet and not much difference in temperature so i can race same jetting all season (i do not race in winter)
@@madMX96 Yes the Sherco's are in high demand here in Canada as well, most of them are pre-sold before they even get to the dealers. Sherco and Beta both already have fuel injected two strokes ready to produce, they are just waiting until they are forced to phase out the carb bikes in Europe before they release them.
The TPI system is tunable, not sure why you say it's not. I just purchased the TSP kit, which is the same price as a Lectron/smart carb(Which alot of Carb guys install). Allowing me to have a different fueling and oil ratio among others fueling improvements, a redesigned head, and idle screw. Dont get me wrong I seriously considered Sherco, but the lack of dealers and parts availability brought me to KTM.
I rode both, the ktm is a whole better in every aspect. TPI fuel injection is years ahead of the Sherco carb. Ergonomics is way better on ktm. Engine is so much smoother on ktm, sherco still vibrates like crazy.
@@timm1807 I rode one less than two months ago, a 2020 Sherco ! Don’t believe me? Look at my video on my channel labeled “fun easy day riding the dirtbikes on Carnegie trails KTM erzbergrodeo beta 300 sherco “ ... Smack! You just smacked right on the face! Haha
@@timm1807 I've never owned a scherco, and yes KTM is my current bike, also have a husaberg. The Sherco just seemed like an outdated technology as far as engine and carb, I didn't care much about the geometry and suspension either.
Also don't get me wrong, I have the thought about TPI pump failure etc in the back of my mind. But when I stop thinking about that and just ride it..I'm like damn this thing is Good! Runs so clean and puts the power to the ground so well. I think the TPI puts better power to the ground than my 19 300 carby did. With that being said I wanted a little more hit up top, hence the TSP kit. The suspension in 2021 in my honest opinion is very close to KYB, just doesn't eliminate the very small stuff the way KYB does. All in all buy what you want and ride it. They are all good bikes, and will out perform 95% of riders.
Man, my 2022 sherco 300se factory blows my 22 Husky TX300i out of the water for power to the ground. It isn't even a comparison. I love my Husky, but the sherco is leaps and bounds better in my opinion. And FAR thinner. The tank rides super high on the neck, the ktm sits way down on the frame. I'm selling the TX bc the sherco is just so more controlled and torqey
@cyclemoto8744 oh yea. As a matter of fact, my buddy sold his 2022 Te300 and bought the 23 Sherco 300se factory after spending a weekend on mine. The balance and power delivery alone are on another level. I'm no biased. I didn't engineer these bikes. I owned both. I will say the Husky has better top end. But top end wasn't important to me. I don't ride MX or SX tracks often. Sherco still has decent too end, it's just not as good. Dies off faster.
After owning many KTMs and Yamaha’s over the years mainly 2strokes I’ve found all manufacturers build quality bikes these days. That said I pulled the trigger on a 300 sherco factory since they seemed to be durable with their hard enduro races Roman and Young etc But the biggest factor in change for me is the price of a KTM as opposed to any other brand A standard KTM here in oz is dearer than a factory Sherco by a fair margin! Just my 2 cents worth
@Jason Toff hey man, what are your thoughts on the Sherco so far? i'l hopefully be moving to Aus before christmas this year, back to the sunshine coast. do you know of any Sherco dealers near by?
@@danhopkinson2811 my first Sherco was a 2019 factory model which I updated this year to a 2022 factory model and I’m happy to say it’s better than the 19 mod which is saying a lot. @@jasontoff4991 hey mate, appreciate the response aye! what would you say they've improved on over the 2019 model? i much prefer the colours on the 19 with the white and blue combo. but its the build quality and what you get for your money thats important. i've been told theres a dealer in Maroochydore which is 10 mins from where i'l be living, but heard some bad things about them. or theres a sherco dealer in Toowoomba about 3 hours away so thats probably where i'l go 😀🤙
With regards to the idle you can do a simple idle screw mod which enables you to adjust the butterfly in the throttle body. Fuel comsumption as mentioned is about 30 % less than a carbed 300, i know because i have owned both.
KTM haven't made quality bikes for years. I used to own a KTM 300 and it was great. Now they are put together like shit. KTM owners cannot handle that TPI was only brought in for emission reduction. They are still thinking its to make the bike run better.and its the "FUTURE" One simple thing to understand. TPI EMITS LESS EMISSIONS BY USING LESS OIL MEANING IT RUNS LEANER AND HOTTER. WHICH EQUALS MORE WEAR AND MORE THINGS THAT CAN GO WRONG.
the oil is delivered differently and where its most needed meaning it can actually prolong the life of the engine! Most people with a TPI say it DOES run better than their old carb versions... I have just done my top end at 240 hours and the piston looked perfect and the cylinder looked brand new! You clearly dont know what you're talking about.
@@ashleycattermole87 "the oil runs where it needs to"?????? So it doesnt do that with a non tpi?????? You are another sheep who prob bought a tpi thinking its superior
@@timm1807 no mate you clearly don’t have one, you know very little about them but you are slating them based on either something you’ve heard or something you’ve read online.... I have one and it’s fucking awesome. I’m in two tpi owners groups on Facebook with thousands of other owners and 99% them love the bikes and would never go back to carbs... Yes the tpis deliver the oil differently meaning they don’t need to use as much! The fact that people are putting 250+ hours on a piston is proof that it works just fine! I get better mpg on my tpi, it has more linear controlled power, I don’t have to mix oil when in filling up at a fuel station, I don’t have to fuck with jetting when I change altitude... it’s just better! When you can scrape some money together to buy one and see for yourself maybe then you’ll stop spouting shit you don’t understand online 👍 moron
Love my 21 Sherco 300 SE Factory. The low down torque is amazing, jetting has been a chore, and took me well past 20hrs to get right, but sorted now (The supplied jetting table is a waste of print media) I am one rare (mechanic) owner that is hanging out for Sherco's fuel injection system. 👍 Have ridden several TPI bikes on various rides, none of them have blown my hair back. 8:55 You should say that the TPI system is not 'user tunable'. Lots of tuning shops are now able to tune these ecus and get them riding how they should. 14:00 I wish we could get access to the dealer box and software in Australia 😏 Hopefully someone will come up with a generic link tool
Glad to finally hear someone else that's hanging out for sherco's FI 2 stroke im really hoping they don't wait until 2024 i have my fingers crossed that they atleast make it optional for either FI or carb for 2022 or 2023.
@@RDHZRD I guess we'll see, they have stated publicly that they were going to hang out until the Euro 5 changes in '24.... And they picked up an awful lot of new people just because they stayed with the carb as well. For me, as a 4 stroke guy and a mechanic, I've already had long exposure to EFI and (big and) if it is done properly - Yes, we're looking at YOU KTM, it brings many benifts. A proper efi system, one that uses all the sensors to account for rpm increases and altitude changes will be great. I'm enjoying the 2 stroke for its low down torque, I don't enjoy wondering if it will start cold, or when it stalls down a steep gulley due to the float level change, relative to the jets. That's if I'm being picky. The bike is flat out awesome in almost every way 🙂👌
Hi guys. It's all someone's own opinion, ya know? I personally have a 21 husky 300 te and do not have a problem with the so-called lack of bottom end. IMO bikes with a lot of bottom end tend to lighten the steering in corners and people think that they don't turn well but actually what is happening is the strong bottom end is lifting the front end.
@@rtimetoride7645 No issues with turning on my bike, that extra bottom end torque right off idle is invaluable for Hard Enduro and help prevent stalling and find traction.
TPI runs hard. Put the power down much beter than a Carb. Put the two bikes in a race and differents is unbelievable. I ride a 2018 KTM 300 TPI and Carbs cannot keep up with.
There is a very easy way to siphon fuel from a fuel tank. Take a damp rap, a hose. Stick hose down into the fuel tank, wrap the damp rag around the hose & make sure both are sealed tight to the hose & tank opening. Blow into the hose. Keep blowing several times close off the end of the hose. This will prevent you from drinking fuel. Put hose end in other empty fuel tank or can & unblock the hose. The fuel will flow until you pull the hose out of the fuel tank that your are siphoning from.
I’ve done it in fuel tanks as large as a car. That took sometime but it worked. Remember if air leaks the fuel won’t flow because of no built up air pressure. The rag does not need to be damp, it just seals better when damp. Try it it will save you from being a lethal walking mouth bomb. LoL.
Just ran across the video while looking into GasGas EC300. I am in PNW and looking to race/ride offroad in summer and then bolt on a Timberland snow kit in winter. (I have done this in past with two Husky 450's). Do you know if Timbersled makes a bolt on sled for the Sherco....been trying to figure that out the last few minutes here. I have to get a bike that will be able to do both seasons. Btw....Where are ya'll located?
I got the 2021 300 Sherco b/c it has a carb! I want that control over my fuel. I have a specific way i want the power at certain throttle positions. Cant do that on TPI. Drop a STIC metering block in and your elevation change worries are over. Carb just feels better to me than TPI.
@Clive Nielands it would be a fairer comparison spec wise. How ever here in Australia the bog standard exc is $2380 more than the factory Sherco. And the six days or erzberg editions are closer to $4,500-5,000 more. So its definitely a fair comparison in this video.
Great review, here in the AUS to get a Sherco factory we are paying pretty much the same $ as a KTM... and we still have to mix fuel and oil, I mean come on !!, not even oil injected !! for those $$ sorry, but I don't care how good it looks
lol, my sherco 250 stock KYB's are still better than the modded KTM's I have (with Kreft and RaceTech suspensions). Plus, Sherco comes with V-Force reeds, 36mm Keihin carb, Gnarly pipe and a fan.
Honestly maybe a better comparison would be to the Husky TE, has all the goodies the Sherco has other than the fan. I was on the fence between Sherco and Husky but went Husky due to the TPI and can say well worth it for me. Race Harescrambles and Enduros and seems to be super easy to ride at race pace. I will say, your correct that some TPIs are just different. Mine seems to be on point with zero issues this season with only adjustment being the Power Valve spring adjustment. But, other riders I know seem to say theirs is lethargic compared to mine. So, has to be something to that. In closing, I like that Sherco has stepped up their game and will only force KTM and Husky to step up too. Competition is good and key to innovation for all manufacturers.
I really want the Sherco but there is only one dealer 2hours away and it seems like Sherco is pretty proprietary with their parts. I live in a rural area and being able to have things shipped right to my door step would be nice. Is there any online sources for stuff, spark arrestors, plastics, graphics, sprockets etc.? I have been trying to do my research but haven't found much other than maybe AOMCmx. Any help would be great. Thank you.
Thanks for the review Sherco Stearns! Looks like you got people's attention. I might have to check out a Sherco in the coming years...looks like a great platform!
Have you watched Jeff slavens videos on jow to fix the tpi idle problems. He explains the air bleed screw and how to add a true butterfly adjustment screw. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this.

So, the KTM 300. If you invest in a new ECU will that improve the performance issues you speak of? I know my 2018 500excf came all plugged up for road legal use. I invested in a GET ecu and now it runs amazingly well (not that it ran bad before). You make the 2021 KTM 300 sound like it runs so bad it’s not worth buying. So, does it get better with a new ECU or is it just all around bad bad bad?

after riding Kawasaki for years and moving to a 19 TPI last year i've not been very impressed. It's a lot better with the red power valve spring in, that brought it to life a lot. I like the way the bike rides and feels. HOWEVER the bike let me down on sunday in the middle of a timecard enduro at the best venue i've ever ridden. not sure what the issue is but i've noticed a spark arcing from the throttle position sensor to the choke lever. The bike will not start at all. the TP sensor is £225 to replace and may not be the issue. i've spoke to 2 KTM dealers to see if they can plug it in to diagnostics on of which i was driving past today an hour from home, they asked if i bought the bike from them and when i said no any help they may have offered suddenly became a 4-5 week wait. i went in that dealer today for a starter relay £50 to see if that cured the issue and had some stern words with them about issues with the tpi's and build quality and was told "competition bikes" only have a 30 day warranty. not a ride time warranty, 30 days, so you might buy a bike and by the time you get to ride it your warranty may already be over. i've had issues with the crank case pressure sensor like most people they're £100 each to replace, and i've found theres always corrosion, chaffing and snapping of connectors in the wiring loom. i've lost 2 side stand return springs and the little piece they hook on to. all of the bolts and fixings are rusty, i've had front/ rear wheel and headset bearings go recently and was told by the shop ktm use smaller weaker bearings that other brands. and the original light and kill switch melted and burnt out. as much as i like riding the bike i feel like every time i ride it theres something else i need to fix, weather it be something thats broken or something causing it not to run correctly. it costs me a fortune in upkeep, the parts are seriously expensive, KTM main dealers are never interested in helping and i don't think i'l buy another one when i move to Australia
Rats! Chatted with the shop guys and none of us know why there would be an ark from the tps to choke lever. I would go through grounds and make sure connections are tight and clean. Be sure to update us when you get it fixed! Good Luck
@@InsideEnduro thanks so much for getting back to me. even that response is more help than i got from the KTM dealer i spoke to and then visited. that's the only thing i can think of , that there's damage to the loom somewhere and it's causing the whole bike to be live. it's a shame i can't share the video of how it was running when i saw the spark (before it died completely) but absolutely, i'l let you know when the mechanic figures it. out as it might help you diagnose something in the future :) you know what the solution is though.... buy a Sherco. i'm asking around at the moment to see what Sherco availability is like in Australia as i should be moving there before christmas. Thanks
@Inside Enduro, i’ve sent you guys a message on instagram with some videos of the bike running poorly. It might be something you’ve seen before. Thanks, Dan
Tough one for me i like carbs and have no problems jetting them, however on any give 100 mile ride hear in the mountains of Northern California we will change elevation of 2500 plus feet a couple times per ride so we always end up some what compromised within middle-of-the-road jetting. Than there is the shock linkage. I really like not having it the ktm suspension once sprung and valved works well. Tough choice.
Re the complaints of comparing a base level KTM to the factory Sherco. I think it is a fair comparison, they cost the same and imo a six days or erzberg is mostly more bling rather than performance upgrades, no upgraded suspension or anything else to justify the price increase. Still, a Sherco dealer doing a comparison like this is going to be biased.
That sherco looks awesome. Definitely a good package but I prefer ktm tpi. Most of your points were pretty valid but when you were talking about the fuel consumption of a ktm tpi, I highly disagreed. That is pure bullshit. Fuel consumption of a ktm tpu is amazing and uncomparable to sherco. Secondly, this review was steered towards the sherco yet you didn't mention anything about parts compatibility and parts availability. There is no other bike that has better parts availability than a ktm
@Andrej Skamla parts availability of the Sherco depends. If you want genuine parts for servicing, repairs or replacement its not too bad. Mostly available directly through Sherco themselves or a dealer. But in terms of aftermarket parts, upgraded bits, graphics ect its slim pickings out there. Most companies haven’t caught up and started making bits for the Sherco’s and a lot of websites where you select your bike make to find parts Sherco isn’t even listed
I Have a 2018 KTM TPI. The guy mentioned that the HP is not as much on TPI and you cannot get more performance out of it. Bit of a shitty statement. A buddy of mine has a 2018 Carb with less hours then my TPI. The TPI kills it from top end and in a rolling race. Just no match. I Weigh at least 35kg more then him. Maybe less HP but definitely better power delivery.
How many distributors has Sherco had in the US that last 2 years? How many stocking dealers? Now owned by some guy in TX no one has heard of. The bikes are not the issue.
The engine is only part of the puzzle. Would be interesting to hear more about the ergonomic differences, especially things you can't easy change/tune - like turning radius, seat height, ground clearance...etc.
@Dmitriy Adv seat height is lower than the ktm, as is ground clearance. I test rode a 2023 SE300 a few weeks back but wasn't given much time on it by the dealer. without changing bars and suspension settings it's hard to say if I liked it. i'm 6ft and bone stock I felt the bars were low for me and the pegs high giving a bit of a cramped feel. the forks were stiff set as they were, but I didn't get chance to soften them up on the clickers. definitely felt very different to the WP i'm used to with the EXC. the 300 2T motor was impressive. very responsive and had loads of bottom end. I found the clutch pull noticeably heavier than the KTM and the bike stalled a lot as if the clutch was dragging. I thought the overall quality and feel of the bike was cheap compared to the other brands with a real plasticy feel to parts and the side stand looks like it would snap if you looked at it. However, I am talking about the factory 2023 model, the 21 on show in the video actually looks much better as the 23 comes in a dull dark blue and black colour scheme with a black seat and glossier cheap looking plastics. I am however still considering buying a Sherco here in Australia because the factory model comes with a fan, billet clamps, axp bash plate, mapping switch and fmf pipe stock for $15,500aud. while the bone stock EXC costs $17,880aud with none of those things. I'd be paying 2380bucks more for the ktm and then have another 1000 or so to spend on it to get basic things every enduro bike should have. Having owned a ktm I know parts are extortionate compared with other brands, ktm customer service is an absolute joke, and their 30 day warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on.
@@danhopkinson2811 I appreciate the details! I’m in the US - Sherco and KTM are priced pretty similarly here, but KTM has a much better/easier resale, making it a better choice from a financial standpoint. Parts for KTMs are a bit more expensive, but you can buy them everywhere. I think there are a lot of great choices nowadays, so just choose what works better for you. The KTM/Husky/GasGas enduro bikes (spring forks) work great for me out of the box when it comes to feel and ergonomics. I usually have to tinker with the suspensions, but am very happy with the stock Xplor and don’t even need to mess with the clickers much. At 5’11” and 175lbs, I feel like the bikes are made for me
@@DmitriyAdv oh wow I didn't know prices varied like that. It's incredibly annoying that you pay top whack here for a KTM but get such a low spec for that compared with other brands. even the Reiju I looked at the other day comes with KYB, Xtrig anodised clamps, talon wheels with anodised hubs, e start AND kick start and an FMF pipe for a few thousand dollars less than the KTM. I agree though, KTM will have better resale value, and before committing to buying something i'm checking parts supply ect. seems easy enough to get parts for Sherco here in Aus, however there's a serious lack of aftermarket parts available. even getting graphics made seems tricky. while companies offer probably 50-60 customisable designs for other brands they've got about 3 for Sherco.
@@danhopkinson2811 the Rieju is a great deal and comes with a lot of bling while still being cheaper than all the other bikes. I had a 2018 GasGas 300 (same as the current Rieju MR) and it was a good bike. Felt a bit heavy and old school compared to my current Husky, but for the price it's a great deal, especially for a bigger person. In terms of MSRP, the Sherco is the most expensive 300 in the US (see list below). They positioned themselves as a boutique brand here, and are priced accordingly. Price is of course just part of the equation. If one bike works better for you than another out of the box, than a few hundred dollars is not a big deal, as it's easy to spend that much on a suspension revalve alone. US MSRPs: KTM 300 XCW - 11,099 Husqvarna TE300 - 11,199 GasGas EC300 - 10,399 Beta 300 RR-Race - 10,399 Beta 330 RR - 9,899 Sherco 300 Factory - 11,849 Rieju MR - 9,499 Rieju MR Pro - 10,499
@Dmitriy Adv I’ve heard great things about the Reiju. And they were good when they were gasgas before ktm bought them. In terms of cost difference, if it was just a few hundred bucks i’d probably go with another KTM as it would be familiar, but its not a few hundred here. Its a full $2,380 dollars difference! Which is crazy. Then to put some parts on to get a similar spec to the Sherco i’d have to throw another $1500-2000 dollars at the ktm on top. So it would make the pice difference more like 3880-4380
I will say. I do appreciate the comparison, and that Sherco is pretty darn slick. Those are some nice bits on it. But the second I saw all those Shercos in the background, the writing was on the wall. Maybe hide or move the bikes in the background before doing a comparison vid in the future. Seeing that it was done in a Sherco dealer does throw some of the legitimacy out the window. As soon as I saw those, I knew which way the video was going to go. Not bashing the page or your video, just giving some feedback as a new viewer to the page.
The guy is a clown, both of these bikes are great. I prefer the lighter KTM with a little less vibration. I however prefer the clutch on a Sherco. To the people complaining about mixing their own gas. Pour oil into a retard proof ratio rite cup, poor it into an empty gas container. Go put gas in it.. mixes itself sitting in the back of the truck.. just remember also that oil injection pump goes bad you’re seized
My nearest Sherco dealer is 263 miles away. I have 3 KTM dealers within 50 miles. One is 7 miles. $10,000 is a lot of money to spend. With no dealer support. Sexy graphics or not 😃
You're comparing a stock bike against a factory edition. You should be comparing the KTM Erzberg with the Sherco Factory. Regarding the TPI - You can change the idle and adjusting it does not make it fail in the mid range. You can also adjust the air bypass screw to assist with tuning the air/fuel mixture. You can get a lot more horse power out of them by having them tuned and performance heads are also available. A lot of what you're saying about the TPI is not correct. It seems as though you're not very clued up on these bikes.
I owned a 2020 300 tpi and was overrated electrics went all to pot fan stopped working etc, doing the extreme going through a lot of water the starting motors are useless after a few months,a kick start kit is a must,I will be going carb for me next bike the fuel wasn’t great on tpi and the only positive was it doesn’t lose any when u fall off and u don’t have to mix fuel
I’ve been watching you and the irc tyre guy and I think the sherco se300 factory for myself and the 125 for my son,i also had beta 300rr 2020 and electrics where bad on that the clocks stop working after a few washes, water gets in the diodes,I like that the fan runs of stator on the sherco and not the battery, the only thing that puts me off is losing fuel when you come off,
hi there, with my poor english i have to sat few words........fancy sexy look DONT make you faster, secont ktm riders is in every mountain and if you hace fall down and you need a spare part is easy cause everyone have ktm parts in packpack.....for sherco where???only dealer.......
I think that Noah had a carby fitted to the ark, the sherco is a good bike but fuel injection please. My question to all 2t manufacturers is wtf why is this taking soooo long
@@rafy600 6days is cheaper than Erzberg edition, but still expensive, but more of an apples for apples comparison, eg, cnc Tc, fan, and like the EGB edition rest is mainly bling.. Sherco do a base Race edition which is more inline with stock or base KTMs, Sherco Factory edition gets KYB suspension as the big difference.
resalle value of ktm is much better then sherco so overall you lose a lot more money with sherco. also sixdays should be comparable to sherco factory. erzberg edition is only a limited release.
I almost think this dude is paid by sherco. The amount of things blatantly incorrect being said is crazy. The sherco is heavier. They use all these bling parts like VForce reeds and fmf exhaust because they don't have the R&D to make their own. The tpi idle screw IS an air mixture screw. You can install an idle screw for like $5 in parts, literally, them tune the air screw and idle seperate. That's cheaper than a black of jets. Yes, KYB suspension is great. But the new WP stuff is also excellent. Comparing a Factory edition to standard XC-W then talking about the lack of bling. Then, tpi mom efficient and down on power?? Say what?? I get 60 to 70 miles on my 2.2 gallon tank. I can easily go through a 2-hour GNCC hair scramble without an issue. Not that there's anything wrong with carbs but hating on the TPI is also kind of nonsense
I ride a 2021 KTM 300 and didn't care for the Sherco. To each us own. One thing Everyone should Know is: KTM doesn't give away dealerships Ever. Sherco does.
You are comparing a factory addition to a box stock bike. Compare apples to apples not apples to oranges. Compare that Sherco factory edition to the Kailub Russell factory edition plus that makes them closer in retail price. They’re both fabulous motorcycles. I have been racing and riding Ktm’s since the mid-80s. Back when nobody wanted to ride a Ktm. Ktm’s have always been a phenomenal motorcycle.
Friends had 3tpifrom new bought a sherco bit of jetting n its better than a tpi everywhere iv rode both 2 kyb is streets ahead of that shit explo48 try one if u get chance its streets ahead.
Why compare a factory sherco with a standard ktm and not with a 6 days ? Also in Australia the sherco se-r does not come with a skid plate or a radiator fan . The sherco Oem Tyres suck 👎 And if your going to do a genuine comparison video try not being biased straight from the start lol plus for the tpi you can tune them and change the idle via a simple mod , my tpi also has double the fuel Mileage. 30 hours in my tpi no issues my mates sherco multiple issues and needed rejetting straight away ...
Few things has me hesitant about the Sherco. Reports about slightly brittle plastic, weak clutch, no kick starter, electronic power valve, parts availability shipping and wait time, limited accessories.
The Sherco is very sexy indeed, but is it counterbalanced? 300 buzzz, buzz just ain’t so sexy as one ages. I sold my Beta 300rr because of the vibrations transmitted throughout the bike. Long rides were just to much nowadays. Otherwise, Italian bikes rip!
I prefer the Sherco too.... Buttttttttt...... You're comparing the factory edition to a base KTM. You're paying EXTRA for the factory edition. So this is very misleading to folks who don't know. The correct comparison would be to the KTM 6 days version as you get plenty of extra goodies with it like the Factory edition Sherco. Regardless. Still a bunch of good info here.
First you compare bling from sherco factory to regualar ktm. Take six days ktm for real comparison. Second resalle value of sherco is very bad so you lose a lot of money if buying it new (second hand it is a great buy as you can get them very cheap). i had 2t sherco 2018 for 500 hours. Not bad bike at all but overall quality does not match ktm. Also it is quite a bit heavier than ktm tpi, and ktm is much smoother overall. I liked my sherco but ktm is still overall better bike.
If you have the money you can tune the KTMs, eg Get or Vortex ECU, 1000 bucks, etc etc, KtM race team can make em work and others have kits available as well, again for the money a KTM / Husky, soon to be Gas/Gas, costs you shouldn’t need to spend that level of mods to get it to perform at ready to race level. Sherco, Beta, for my money. you can get better tuning out of both of them upgrade with a Stic M rod my fav, or go Lectron or Smart Carb 2 and not worry about jets and elevation issues. But you can’t argue with KTMs success in racing like WESS and other forms of racing so performance is there if you have the wallet for it. Re sexy! the KTM 6 days is a better comparison to the Factory edition Sherco, if you did the Sherco Race ( base edition ) to the base KTM then other than dollar value it’s not near as sexy as the Factory edition not close, it’s still way cheaper than a base KTM and you even have the same suspension brand, different. valving etc, no PDS for those about to roast me, but that’s a true comparison.
It's hard to argue with KTM success for sure! We love the tunability on the Shercos though. We are about to do a video comparing our 6 days with the Sherco so stay tuned!
That sherco sure does look nice, but it’s a pretty unfair comparison, it should of been compared to a ktm 6 days edition, which far better looking that the standard version and have a lot of extras on them just like the sherco factory edition, so being honest about his is a very one sided and likely biased comparison.....
Sexy..! like I always say "It don't matter if you're broke & starving ...as long as you look GOOD." 😎 Its almost time for me to upgrade to a serious off-road\enduro machine.....I'm steering toward Beta or Sherco for all the reasons you you bring up here.
Lol, "this information is valuable". The updated ECU, how new is that? Do they have a change-log on the sherco site? I'm just wondering if I should bother.
We have only updated the ECU on the 2021 Shercos. They have updated maps available for download but we have yet to go further in depth! If we do, we'll be sure to let you know!
@@InsideEnduro After riding this bike in the desert, I wish I had supercross mapping in one of the positions. Lemme know If i can add the cross country mapping to it. I haven't booted up windows in years, but I should prpbably probe around in that software.
Thank you David! Shercos are definitely up and coming, they are making big moves!
not as refined as you think. rear subframes get cracked all the time just from riding. Much heavier than ktm, overall quality is much worse than ktm
Only the Factory Edition bikes come with KYB, the standard SE models have the same suspension as KTM W models.
Good enough reason for you to get your ktm
I rode both, the ktm is a whole better in every aspect. TPI fuel injection is years ahead of the Sherco carb. Ergonomics is way better on ktm. Engine is so much smoother on ktm, sherco still vibrates like crazy.

Well said! They all have a HIGH FUN FACTOR 🔥✊🏼!
@@thomasknapp7236 I'm on the fence and can't decide between Sherco or Husky. Are you still happy with the Sherco? Cheers from OZ
That said I pulled the trigger on a 300 sherco factory since they seemed to be durable with their hard enduro races Roman and Young etc
But the biggest factor in change for me is the price of a KTM as opposed to any other brand
A standard KTM here in oz is dearer than a factory Sherco by a fair margin! Just my 2 cents worth
Badass! They are all sick bikes for sure but we're stoked to hear you pulled the trigger on a Sherco. How are you liking it!?

How is the 2021 TM en300i on the 'sexy scale'?
Have not seen one in person, definitely need to give it a 👀 look. 👍🏻
Super sexy!!!!
Now you're talking...

Should compare the factory with the six days !!!!!!!
We wish we had a six days in the shop to use as a comparison. The standard KTM 300 had to do
Why? 6 days suspension still sucks...
What extras does the six days have over the standard KTM? F all from i can see
yeah the quick release on the front wheel will for sure make it a better bike
Love my 21 Sherco 300 SE Factory.
The low down torque is amazing, jetting has been a chore, and took me well past 20hrs to get right, but sorted now (The supplied jetting table is a waste of print media)
I am one rare (mechanic) owner that is hanging out for Sherco's fuel injection system. 👍
Have ridden several TPI bikes on various rides, none of them have blown my hair back.
8:55 You should say that the TPI system is not 'user tunable'.
Lots of tuning shops are now able to tune these ecus and get them riding how they should.
14:00 I wish we could get access to the dealer box and software in Australia 😏
Hopefully someone will come up with a generic link tool
Glad to finally hear someone else that's hanging out for sherco's FI 2 stroke im really hoping they don't wait until 2024 i have my fingers crossed that they atleast make it optional for either FI or carb for 2022 or 2023.
@@RDHZRD
I guess we'll see, they have stated publicly that they were going to hang out until the Euro 5 changes in '24....
@@rtimetoride7645
No issues with turning on my bike, that extra bottom end torque right off idle is invaluable for Hard Enduro and help prevent stalling and find traction.
TPI runs hard. Put the power down much beter than a Carb. Put the two bikes in a race and differents is unbelievable. I ride a 2018 KTM 300 TPI and Carbs cannot keep
up with.

The 21 have a counter balance shaft?
There is a very easy way to siphon fuel from a fuel tank. Take a damp rap, a hose. Stick hose down into the fuel tank, wrap the damp rag around the hose & make sure both are sealed tight to the hose & tank opening. Blow into the hose. Keep blowing several times close off the end of the hose. This will prevent you from drinking fuel. Put hose end in other empty fuel tank or can & unblock the hose. The fuel will flow until you pull the hose out of the fuel tank that your are siphoning from.
Thanks Douglas for the tip! We will keep that in mind for future siphoning extravaganzas

We made an updated video with a factory KTM
I got the 2021 300 Sherco b/c it has a carb! I want that control over my fuel. I have a specific way i want the power at certain throttle positions. Cant do that on TPI. Drop a STIC metering block in and your elevation change worries are over. Carb just feels better to me than TPI.
Dang right brother!! Preach!
You should of compared the 6days or erzberg editions to the Sherco, would be much fairer.
Good Point, Thank you🔥✊🏼!
Definitely not fair price wise... prob get the sherco for same cost as ktm

100% Agree.
We did an updated video with a more fair comparison
Do you still have the Husky? Any issues with TPI to date? Cheers from OZ

in Europe Factory sherco costs 300 less than basic ktm tpi
You need to open a shop in S. Utah or even Vegas. That's the only thing holding me back from buying a Sherco and I REALLY want one.
Brother don't worry about it. I just bought my 21 from a Dealer in Ohio Clinton county Motorsports. 2 days after the bikes are home next to my 20 👍🤙😎
Come on down to Montana and we'll get you setup! We can even try and get it delivered somewhere near you if needed.
@@InsideEnduro there in lies the problem, there are no dealers within 5 hours of me. If there was a dealer in St.George, UT or even Vegas, I'd be all over it like a fat kid on cake.
We ran a get ecu on our nearly factory ktm 300 and it helped, but we had a different problem with the get ecu. We are about to put out another video that goes further in depth! Stay tuned! Thanks for watching!
Can the ECU be re-programed on a 2020 Sherco 300 SE 2-stroke also?
It would just be cheaper and easier to buy a 2021 ECU, if it is possible. They are inexpensive.
Yes, we think so! We have only done it on the 2021s though.
You should take the 6days KTM to compare with the Sherco Factory model ... you’re totally bios... sorry !
That what I was thinking, factory verses base model 🤷🏼♂️
Pricewise they are same tho!
They are the same price! We are going to put out a video comparing he 6 days and the Sherco by the end of this week. Stay tuned and thanks for watching!

I own the 2021 Sherco 300 SE Factory and love it. I'm just a little bit disappointed about the details. Plastics are not very well adjusted. But the ride is amazing.
Always something right, just like everything - there are pluses and minuses. More aftermarket plastic to come soon, but we have seriously stress tested the plastics and nothing broken yet, just a sway in a shroud 🔥✊🏼 !
Thank you for the thorough review! I really like what I see with the Sherco. Do you have any issues with parts supply, or delays in ordering parts?
Not at all - Sherco has a huge warehouse in Texas and does a great job of stocking everything! Usually arrives within 3-5 days. We can get parts drop shipped to anyone too if you ever need anything.

after riding Kawasaki for years and moving to a 19 TPI last year i've not been very impressed.
Thanks,

I’m a fan of maintenance free hook-up free and lighter PDS too, plus the Sherco doesn’t have a kick start option
Man this is a great video, thankyou..
We appreciate it!
Awesome video my buddy is selling is Sherco 300fe 2021 and it is sick I love my new crf but I would love to have one of these
There is defiantly a place for a Sherco in todays market. If i was to buy a new bike today, it would be a Sherco.
WP stock forks on the KTM are not great sherco has KYB which is awesome, more value for money in my opinion
Great point!
@@InsideEnduro Only the Factory Edition bikes come with KYB, the standard SE models have the same suspension as KTM W models. also a "Great point!"
Appreciate your comments, wish we could live in a perfect World, but haven’t seen one yet. Cheers!🔥✊🏼
YZ250X
You clearly haven't heard of a YZ250 for parts availability.
@@urby1720 yz250 is just one old outdated bike not suitable for hard enduro (nor yz250x). Ktm has many interchangable parts in between models
Thanks for the comment! Agreed, but parts are getting easier to come by for Shercos. We can get them within a few days if you need.
Maybe less HP but definitely better power

Have you switched bikes and raced...if so were the results similar?
@@InsideEnduro Nope haven’t. Will ask my buddy if he is keen to swap bikes and do a race.
How many distributors has Sherco had in the US that last 2 years? How many stocking dealers? Now owned by some guy in TX no one has heard of. The bikes are not the issue.
We can get Sherco bikes and parts quick!
US MSRPs:
KTM 300 XCW - 11,099
Husqvarna TE300 - 11,199
GasGas EC300 - 10,399
Beta 300 RR-Race - 10,399
Beta 330 RR - 9,899
Sherco 300 Factory - 11,849
Rieju MR - 9,499
Rieju MR Pro - 10,499
@Dmitriy Adv
I’ve heard great things about the Reiju.
Thanks for the feedback. We can't hide it, we love these Shercos!

It seems as though you're not very clued up on these bikes.

resalle value of ktm is much better then sherco so overall you lose a lot more money with sherco. also sixdays should be comparable to sherco factory. erzberg edition is only a limited release.

They are all great bikes and all that matters is people are having fun. We currently don’t have a 6 days KTM to compare to the Sherco

Appreciate the updated video. Just liked and subbed cause of that. Also listened to the Keith Curtis podcast. Great stuff. Keep it up man!

Los Angeles California love Sherco the ktm killer Viva la French latinos love you sherco
That sherco sure does look nice, but it’s a pretty unfair comparison, it should of been compared to a ktm 6 days edition, which far better looking that the standard version and have a lot of extras on them just like the sherco factory edition, so being honest about his is a very one sided and likely biased comparison.....
