Fun technique to do with kids. Think I will treat my 10 yr old friend, to an afternoon of watercolor and hot chocolate. Thanks for the idea.

You bet, Lucy, this is a fun activity for us big kids too. I can’t wait to play with this technique, as it has been a long time since I have done it. Between the Gelli Plate, acrylic paints. , colored pencils, alcohol ink..., I’ve been away from my watercolor practice. Great way to,warm up and just play. Thanks, Lucy. See you with your next video. 💛 Happy Valentine’s Day.

I first learned a similar technique (crayon resist) in Elementary School, but of course you've elevated the process. Gorgeous results! Thank you Lucy!

Watercolour is my favourite technique that artists use. I love the ethereal look it gives. I don't remember doing any art in elementary school so this is new to me. I hate to say that, considering the age I am. lol I am going to try this even though I only have a child's small watercolour set. I appreciate that you reaffirmed that mistakes are a learning process as I tend to think I should be able to do it right, or not do it at all. (ah, parental voice playing in my head...) Thanks for sharing this wonderful video. I think both pictures turned out well. I particularly love the first one with the trees.

    • @LucyBrydonArt

the salt gives a cool texture where it sort of sucks up the water and leaves wee spaces !

I don’t believe you do remove the wax, unlike masking fluid. So it will be the colour of the candle or wax crayon.

its kind of like batik so I don't see why not! you'd have to heat the wax and then iron it off thats what I do with batik
