In the early 70's my dad would get mad at me for carrying a backpack everywhere I went. Books, notebook, pens, markers, sketchpad and a heavy oversized homemade walkman (real ones weren't on the market yet) with 4 hours worth of music cassettes. It seemed practical to me but it was yet another thing about me he was disgusted with me over; making him yell "You carry that thing around like a security blanket. None of the other boys your age do that- Stop being WEIRD!!" That was the extent of my diagnosis back then; and it didn't stop me; especially after I moved out. I've taken a day pack (w/ a series of cassette/CD/MP3 players as each became available) to every job I had (got fired from few due to what I now know were meltdowns...), on every bus I rode (I never drove), everywhere I went in this century or the last. I'm now in my 60's and only in the past decade is it clear to I was controlling my sensory environment out of necessity. My latest one is white with irregular black spots like a Holstein cow and I LOVE it! We find ways to survive even without the benefit of an official diagnosis. I don't know what I am neurologically but whatever I am, I'm good with it.
I think it's awesome you kept bringing it anyway instead of forcing yourself to suffer. I'm in my 30's and undiagnosed and I have gotten a lot of shit in my life too for carrying around a bag everywhere. "You're so WEIRD!" Yep, thank god because "normal" is horrifying lol
Sounds exactly like my dad. And he (and his wife( has kept bullying me for my entire life…for being who i am. All i have learned is that im obvi very hard too love…because im too weird
I honestly loved this story, it was quite touching. Definitely related to the "stop being WEIRD" bit because I'm always called weird for things I do.. However, at least I am never called normal, I think being called normal is the worst of insults, I'd rather be myself :D
Your amazing keep going I don’t really understand how carrying those things are weird it’s normal to carry stuff around these days people need to be respectful also I love your confidence
When i was at uni i had to lug a whole lot of photography equipment around (and walk it to and from uni about 30-45 minutes walk each way!) and there was too much to carry, so I started taking it all in my suitcase (with something even strapped against the handle). I think it was something the faculty hadn't seen a student do before lol
For my fellow autistics, I couldn't wait to figure out everything that Chloe had. Here's a list! •The backpack to hold them in •Noise cancelling headphones •Sensory/Fidget toys •Packet of gum •Sunglasses •Loop earplugs •Snacks •Phone charger •Sunflower Lanyard •Wallet
What's in my backpack? Anxiety and OCD edition • First Aid Kit • Pads/Tampons (of all sizes in case friends need them) • Rubber bands (for fidgeting) • Spare money • Paracetamol/Ibuprofen/Hayfever Tablets • Hand Soap (some public bathrooms don't have it) • Hand sanitiser • Spare socks • Stretchy unisex jogging bottoms (in case a friend needs them or i leak) • Essential Oils for anxiety attacks • Bunch of plasters and sterilising wipes • Adjustable clean masks in case someone needs to borrow one • Vaseline • Hair bands/bobbles • Enhalers (asthma) • Tissues • ID cards and phone numbers of friends and family in case i have a panic attack in public or I get injured and need to be taken to hospital • Earphones • Usually some sort of travel game (uno deck, playing cards, etc) • Reusable shopping bag • Pullover jacket (usually XL so that it would be able to fit anyone if needed) • Reusable cutlery • Metal straws • Suncream (if summer) • Tiny plushie (for anxiety attacks, helps with grounding, or i can hand it to a friend to fidget with if they seem anxious) • Water bottle • Hand cream • Phone charger (iphone and android) If u can't tell, I'm the group mum And my back hurts
I've been this way since I was young, I can't remember not having something for extra or not needed to have something. Also, I'm the group mum too! Luckily, I now have a man to carry my bag. 💕
@@NEONrayne I don't know, I just like to know that if I'm going to get a drink and the top of the bottle is a weird shape that feels weird to use I just like to have straws with me, it's also easier to drink from straws if i have had a panic attack or anxiety attack (both of which i get) when I'm all trembly, a friend could hold the bottle whilst I drink because cold water is a grounding technique that works for me
My bag is very similar: - multiple lip balm/oils - 2 different types of hand sanitizer (spray/gel) - these things called seat belt adjusters that hook onto your seatbelt and help position it in a more comfortable position - gum/mints/sometimes straight up candy - foldable hair brush/mirror - solar battery pack - regular battery pack - small bottles of favorite body spray - wrist bands for nausea - list of current medications tucked into wallet - 2 types of sunscreen (spray/lotion) - floss - multiple types of cables - multiple hand creams - tissue - first aid kit - pads in case someone needs it - keys - wallet - pepper spray - multiple masks - nail clippers/tools - motion sickness pills - Tylenol - notepad + pen - small scissors that fold/have a cap - earbuds - teddy bear keychain - phone - disinfectant wipes I feel the need to add a few things to my bag though like a fan, water bottle, reusable utensils, and probably some other bits and bobs. Sometimes I get the idea I need to bring a lighter because despite the fact I rarely leave my house in a populated area, you never know when I'll be stranded in the middle of no where and need to build a fire. Don't even get me started on what I bring when I travel for even a weekend.
What backpack do you have/use? It must be pretty big to hold all the stuff And also I'm the mom friend so like- I need a larger backpack than the one I currently have xD
This is what is in my backpack for autism and adhd: - chewing gum - a case for my glases - sunglasses - hair ties - period bag (with various period products, pain meds and spare undies) - a book (your girl does not leave her room without a book lol) - hand lotion - sanitiser - chapstick - masks - fidget toys - earplugs - anc headphones - water bottle - snacks (safe foods)
ive always loved what’s in my bag videos. now i realize it was because i wanted to know 1) how to make sure i didn’t have any uncomfy situations 2) so that i could imitate what other people do so that i could be more “put together” and “normal”. autism + what’s in my bag video obsessions go hand in hand
What’s in my bag ADD, anxiety and hypersensitivity version : - A drawing book - A book to write - A pencil box or at least a pencil, an eraser and a sharpener - My chargers - My noise cancelling headphones - A survival kit, so : -> lipstick -> Nail cutter -> Nail file -> Cream -> Toothbrush -> Mouthwash -> Dental floss -> Mirror -> Many types of pills -> Bandaid -> Hair ties -> Essential oil’s -> Tweezers -> Hair brush -> Tampons -> Hand sanitizer -> Soap -> Tissues -> Deodorant - Food and candys (I like to keep tender bars, mint or anise hard candy, or chocolate) - A kindle, cause it takes less space then a book - Some money in my phone case - My keys - My water bottle - A pair of socks - Mascaras, in case that I can’t stop pulling my lashes - Gum, for if I am clenching my jaw too much - A peace of silk, to calm me down I think that’s it is it.
Additional stuff from my own bag I'd recommend anyone add to theirs: a small basic first aid kit (bandaids, ibuprofen, nail clippers, a dose or two of any essential meds, etc), sunscreen, emergency period supplies for people who menstruate, foldable shopping bag (good for more than just shopping!), hand sanitizer, small notebook and pen, a favorite reusable straw, and some hand cream and lip balm. For longer trips I'll definitely throw in my Switch Lite and/or iPad. I also always have a mini bicycle pump and a small folding multi-tool with various sizes of allen wrenches and screwdrivers, which is great if I'm out on my bike and something happens to it. I am always prepared.
I could not bring this much stuff with me on the daily. I used to but recently have downsized ALOT in order to not be bogged down by unnecessary weight in my bag. Being autistic and also with ptsd the heavier my bag is the less spoons I have throughout the day so finding a balance between bringing what I may need and also not carrying around a HUGE bag is crucial for me.
I have a problem leaving without my bag, even if i know i don't need it that day, as it is my safety. The feeling of needing it and not having it will ruin anything i am trying to do and i'd need to go home. I once lost a backpack with all my things in it. Took ages to get over it and keeps me from doing it again.
@@merrymerrymead7749 see for me I love backpacks. I’ve tried a purse and other types of bag but the mini backpack seems to be what works best for me. I also find I’m actually less likely to lose a backpack when I’m out because it’s on my back and I can feel if it’s there or not as supposed to a purse that I’m likely to drop or put down somewhere and walk away from. I’ve lost soooo many purses and other bags but never a backpack so now I switch backpacks frequently as it’s kind of a stimmy balmy thing for me to switch to a new bag every so often but I never use any other style than a backpack.
I do this and I suspect I have ADHD and I have migraines. My purse got bigger and bigger and now I have just accepted it's a small tote bag. And my back hurts less. Always snacks, water bottle, meds, hairties, claw clip, bandaid kit, lip balm, belt bag (can keep my wallet on my belt, can leave the rest in the car), cough drops, dry mouth lozenges, headphones, mini hairbrush, and kindle. Gum whenever I haven't chewed through it all and planner, spare underwear, period underwear, fidget doughnut half the time. My one consistent mistake is not always ensuring a way to seal snacks and getting them spilled in the bottom way too much. I need to get another of those small stasher bags. I also have interstitial cystitis and have considered taking essentially a diaper with me when the cold makes it really hard for me to hold my bladder. Been hard for me to commit to that one, I can usually still hold it.
My bag as an neurodivergent person with POTS: - Loop earplugs (Engage and experience) - Noise canceling headphones - Water bottle filled with water mixed with electrolytes - Medication and painkillers - (salty) snack though I usually forget one - Phone - Wallet - Keys - Gloves (if it's cold)
Hi! I loved the video! Here is my what's in my bag- - Sketchbook - Pen/drawing supplies - Whatever I am hipper fixated on (sewing, crochet, etc) - Feminine products - Phone - Earphones - Portable charger - Pocket knife - Flashlight - Chapstick - Braces wax - Medicine (Advil, tums) - Wallet And this one is not going to fit in my bag but I ALWAYS have my water bottle with me. It holds 2.5 liters or 85 OZ in it.
not all types were banned. Though tbh it's not the kids fault, that schools are so boring and can't keep them engaged. If schools actually engaged kids in their natural curiosities about the world, and helped the individual. And didn't teach them like they are computers then they wouldn't have such a problem with kids "interrupting" class. And for the most part I think sensory toys/fidget have always been something that pops up as a fad once in awhile it's not the Frist time, take Tangles for instance... Because actually I think most people enjoy things like them from time to time even if that's not how they used to be viewed. Though I think there is a better understanding now about them in the public and it's a lot easier to get your hands on something marketed for adults, to help them with their Fidget/sensory needs now then it was before. But that's just my opinion... Sorry for the book lol if anyone reads this. 😅
it’s a love hate relationship. yes they get them in all these stores so they’re more easily available (like at five below, target, etc) but many times nt ppl have gotten fidget toys banned at my school n i wasn’t able to use em which was really inconvenient
I keep a weighted lap pad, gum, a backup chewerly necklace, stim toys, tea bags with hot water, water bottle, sunflower lanyard, and thats it really lol I have hard sensory needs so it can be challenging for me to go into public.
I have to buy new Loop earplugs because I lost the ones my friend bought me for my birthday 😭 I have started carrying "thinking putty" and/or some pretty rocks in my bag lately! I have some nice smooth gemstones (just cheap ones, like from souvenir stores) that are great to fiddle with in my hand or stare at the sparkles or how they catch the light. Tactical and visual stim in one!
My friend gave me bose headphones when he broke my wire ones and I’m so happy he did because I wear them everywhere and they are so useful for dealing with how loud my neighborhood is.
I bring my backpack almost everywhere. I have a North Face daypack, and it has a chest strap which is helpful when I need deep pressure input. I can use it like a weighted compression vest! I keep all kinds of things in it, some because autism, some because I like to be prepared, and some because my parents have split custody and either house may be out of things like medications at times. Here’s what’s usually in there: - iPad - iPad charger - Bluetooth headphones - various fidgets/stim toys - water bottle - snacks - first aid kit with acetaminophen, ibuprofen, anti-diarrheal, cold medicine, antibiotic cream, band aids, gauze, medical tape, etc. - lotion - oxygen-activated hand warmers (I use these in the winter because I live in Canada) - glasses strap - hair ties - carabiners (in case I need to attach something to the outside of my backpack - masks, both disposable and fabric - wallet - compass - sunglasses - blue pen, black pen, pencil, and sharpie - Kleenex - house and mail key - notebook - hand sanitizer - menstrual products - inhaler - clear nail polish to fix a snagging broken nail - cornstarch for chafing Sometimes I add a few other things, including: - book - switch lite - carrying strap for iPad - deodorant - visual/picture schedule - markers - power bank
Realizing that an autism survival bag is something I've been doing like... my whole life before I even knew that I'm autistic. I recently got a set of Loop Experience Pro earplugs! I use them at work (I work in retail) and sometimes just to go to the store. I wish I knew about your coupon though, I'm still paying mine off😅
Yes, headphones are a must. I’ve just bought new wireless ones because music helps me cope when I’m around people. As long as don’t make eye contact with people, they leave me alone. Other that stimming stuff, baby wipes, water bottle, sketchbook, iPad and reading material.
So happy UA-cam offers the option to play videos in a slower pace. I love Chloe’s videos so much but my brain can’t process what she says when she talks so fast… I’m so glad I can still enjoy her content this way :D
“..to cope in a world that is not designed for me..” We say this all the time and I feel like it’s doing harm along with the good. Obviously, when I went to a party the other day and it was too much to walk through the door without immediately leaving to hide, let alone stay all night without having a meltdown in the next few days, that party was not designed for me. It was the most overstimulating environment I’d been in for a long time if not ever. But if I go around with a constant reminder in my head saying the world is not designed for me how does that really help when my goal is to be a respectful adult in the world who isn’t socially a monk that never leaves the monastery.
whats in my bag: auditory processing disorder edition 1. noise cancelling headphones 2.fidgets that make satisfying noises 3.mini plushie for public overstimulation (loud noises) 4.phone charger (obvi) 5.airpods or wireless headphones (to listen to calming music>
Where I live a lot of places have signs on their doors stating "No backpacks allowed in the store. No exceptions!". So, almost pointless in having bags/backpacks in my town expect for going to school.
my backpack includes: -my headphones (one pair for music and the other are sound-cancelling for when i want to hear nothing) -water bottle -journal/planner -pen -wallet -keys -fidget/s -snack -deodorant -mask -sometimes a book (depends what one, theres a special series i have that i don't want to risk taking outside haha) And my phone goes in my pocket
I personally have both a backpack and shoulder bag with me and I have a lot of sensory items like sunglasses, and my snapback and I do still get a lot of weird looks even by my own hairdresser
A new item I've been loving is just a soft beanie. I get very disoriented with bad headaches on windy and cold days, and just keeping my head warm and unassaulted is major. Keeps the wind out of my ears too, which is nice. People kept on buying me hats that were too constricting so I never wore them. I have a big head. I just wanted something soft, and I finally got it.
i really hate wearing backpacks! If I can’t get the straps perfectly even, then I’m not wearing it lol. So i bring a tote bag to school! It had been working well, I’m starting to transition myself over to wearing small backpacks because I want to do lots of travelling in the future and I know that tends to require backpacks!
I personally don't feel safe walking around in public wearing headphones. Thieves and people with ill intent can creep up behind you, and you're oblivious. Traffic is also a danger, you can be lost in your own world, walk in front of a tram, and splat.
I saw one vid by a professor who is autistic. She advised to limit ur use of those headphones and only use it when necessary like supermarkets (don't think anyone's gonna Robbed from from there) I'd prolly wear it on streets when I'm really frustrated and need to calm down. Find a place to sit on a bench and cool down, take off the headphones then slowly adjust to the change in sound environment.
Mhmm I’m visually impaired and have to be careful. When I used to go out in my power wheelchair I would only wear one earbud so I could hear stuff still. I only use my AirPods at home but like that they have a transparency mode too
neurotypical getting tips on what to pack in my backpack because I usually carry almost nothing and sometimes it can be useful to have this kind of thing. in my painting classes I usually bring, -painting material (of course). -cell and phone (to listen music on the train). -Wallet. -jacket (when it's cold). -mask. -bottle of water -sweet candys. -knife(my home country is kinda dangerous but overall it can be useful for a lot of things) normally this is what I take but your video gave me good ideas like having a first aid kit.
As someone with autism i didn't know channels like this existed until now. I also had no idea what a fight toy was until now I speculate this is why im so obsessed with pressure flaking it makes perfect sense.
What's in my bag- OCD/SPD/Anxiety edition Noise cancelling headphones Regular headphones Sunglasses Lip balm First aid kit Pop it fidget toy Tanglez fidget toy Chew necklace Pads Hand sanitizer Hand wipes Compression gloves Extra pair of fuzzy socks Reusable straws Small stuffed animal Self defense keychain Gravity Falls book(My fav) Ibuprofen Tums(Acid indigestion)
What's in my bag Anxiety and autism edition: Water a snack fidget toys headphones (I don't have noise cancelling ones, but these sort of work) jacket/hoodie Band-Aids hairbands pads/tampons for emergencies gum (Sometimes) tissues tiny notebook & pencil (I find drawing really calming) lip balm little bag of lavender (For anxiety attacks)
Guys, THANK YOU for both video, and for everyone’s comments! I’m compiling a bag to take with my everywhere, a lot of my friends are on the spectrum/etc and I wanna be the friend who is always prepared :) this is very helpful!
I actually have a bag like this too. I call it it my travel bag but tbh its really my "I need theses things to cope with being out in public" bag. In mine I always keep earplugs, a powerbank, dramamine and headache relief, wireless earbuds, gum or something i can chew on, at least 1 fidget toy, pencils erasers and my notebook, a regular book, and a plushie. sometimes ill put snacks or a portable gaming system(my 3ds or switch lite) and whatnot in there too ^^
I have a loungefly HP bag and I love it. It’s my little bag for easy outings. I have a much bigger backpack for bigger days where I need more items like my AAC device that takes up more room. So my big bag which I use the most often has my Snug ear defenders, sunglasses, water bottle, gum, pouch of sensory toys that range from little squashy animals to the newer bubble pop toy. I don’t mind when things I need become popular because it just means I can get them easier and at a better price! I have a piece o cloth too. Mine is courdoroy on one side and a velvety texture on the other. Then I have a little tin of Cheerios and a little tin of dog treats for my Service Dog. Then of course my wallet which is also a sensory fun time as it’s a fuzzy velvety Niffler.. and finally my phone and my iPod with headphones. I know I am one of the few people in the world who still has not gotten a smartphone. 🌟🌟
What I put in my kit: Headphones Phone Note pad and pen(because my brain never stops and something might be important) Crystals ( to look at and I like them) A glove (for my left hand because sometimes to many things are on the right of me) Tissues. ( Btw I’m not diagnosed with anything yet but I’m going through an autism assessment and if I do have it I hope this might help someone :))
I have autism as well, and I have headphones for music, it helps me to feel better and soft stuffed animals are my comfort zone. Along with soft blankets. I am going to be bringing a beanie baby or something similar for my self, I find them calming.
also, i get so carried away with my gum chewing. i have to chew my gum so aggressively in order for it to feel good and when i can’t do that i have to suppress it and it makes me so angry
Chloe, I so LOVE your super cute Dumbo Bag:)!! And I LOVE how the extra compartment with the zipper is a pink and white tent:)!! And I so LOVE that pink floral crown you wear:)!!! As for "fidget toys" I know this is old school, but you could get a Rubix's Cube because it is relaxing and you are so smart I think you would love it:)!!! I could never solve the Rubix Cube, but I always enjoyed playing with it:)!! However, I so LOVE your Unicorn cloth with the maze and little ball in it because when I feel anxiety waiting in a Doctor's office or I am in some physical pain, I would to solve the maze :)!!! And although I am not Autistic, I too forget things and misplace things. And I LOVE soft things like plush toys:)!! I have a small Harmony Care Bear clip that I could bring with me, but my larger Toys like my Pusheen and my Rolbie Lamb made by Jelly Cat, I would have to wait until I come home:)!! Mostly I like to collect Stuffed Animals and Dolls ( which are my hyper fixation) whether they are super soft or not, but I also like that softness because it is comforting, especially today because I was experiencing physical pain. And I can sympathize with you with all the construction noise and that headset looks good because I am unable to wear ear plugs due to sound that happens in one ear from time to time. And Chloe, a suggestion is that you could download video games and play them, like animal crossing, which a few You Tube people have recommended:)!! Thank you Chloe for sharing all your survival stuff to get through the day:)!!!
- pulseomitter and thermometer - charting/ report notebook CNA stuff - snacks - body spray - drawing book - pencil case - protein bar - excedrine and tums - brush - pencil case planner and todo list
I would love to use earplugs like those but putting things in my ears is an absolute nightmare for me. If I ever find something like that but made to fit over my ears I would probably buy 3 of them at that exact moment
Hi Chloe! Just gotta say how amazing your talk with the Yellow Ladybugs was! I was there myself, (my name is Maddy) and I have to thank you for doing that!
I just found your channel, I carry a range of fidgets with me every day, including 2 that I wear around my neck on a lanyard as my primary go-to's. I have my earplugs that I use all of the time at work as people are just noisy. Fortunately my leader at work is very caring & does her best to take my needs into account.
i know this video is older, but an idea that i always bring out in my bag is baby/toilet wipes! they're multi-use, being useful in situations where your hands are sticky or dirty, and it makes me feel a lot less anxious to have them if i have to use the restroom outside of my home.
I walked around with a shoulder bag with a box with paper tapes with my own computer programs on them (in 1978). Now I finally understand why I did that.
I also have a Disney bag!! It's from Hot Topic and it's 101 Dalmatians and the STRAPS HAVE SPOTS!!!! And in my bag is my phone, my noise canceling headphones, chargers, my Tangle, and that's all I remember
Sunflower Laynard has come to Denmark this last fall. I carry my headphones, planner, ear plugs, battery charger, and a ton of colorful pens, and a book. This is I am not going to university. I carry an extra laynard all the time. I am giving them away to people who do not have them, so I have to pick up more at the local mall or IKEA. Though in Denmark they are not giving out the card with it. Maybe I should look online and find some of the ID cards that attach to them. I got mine when I traveled back to Denmark from the States in July 2020. I was stuck at home with my family (not crying here about that!!, though I missed my husband), for 3 extra months. I refused to pay 25,000 USD to fly home before that. It was a relief getting through security at the airports. I had one on in IKEA, and this lady with a screaming kid for over 10 minutes, was behind me in the store, caught up with me. I was looking at something and she just brought herself and her screaming kid in the cart right up to me. I asked her to please give me space, I have sensitivity to noise. She starts screaming at me, and well ADHD impulsivity from there it got into yelling back at her. The guy working the section sided with the lady with baby, even though I have a disability. Yeah, I get people look at you and make comments with screaming kids, I have over 20 nieces and nephews I have watched and taken shopping before, some of them also neurodiverse. Yet, if someone with a disability asks nicely, I never got in their face about it. I think it had to do with the “complaining American, how dare they ask me to do something with my kid” which is a big cultural no-no in Denmark. Kid about to kill themselves cycling down a hill after a blind turn into a road, do not tell me that my kid is being unsafe. Yeah that happened, I came to a screeching halt within a meter of that one. Long story short, I told management that the guy in that section needed to know and be trained about neurodiversity on my way out the door. Yes, that was the one time I forgot my headset, and needed to stop to pick something up.
I have a lot of sensory toys, umbrella, opal card on a lanyard, also Bose headphones, regular noise cancelling headphones, wallet, quick meds like inhaler, reflux meds and a pain killer and spacer, sometimes my iPad or a notebook, epilepsy info USB, portable charger, sunnies and glasses, keys, sometimes my switch, sometimes chapstick and I think that’s all. ADHD and fear of forgetting bags again is scaryyyy. My bag upgraded from kingdom hearts loungefly to nightmare before Christmas zing brand.
I'd wear my earplugs everywhere if I wasn't so paranoid about being run over by a speeding car, or just a person on a bike with no bell😅 Instead I wear my regular bluetooth earbuds, but with the sound off or just one ear in. I like having soft squishy keychains on my bag, because they also just function as cute accessories! One's a tiny red crochet heart, and the other is a pink bunny (my favorite color AND animal😗)
I got so much out of this video! I was taking notes! Thanks for sharing this. I’m fairly new to autism and still figuring out how to help myself when I’m out in public with my kids. Thanks so so much!
I love your videos you have such a good energy and you have taught me so much about autism and my understanding of how to support my autistic friends and fam!! ❤️ Thank you!!! anyway got a bit side tracked but my question is, I have complex PTSD and so I tend to carry around fidget toys and sensory items to help with my PTSD symptoms, is that considered bad as I am not autistic nor do I have ADHD?
I'm sorry for late comment. I had already watched your vid and now I'm changing things in my bag and decided to "steal" Ideas. I was just thinking about how they should make chewing gum that doesn't completely kill the stomach. Really!

And my back hurts
I've been this way since I was young, I can't remember not having something for extra or not needed to have something. Also, I'm the group mum too! Luckily, I now have a man to carry my bag. 💕
@@tamberjuneYES, you never know when you might need something, better just to have it all just in case lol 💕
@@NEONrayne I don't know, I just like to know that if I'm going to get a drink and the top of the bottle is a weird shape that feels weird to use I just like to have straws with me, it's also easier to drink from straws if i have had a panic attack or anxiety attack (both of which i get) when I'm all trembly, a friend could hold the bottle whilst I drink because cold water is a grounding technique that works for me
My bag is very similar:
- multiple lip balm/oils
- 2 different types of hand sanitizer (spray/gel)
- these things called seat belt adjusters that hook onto your seatbelt and help position it in a more comfortable position
- gum/mints/sometimes straight up candy
- foldable hair brush/mirror
- solar battery pack
- regular battery pack
- small bottles of favorite body spray
- wrist bands for nausea
- list of current medications tucked into wallet
- 2 types of sunscreen (spray/lotion)
- floss
- multiple types of cables
- multiple hand creams
- tissue
- first aid kit
- pads in case someone needs it
- keys
- wallet
- pepper spray
- multiple masks
- nail clippers/tools
- motion sickness pills
- Tylenol
- notepad + pen
- small scissors that fold/have a cap
- earbuds
- teddy bear keychain
- phone
- disinfectant wipes
I feel the need to add a few things to my bag though like a fan, water bottle, reusable utensils, and probably some other bits and bobs.
It must be pretty big to hold all the stuff
And also I'm the mom friend so like- I need a larger backpack than the one I currently have xD
This is what is in my backpack for autism and adhd:
- chewing gum
- a case for my glases
- sunglasses
- hair ties
- period bag (with various period products, pain meds and spare undies)
- a book (your girl does not leave her room without a book lol)
- hand lotion
- sanitiser
- chapstick
- masks
- fidget toys
- earplugs
- anc headphones
- water bottle
- snacks (safe foods)
ive always loved what’s in my bag videos. now i realize it was because i wanted to know 1) how to make sure i didn’t have any uncomfy situations 2) so that i could imitate what other people do so that i could be more “put together” and “normal”. autism + what’s in my bag video obsessions go hand in hand
now i love my backpack and don’t take it anywhere without me
Yup me too
What’s in my bag ADD, anxiety and hypersensitivity version :
- A drawing book
- A book to write
- A pencil box or at least a pencil, an eraser and a sharpener
- My chargers
- My noise cancelling headphones
- A survival kit, so :
-> lipstick
-> Nail cutter
-> Nail file
-> Cream
-> Toothbrush
-> Mouthwash
-> Dental floss
-> Mirror
-> Many types of pills
-> Bandaid
-> Hair ties
-> Essential oil’s
-> Tweezers
-> Hair brush
-> Tampons
-> Hand sanitizer
-> Soap
-> Tissues
-> Deodorant
- Food and candys (I like to keep tender bars, mint or anise hard candy, or chocolate)
- A kindle, cause it takes less space then a book
- Some money in my phone case
- My keys
- My water bottle
- A pair of socks
- Mascaras, in case that I can’t stop pulling my lashes
- Gum, for if I am clenching my jaw too much
- A peace of silk, to calm me down
I think that’s it is it.
Calmer pro&night, prescription sunglasses, light blocking mask, swimsuit/flip flops, my favorite pen & paper, external battery, hoodie, chew toy on lanyard, physical fidget, stone(s) to hold/rub, over ear headphones, toothpicks, lip balm, lucky money/colones/coin, non fiction book, smell good, biofreeze patches, spiral hair tie, q-tips, arnica, daily medications (including "as needed"), fabric to rub (usually on bag exterior), molle patches for external storage, spotify app, Pimsleur language learning app, story notes/r&d (I'm a writer)... & light projector & light blanket if overnight... 😁💟🐙
I have a massive backpack with very similar.
I need all the things. Change of socks and underwear and baby wipes make me feel happy too.
I..I don’t even carry my phone half the time. Seriously how do you remember to grab your bag I’m a scatter brained mess lol
Hi Chloe! I am only 11 and on he spectrum. You have really helped me so much! Btw I love ur flower crown!
My bag as an neurodivergent person with POTS:
- Loop earplugs (Engage and experience)
- Noise canceling headphones
- Water bottle filled with water mixed with electrolytes
- Medication and painkillers
- (salty) snack though I usually forget one
- Phone
- Wallet
- Keys
- Gloves (if it's cold)
Hi! I loved the video!
Here is my what's in my bag-
- Sketchbook
- Pen/drawing supplies
- Whatever I am hipper fixated on (sewing, crochet, etc)
- Feminine products
- Phone
- Earphones
- Portable charger
- Pocket knife
- Flashlight
- Chapstick
- Braces wax
- Medicine (Advil, tums)
- Wallet
And this one is not going to fit in my bag but I ALWAYS have my water bottle with me. It holds 2.5 liters or 85 OZ in it.
Random NTs overusing fidget toys kinda helped to normalize it.
They also got them banned though making it harder for neurodivergent kids to relax and focus on class
Yup they are all banned for a bit bit then cheap and in pretty coulors about 3 yrs after the trend
not all types were banned.
@@bri-qk2nz couldn't you 5150 it?
I keep a weighted lap pad, gum, a backup chewerly necklace, stim toys, tea bags with hot water, water bottle, sunflower lanyard, and thats it really lol I have hard sensory needs so it can be challenging for me to go into public.
I have to buy new Loop earplugs because I lost the ones my friend bought me for my birthday 😭
I have started carrying "thinking putty" and/or some pretty rocks in my bag lately!
Here’s what’s usually in there:
- iPad
- iPad charger
- Bluetooth headphones
- various fidgets/stim toys
- water bottle
- snacks
- first aid kit with acetaminophen, ibuprofen, anti-diarrheal, cold medicine, antibiotic cream, band aids, gauze, medical tape, etc.
- lotion
- oxygen-activated hand warmers (I use these in the winter because I live in Canada)
- glasses strap
- hair ties
- carabiners (in case I need to attach something to the outside of my backpack
- masks, both disposable and fabric
- wallet
- compass
- sunglasses
- blue pen, black pen, pencil, and sharpie
- Kleenex
- house and mail key
- notebook
- hand sanitizer
- menstrual products
- inhaler
- clear nail polish to fix a snagging broken nail
- cornstarch for chafing
Sometimes I add a few other things, including:
- book
- switch lite
- carrying strap for iPad
- deodorant
- visual/picture schedule
- markers
- power bank
I love Chloe’s videos so much but my brain can’t process what she says when she talks so fast… I’m so glad I can still enjoy her content this way :D
i watched this around when it came out but came back because im going to a concert tonight and im soooo stressed. thank you so much chloe
But if I go around with a constant reminder in my head saying the world is not designed for me how does that really help when my goal is to be a respectful adult in the world who isn’t socially a monk that never leaves the monastery.
whats in my bag: auditory processing disorder edition
1. noise cancelling headphones
2.fidgets that make satisfying noises
3.mini plushie for public overstimulation (loud noises)
4.phone charger (obvi)
5.airpods or wireless headphones (to listen to calming music>
Where I live a lot of places have signs on their doors stating "No backpacks allowed in the store. No exceptions!". So, almost pointless in having bags/backpacks in my town expect for going to school.
this is great cause i JUST got a new bag and need some extra ideas on what to bring that might help out in public ❤️
my backpack includes:
-my headphones (one pair for music and the other are sound-cancelling for when i want to hear nothing)
-water bottle
-journal/planner
-pen
-wallet
-keys
-fidget/s
-snack
-deodorant
-mask
-sometimes a book (depends what one, theres a special series i have that i don't want to risk taking outside haha)
And my phone goes in my pocket
oh and i forgot hand sanitizer
I personally have both a backpack and shoulder bag with me and I have a lot of sensory items like sunglasses, and my snapback and I do still get a lot of weird looks even by my own hairdresser
Transitions lenses are amazing if you need optical glasses all the time.
Unfortunately mine don’t work in the car and they don’t get dark enough (I also have albinism which causes my eyes to not filter light properly
@@ReineDeLaSeine14 they’re problematic inside annoyingly. Do you tend to wear sunglasses a lot of the time?
She advised to limit ur use of those headphones and only use it when necessary like supermarkets (don't think anyone's gonna Robbed from from there)
I'd prolly wear it on streets when I'm really frustrated and need to calm down. Find a place to sit on a bench and cool down, take off the headphones then slowly adjust to the change in sound environment.
Mhmm I’m visually impaired and have to be careful. When I used to go out in my power wheelchair I would only wear one earbud so I could hear stuff still. I only use my AirPods at home but like that they have a transparency mode too
neurotypical getting tips on what to pack in my backpack because I usually carry almost nothing and sometimes it can be useful to have this kind of thing. in my painting classes I usually bring,
-painting material (of course).
-cell and phone (to listen music on the train).
-Wallet.
-jacket (when it's cold).
-mask.
-bottle of water
-sweet candys.
-knife(my home country is kinda dangerous but overall it can be useful for a lot of things)
normally this is what I take but your video gave me good ideas like having a first aid kit.
WOW, that is a perfect title.
I've been asked that question countless times.
As someone with autism i didn't know channels like this existed until now. I also had no idea what a fight toy was until now I speculate this is why im so obsessed with pressure flaking it makes perfect sense.

Noise cancelling headphones
Regular headphones
Sunglasses
Lip balm
First aid kit
Pop it fidget toy
Tanglez fidget toy
Chew necklace
Pads
Hand sanitizer
Hand wipes
Compression gloves
Extra pair of fuzzy socks
Reusable straws
Small stuffed animal
Self defense keychain
Gravity Falls book(My fav)
Ibuprofen
Tums(Acid indigestion)
What's in my bag Anxiety and autism edition:
Water
a snack
fidget toys
headphones (I don't have noise cancelling ones, but these sort of work)
jacket/hoodie
Band-Aids
hairbands
pads/tampons for emergencies
gum (Sometimes)
tissues
tiny notebook & pencil (I find drawing really calming)
lip balm
little bag of lavender (For anxiety attacks)
Aaaaa the fit in this video with the sweatshirt and the lil bag looks so comfy and cute I want it sm
I LOOOve my loop earplugs!!! They're so helpful esp. bc I have misophonia so I can just pop them in during meals and nobody even notices
I recently got a pair of loop earplugs and they are one of my absolute favourite things
In my bag I have Noice canceling headphones, Bluetooth headphones, a lil teddy bear, a portable charger, fidgets, and Rubik’s cubes
What I put in my kit:
Headphones
Phone
Note pad and pen(because my brain never stops and something might be important)
Crystals ( to look at and I like them)
A glove (for my left hand because sometimes to many things are on the right of me)
Tissues.
( Btw I’m not diagnosed with anything yet but I’m going through an autism assessment and if I do have it I hope this might help someone :))
boose is the best brand for me personally in terms of headphones to block out sound, they fit into my bag and are so comfortable !!
I've started doing this, and it's helped so much
My friends call me "the bag lady"... I'm adding that to my list of traits 😆
I have autism as well, and I have headphones for music, it helps me to feel better and soft stuffed animals are my comfort zone. Along with soft blankets. I am going to be bringing a beanie baby or something similar for my self, I find them calming.
Love the astroboy sweatshirt
this is so helpful thank you
my day is always better when you upload
also, i get so carried away with my gum chewing. i have to chew my gum so aggressively in order for it to feel good and when i can’t do that i have to suppress it and it makes me so angry
I love the speed of your voice. I can’t pay attention to people who speak slower than you. You’re my kind person!
- pulseomitter and thermometer
- charting/ report notebook CNA stuff
- snacks
- body spray
- drawing book
- pencil case
- protein bar
- excedrine and tums
- brush
- pencil case planner and todo list
I would love to use earplugs like those but putting things in my ears is an absolute nightmare for me. If I ever find something like that but made to fit over my ears I would probably buy 3 of them at that exact moment
Hi Chloe! Just gotta say how amazing your talk with the Yellow Ladybugs was! I was there myself, (my name is Maddy) and I have to thank you for doing that!

Just saw this and definitely getting those loop earbuds.
Oh how I need this.
I just found your channel, I carry a range of fidgets with me every day, including 2 that I wear around my neck on a lanyard as my primary go-to's. I have my earplugs that I use all of the time at work as people are just noisy. Fortunately my leader at work is very caring & does her best to take my needs into account.
Omg I wore sunglasses in the grocery store made me feel so much better ❤😂🎉 I am so happy 😁
Those cards are genius! Def need to see more about those!
The decibel earbuds sound incredible.
i know this video is older, but an idea that i always bring out in my bag is baby/toilet wipes! they're multi-use, being useful in situations where your hands are sticky or dirty, and it makes me feel a lot less anxious to have them if i have to use the restroom outside of my home.
I walked around with a shoulder bag with a box with paper tapes with my own computer programs on them (in 1978). Now I finally understand why I did that.
Much love for the Loop code, I just upgraded to another set, and bought two for my Grams and a coworker.
This was the first video I watched Chloe’s video and I have to say you are extremely helpful and educational ❤
I also have a Disney bag!! It's from Hot Topic and it's 101 Dalmatians and the STRAPS HAVE SPOTS!!!!
And in my bag is my phone, my noise canceling headphones, chargers, my Tangle, and that's all I remember
Oh my godddd i have those EXACT earplugss the same color and everything!!
So good vid im happy i find you after the netflix serie bc your ut Channel is a life saver
Tip i have 2 kinds of sunny’s light ones for inside and darker ones for more light
In love with the shirt
waiting for the day they invent comfortable smell-blockers. lol smell is my worst sensory trigger!
Ngl, I clicked on this video because of the pretty colours, but this was actually very informative. Thank you.
I use my sunglasses twice as much in the winter, because of the brightness of the snow reflecting in the sun, it is so overstimulating
I have a crossbody bag so I also cannot lose it.
As a person with autism the loop earplugs and noise cancelling headphones are so helpful !
Ok I'd like to have absorbed more of that but my asd got stuck on Dumbo... I need that bag...
Im just taking notes cause some of this stuff sounds really good and helpful! ✨
Exited to see what you carry around! Maybe it’ll help me tooooo! 💛💛
Ahh I just ordered a set of loop earplugs yesterday, timing lol! Keen to get them. Love your videos
Here in the first five minutes of uploading let's go
Same!
I am obsessed with those necklaces!
I like Dumbo, my favorite animal is the elephant 🐘, I have alot of elephant stuffed animals
Snap! The only thing else I have in mine is a personal air purifier. It's an ioniser and is great for suppressing unwanted smells.
Are you a mind reader, Chloe?
I was just thinking earlier today how cool it would be if you made a video like this!
WATER!! not just an autism thing obviously but I always bring a water bottle with me super super good habit to pick up!
I love my loops!!! Can’t sleep without!
I got so much out of this video! I was taking notes! Thanks for sharing this. I’m fairly new to autism and still figuring out how to help myself when I’m out in public with my kids. Thanks so so much!
Oh my GODDESS when you said you coded tumblr blogs - ME TOO. I love squarespace bc I was good at coding tumblr… but that was about it, too lol.
I think it's fine, whatever helps you cope! c-PTSD and autism have overlaping traits.
Sensory toys are for everyone!
I'm sorry for late comment. I had already watched your vid and now I'm changing things in my bag and decided to "steal" Ideas. I was just thinking about how they should make chewing gum that doesn't completely kill the stomach. Really!
going to have to get some of these things, been trying ti get round to it for a while but keep not doing because of excutive dysfunction
Love this!!Could you do a video on the loop ear plugs?
People still try talking to me with my headphones on so I just ignore them 😂
I have the same headphones except silver/grey! They’ve honestly been a lifesaver :)
