In this era, it's hard to find games like Combat Arms honestly, the clan matches were my favorite, literally join any room and challenge any clan. Wanted In Differ was mine for Melee Clan also Melee Nation. Elite Ops Inc. Berzerk You know it's fun when you just join a random person's room and you don't expect your clan mates to be there. Good old days. My era was 2008-2015, I quit because I remember CA had this huge shut down for a long time. I forgot what the cause was but I remember logging back in and it was lagging since everyone was trying to log back in. Combat Arms is still alive but not the same obviously. You know games like this is outstanding when you have GM's play with people, not many games does this. If you play Combat Arms then you obviously played Maple Story too. Back then, people would just hop on Combat arms and play for awhile and then hop on Maple Story. Obviously I've been in so much clans because CA you're going to expect a lot of clan hopping. I remember, that's when I first started playing combat arms. August 2009. I Remember zombie host had like 600 hp and infected around 450. This is when Quarantine Mode was barley new. Damn, those were good times.. I also miss the old theme the original song and lobby song. :')

I grew up with this game. I started playing in 2011 all the way to 2015. Every single day no-life mod, I played 6-7 hours a day on average in first few years. I started as eli/OfA player but switched to QR when I heard about stiff ninja, delta noob and other players, I was just a kid who wanted to be as good as you guys were. Throughout the years I met so many good friends playing the game, we used to talk on Skype back in the day when it was popular. Combat arms is the only thing that tought me English, not the school. Every nice memory I have about my childhood has to do something with Combat Arms. I'm a gamer from the bottom of my heart, I play games every single day still, but NO GAME was ever able to leave a mark on me as Combat Arms did. Never. After hundreds of games and thousands of hours playing. Never. It's like the first real love that we experience, I will just never ever forget and get over CA, the mark it left is just too big. I just can't forget the best, most beautiful period of my life. I still remember spending my savings of around 5$/2-3weeks to buy NX. Also by SMS because I was to young to have a card, so I was satisfied with getting just some NX for my QR gear. Just perfect childhood. Fuck, Imma tear up. Thank you Nexon, although you let the game slowly die over the years, thank you for all the memories. Thank you Brian for endless fun and adrenaline watching your montages, you were my no.1 idol. GG
My brother got me into this game when I was only 10, him and I would play this game a lot together and it made so many good memories in my mind. I miss the 2009-2011 era. If I could go back in time to play this again and relive it, I would in an instant. This game and RuneScape were my go to. I love this game and I will still play it here and there. I remember playing this game a bit in 2008. All of 2009/2010 and a bit of 2011 all on the NA server. I played it with so many "famous" players. I played against Emnesty. His second name at the time was scirca or some shit. I remember finding him in a 'SNIPER ONLY - JUNK FLEA - OMA' Bruh, everyone would rush into that room lmao. I remember playing against iELIX. Despite his weird past and his hacking "de_stroyed" clan. He was a lot of fun to play with. And he was a HUGE combat arms UA-camr. I remember playing with Ezenemy and joining his clan. All that hate between his youtube channel and Combat Arms and the whole lot was just crazy. So I joined his clan just to be apart of the action. We played against so many high level clans and players. I remember 1v1ing xReFL3Xx. God, he was such a pro. Lost but came close tho. 13 to 15. I remember every now and then running to the clan called West Coast Killers? And greatfullded being ranked number 1. Just being in the presence of these players felt so cool. Like it was an honour or something. LOL. I still remember the maps. Junk Flea being my favourite. Sand Hog and few others that I can only picture but can't remember their names hahaha. The game really became top around the 2010/2011 days. Especially with SnD. It became so popular. Everyone just wanted to be like the best players who upload videos and montages on youtube. It made me do it. I made montages. But I stopped playing because, everyone in NA kinda stopped. All the famous players/friends. We all just stopped. And we won't see each other ever again :(
I remember the map Gray Hammer...Had a really open sense of space. And of course I remember those Cabin Fever and Black Lung type games. They felt so massive and significant to my 15 year old self
I would love to play again but CA:R is full of people with max enhanced defence making it impossible to kill them and CA:C is just a 50% speed fest with turkish players rage kicking everyone. Just horrible the state of this game and a massive part of my childhood i wont be able to revisit properly
I think the most tragic part about this for the quar community is this. Say you're a CS:GO player and for whatever reason the game goes to complete shit. There are a million other games 'like' CS:GO to choose from (Rainbow, Valorant, etc.) There has never and will never be ANYTHING like Combat Arms Quarantine Regen ever again. When you really break down and look at the way this game mode is set up and played it is wildly bizarre and unique. It is (was) a perfect mess that cannot be replicated, I highly doubt the developers imagined the kind of players and community this game mode created. I have never loved a game so intensely as Combat Arms Quarantine Regen and probably never will again due to its irreplaceability. It honestly leaves a massive hole in my heart. I probably have 10,000+ hours in this game mode and it was my childhood, got me through some terrible times in my life. The closest thing that comes to quar for me is Halo Reach infection but its still a distant 2nd for me and is dead as fuck too. I loved your montages, gameplays and tutorials back in the day. We've played together on more than a few occasions although you probably wouldn't remember but I remember being 14 and hopping in a lobby you were in and just fanboying like crazy. Wasn't no simp though I infected your ass at least a few dozen times over the years :D. Love you man this shit just breaks my heart.
yeah man, no other games quite like it. I'm sure eventually the game concept will surface again but who knows when. I'm glad I got to experience playing quar with everyone, it was fun while it lasted :)

Another reason people stopped playing is: getting banned unreasonably and always permanent. Was a top 500 player back in Nexon days and got permanently banned for abusing the game mechanics. Nexon had only a perma ban policy. Nice time wasted since then I never played the game again. Also I remember the lootboxes, either I was really unlucky or those free keys for the nx boxes didn't have a chance for permanent weapons. Atleast it felt like it. Never got anything better than a 7 days weapon.
Nexon EU had a perma ban only policy. Nexon NA usually didn't ban you permanently unless you were a repeat offender or hacking. EU was always way more strict than NA.
This video was great and I appreciate the time and effort you put into it. I was 10 when I first started to play this game, this is where I met my first online friend on, I remember begging my mom for a nexon game card so I could afford and buy Mei because I though she looked so cool. As soon as I got it after months of begging I got Mei and told my friend about it. We quickly made a youtube video where we made a line of mines blow up across wave rider. Complete waste of time and took us like 2 hours but man did I have a blast with him. We became good friends but we lost contact with each other once the game started dying out. Not trying to promote our video but it was "The Biggest Explosion on Waverider - COMBAT ARMS". I am tearing up just thinking about it, such good times.
I remember playing back in 2008 on an old laptop. Around 2010/2011 I started climbing up the ladder and stayed in and around the top 50 and then moved onto killing zombie hordes and finally quit the game in 2013 as the rage kick became so toxic that I was forced to play worse in order to stay.
2:40 Yah that's true. In the year 2013 glitching was one of the main reasons people got banned pretty quickly and Nexon patched all the buggs people found. Overdose is a good example of that, because is one of the early maps that got patched alot. But now getting a high rank means nothing, because you can get pretty much everything at the beggining. I cried when I was a child to get an m32 in the game, but now I can get it for free. I started playing CA when I was in school and pretty much started playing when the gold age of the game started to end. At the beggining I didn't glitch, because I was scared of lossing my account (before getting a high rank meant something at least). I loved playing eli pro meele games with my kukri and made some good friends over there... still remember how happy I was of becoming an admin of one of the elite meelee clans of that time (order of chaos). Anyways, they patched the shifting and my kukri become pretty much useless against my pro friends with close range weapons and... thats when I started to glitch again. For me glitching is funn, because I can get to places that others havent touched yet... But I know some people abuse of them to win. For example, camping in a glitch spot with auto turrets in QR. In conclussion, glitching is morally wrong, but personally I like it. Funny thing is that even when I don't glitch and try to play fairly in elimination or eli pro, elites kick me for getting a good score or killing him. Good video, but I would add the value it had before getting to higher ranks, because only like that you could get better weapons without paying. And thats was one of the main reasons people didn't glitch with their main accounts or didn't even try to glitch at all for the fear of lossing all the hardwork.

I used to play this game as a little kid. I don’t think it died out because of patches. I just think everyone’s older now and just have xbox/ps4. I remember getting blue screen during certain matches

Dude I remember this game was my life when I was 13-16 years old. It was so fun and made a bunch of friends on there. Literally played this game from the time I got home from school till it was bed time and repeat.
I remember when I'd get home from school just to play it with my friends. The most irritating thing was that you could never own weapons... All had to be rented for so many hours/days then you have to spend your pts to own it longer or if you buy the $25 nexon pts from 7/11 for a perma. I still remember when it was $5 or $10 worth of nexon point just to purchase a gun for a whole month. Also the part where you get a few multi kills and already get called a hacker and reported lol..... Would play again if you could start to actually own weapons without the pay 2 win.
I remember spending countless hours of playing this game to the point of being one of the best players in the game, and being very anti-G36E. I love the original and how it was, but I think what started killing the game, as you and Baxstar said, was the uncontrolled hacking and giving permanent elite moderator to those that were, if I remember, Major and above. This essentially caused people to rage kick and even those that bought temporary elite did rage kicking. I had suffered so much with hackusations and kicks due to the fact I was just that good. Eventually I just started playing less and less and the hackusations without evidence basically created a reputation for me being a "known hacker". If Nexon had a better anti-hack system I think the game would've lasted a lot longer like TF2 has. Now that they've combined servers together, last I heard, playing the game feels very unstable connection-wise and it destroys the experience of playing what used to be a great game of its time.
Man was 2009 through like, 2013 the golden age for me and my friends. This game was SO Active and we loved it. I was planning on making a video talking about the history and just pure intensity of this games community. We used to see Nexon currency cards in our store, Advertisements for Combat Arms everywhere, All of our friends played and we met So many people (Who I dont know anymore sadly). It's sad to think of how it's kinda dead now, Cool to see people Definitely still play! But still, damn. Sad stuff.
Holy crap, you're right, I forgot that you could buy Nexon cards at the local Safeway. Nexon was THAT big, they screwed the pooch so hard with Combat Arms...unfortunately I made 0 friends on CA mainly because I didn't have a mic. But I'm right there with you, 2009-2015 CA was truly something else
I remember playing a bunch of quarantine, even with you Stiff. My old CA username was Rule1212. Kinda my last moments of this game was pissing off a hacker in quarantine, getting my account hacked by the same guy, then getting held for ransom. Least in those days, Nexon's cookie cutter message was "here are ways to secure your account" 9 months after the fact. Still salty about that but kinda just goes to show that stuff like hotmail and gmail (at least back then) was very insecure. But even then, I still have a lot of fond memories playing this game when I was younger. Sometimes I want to come play it again, but I know the servers are pretty much dead.
Played Nemesis HQ all day and i reached GOA in 2 month without Zero Kills after i cant remember my Password to my First Account which was COL3 i started to Play this in 2008 this was my fav childhood game even with annoying Hackers the Game was fun
IMO this game had the best Zombie mode in any game EVER. It got your heart pumping and actually took skill and was super challenging. I remember playing back in 2010 I'd say. Man those days were the best. I remember laughing so hard at some of the things me and some of my childhood friends got into.
I began playing Combat Arms with my three young teenage sons back in 2010. Man, we loved the game in its original state, when you couldn’t buy your way up, when you had to be a great player to level up, when the system wasn’t riddled with idiots hacking almost discriminately. We would spend hours in Junk Flea other great maps. The UI and graphics were good enough and simple to use. The ranking system worked as intended, so much so we idolized the guys at the top, some who had taken a couple of years to get there, without hacking or paying to level up. They were elite in the true sense of the word. Nexon owned the single player market and messed up by focusing on profit and not on the community that raised the game from nothing into a true classic at its climax. It saddens me I can’t return to the old game and enjoy it with the same fervor, because it’s not owned by a company who wants to build a community anymore. CA has become a relic, but at least my sons and I have great memories from when it was on top, and for that I’m thankful. It brought us together in ways only a father and son understands. I thank Greatfuldead and so many other brilliant players that made us strive to be better players.
I started playing Combat Arms EU back in 2009. I agree with many of your points, but I‘d like to share my own problems that I had with CA. -NA & EU imbalance - some modes rewarded different exp values across the 2 versions of the game. -changes to HUD and UI. The 2009 UI was characteristic for combat arms, the new one only delivered bugs such as our beloved ,,ultla kill‘‘ from the dredge update. -vertigo update gave every major 2 or above the elite moderator. Non EM lobbies were full of cheaters. However you were likely to get a kick if you killed the EM more than 2 times. -balancing issues: I was fine playing against people with Sopmods and m416 cqb‘s, however I realized that nexon nerfed all these weapons just to bring them back as epic variants that were locked behind expensive nx cases (and rng) IMO the game was at it‘s best when it first released in 2009. I still remember when the black market first opened on ca eu. Only 2 mercenaries (Kamara &Zadan were available and they were cosmetics only. That also applied to the guns. Nexon soon realized that they can milk the cow to an absurd extent, which ultimately led to the end of Combat Arms.

I never cared about the pay-to-win because most players had dooky skills and needed the boost haha. I remember my name, 1235678. I just ran my finger across the keyboard. I would get kicked because people thought I was a hacker. Cabin fever and overdose quarantine was the best. Only reason I stopped playing years ago is because my laptop got stolen and it really bummed me out.
For me this game was something different. I got my first PC aged 12 in 2010. I started playing it until 2015. Met many friends through game that i meet irl now. Got so many memories, talked to so many different people, been in many different clans. When i look back at this time i see it as adventure. Game wasnt best in the world. But for me its #1 in whole life forever.
Once they started adding the extremely fast vests and masks to have your speed at like +35 it just ruined Quarantine. Plus the zombie health buff. I miss this game so much but when I get back on to play its just terrible..
I played back in 2010-2013 I remember I stopped playing because every time I got more than 3 infected kills in one round I would get kicked. When I free run I got kicked. I was literally 12 years old 🤣 I was thinking of downloading it and trying to play again but I'm not too sure. I know my account is gone. I tried playing again in December of 2019 only to see that it was not there so I gave up.

My old account was Armyboy1911 back in 2008 till 2011. I remember when players accused me of hacking when in reality those guys just sucked ass. I hated the Elites because I always kicked there assess and they get butt hurt. I remember having fun playing Quarantine, and using the AK-47 and the SCAR-L and the M4A1. I really managed at times using the crappy M16A3 in good use. Ah I miss playing this game. Also I always remember running and shooting at the tower hitting them somehow and always destroying the players mines.

Kinda miss this game put 9 years of my life into it 12+ hours a day , i barely slept. It is true though towards the end before i left , there were atleast 2 obvious hackers in each match. You could really only play elite mod rooms, which you did get kicked 90% of the time.Not to mention they got rid of their only semi safe server(Black Market), The game started becoming more and more pay to win. Their customer service was getting terrible, it was taking up to 3 years for some people to get a response with an automated message.There was also huge decline due to ui changes, bugs and, lag. Last but not least they started mass banning people thousands a month , half of them being legit(Bans based off crazy stats). Kinda wish it still had a decent playerbase and community, met so many people in CA ill neve forget. Thanks for the nostalgia, and bringing back some of my memories of ca.
I've been playing for about a week and a half now after a multiple year break and JESUS man. Everyone is running around with special p90s that do like 45 damage when originally they do 35, everyone is spamming turrets and fire grenades. It really is fun, but if you aren't in the loop or aren't interested in throwing any money you're probably gonna get your ass kicked for a little bit until you get a feel for the game.
combat arms was the first game i played. i started in 08 or 09 and played as much as possible until i quit around 2014. i stopped playing mostly due to hackers. i still havent found a game that was as fun as CA was before it went downhill. i dont know what it is but nothing else captures the same fun as CA did
Quar was such a unique experience, though I’ve gotten kicked for free running and for getting ultras and unbelievables. I’ve been playing titanfall 2 now because the movement system is amazing and fun as hell once you progress
I got sick of getting ragekicked, got sick of people abusing pay to win weapons (like max set shotty, orthus etc). And seeing Valofe do just the same thing is frustrating. Tried playing a few weeks ago but instantly got shredded by the demonic skull weapons :/ It's not like i can't handle it but it gets on your nerves eventually.
My reason I quit CA is because of the toxic community that are online these days. The amount of times I got rage kicked isn’t even countable anymore. In the OG times the community was fun, but nowadays it’s just straight out trash!
I dont remember a lot of this game. I remember some maps i played as a kid, like Cabin fever. I mostly played zombie maps (with a crane in it?) And a map where you could pilot a robot

I'll add 1 thing. Mines and Auto Turrets in elimination mode, search and destroy mode killed Combat Arms too, you cant even move on the map without getting shot in the back with auto turrets, 80% of the servers are full of mine and auto turret users and all u do is shooting turrets and mines then get shot in the back by a player whos hiding near auto turret. Or you can shoot people and get killed by auto turret or mines. Also there's a huge netcode issue, bullet reg issue, screen reg issue, aah and yes of course glitcehrs who's camping and killing everybody because nobody can shoot them.
Hackers, Pay2Win aspects, and Rage Kicking GMs was the disgusting reasons that made me quit. Had fun during the golden years of this game, but now there are other F2P shooters that do its job better. But for 2008, this was the shit. RIP This game.

its indeed frustrating that people are getting rage kicked. especially in Quarantine Community. ( mostly EU ) they are toxic asf. they be finding any reasons to get rid of good infectors. imagine being that miserable. even KAOS pointed that out in his recent Overdose video. what is the point of playing Quarantine if you get bitchy over infections? luckily we got some good people left with platforms who can address those rage kickers.
Bro u said it all, I play CA since 2011 and I keep coming back time to time but I have to say, the rage kicking going on nowadays is just unbelievable, I get kicked every single room cause I'm low ranked( lost my acc's when they change to valofe) and it's true what u said about having to play worse to not get kicked and still getting kicked. Way back when I used to play WarRock it had the same issue. The main difference is that people would actually be cheating so hard that they had cheats that would just make the vote kick system not work. The votes could be 100% in favour of kicking the cheater and they would just stay.

I had an awesome time playing this game, I had clans, mates, and yes I remember I was really good at it, and good specially with the M60 heavy machine gun, they used to kick me out alot for been good with it. I wish we could go back to when game bearly started, classic.and yes I remember I liked the website where you can check records of members.

Very true. I played it years ago and got okay at it, and it was super fun cuz poeple would talk to eachother and we could learn form eachother. I instaled it again today and keep in mind im a really low rank. I would get kicked off for hacking beacuse i would get a lucky two kills or so. Also I could barely move cuz people just camp and snipe and i cant even move at all. And the money thing with buying guns and stuff really makes a difference. I can cause so little damage and they have these crazy guns ive never seen. So idk...i do miss the way people wold act in the game. It was a lot more fun.

I grew up with this game. I started playing in 2011 all the way to 2015. Every single day no-life mod, I played 6-7 hours a day on average in first few years. I started as eli/OfA player but switched to QR when I heard about stiff ninja, delta noob and other players, I was just a kid who wanted to be as good as you guys were. Throughout the years I met so many good friends playing the game, we used to talk on Skype back in the day when it was popular. Combat arms is the only thing that tought me English, not the school. Every nice memory I have about my childhood has to do something with Combat Arms. I'm a gamer from the bottom of my heart, I play games every single day still, but NO GAME was ever able to leave a mark on me as Combat Arms did. Never. After hundreds of games and thousands of hours playing. Never. It's like the first real love that we experience, I will just never ever forget and get over CA, the mark it left is just too big. I just can't forget the best, most beautiful period of my life. I still remember spending my savings of around 5$/2-3weeks to buy NX. Also by SMS because I was to young to have a card, so I was satisfied with getting just some NX for my QR gear. Just perfect childhood.

My brother got me into this game when I was only 10, him and I would play this game a lot together and it made so many good memories in my mind. I miss the 2009-2011 era. If I could go back in time to play this again and relive it, I would in an instant. This game and RuneScape were my go to. I love this game and I will still play it here and there. I remember playing this game a bit in 2008. All of 2009/2010 and a bit of 2011 all on the NA server. I played it with so many "famous" players.
I played against Emnesty. His second name at the time was scirca or some shit. I remember finding him in a 'SNIPER ONLY - JUNK FLEA - OMA' Bruh, everyone would rush into that room lmao.
I remember playing against iELIX. Despite his weird past and his hacking "de_stroyed" clan. He was a lot of fun to play with. And he was a HUGE combat arms UA-camr.
I remember playing with Ezenemy and joining his clan. All that hate between his youtube channel and Combat Arms and the whole lot was just crazy. So I joined his clan just to be apart of the action. We played against so many high level clans and players.
I remember 1v1ing xReFL3Xx. God, he was such a pro. Lost but came close tho. 13 to 15.
I remember every now and then running to the clan called West Coast Killers? And greatfullded being ranked number 1. Just being in the presence of these players felt so cool. Like it was an honour or something. LOL.
I still remember the maps. Junk Flea being my favourite. Sand Hog and few others that I can only picture but can't remember their names hahaha.
The game really became top around the 2010/2011 days. Especially with SnD. It became so popular. Everyone just wanted to be like the best players who upload videos and montages on youtube. It made me do it. I made montages.
But I stopped playing because, everyone in NA kinda stopped. All the famous players/friends. We all just stopped. And we won't see each other ever again :(
I remember the map Gray Hammer...Had a really open sense of space. And of course I remember those Cabin Fever and Black Lung type games. They felt so massive and significant to my 15 year old self
What I liked the most of that game was the Clan mechanism, clan wars, Clan lvls, and you'd join on games and see clan members of really good clans.

I think the most tragic part about this for the quar community is this. Say you're a CS:GO player and for whatever reason the game goes to complete shit. There are a million other games 'like' CS:GO to choose from (Rainbow, Valorant, etc.) There has never and will never be ANYTHING like Combat Arms Quarantine Regen ever again. When you really break down and look at the way this game mode is set up and played it is wildly bizarre and unique. It is (was) a perfect mess that cannot be replicated, I highly doubt the developers imagined the kind of players and community this game mode created. I have never loved a game so intensely as Combat Arms Quarantine Regen and probably never will again due to its irreplaceability. It honestly leaves a massive hole in my heart. I probably have 10,000+ hours in this game mode and it was my childhood, got me through some terrible times in my life. The closest thing that comes to quar for me is Halo Reach infection but its still a distant 2nd for me and is dead as fuck too. I loved your montages, gameplays and tutorials back in the day. We've played together on more than a few occasions although you probably wouldn't remember but I remember being 14 and hopping in a lobby you were in and just fanboying like crazy. Wasn't no simp though I infected your ass at least a few dozen times over the years :D. Love you man this shit just breaks my heart.

Another reason people stopped playing is: getting banned unreasonably and always permanent. Was a top 500 player back in Nexon days and got permanently banned for abusing the game mechanics. Nexon had only a perma ban policy. Nice time wasted since then I never played the game again. Also I remember the lootboxes, either I was really unlucky or those free keys for the nx boxes didn't have a chance for permanent weapons. Atleast it felt like it. Never got anything better than a 7 days weapon.

Nexon EU had a perma ban only policy. Nexon NA usually didn't ban you permanently unless you were a repeat offender or hacking. EU was always way more strict than NA.
This video was great and I appreciate the time and effort you put into it. I was 10 when I first started to play this game, this is where I met my first online friend on, I remember begging my mom for a nexon game card so I could afford and buy Mei because I though she looked so cool. As soon as I got it after months of begging I got Mei and told my friend about it. We quickly made a youtube video where we made a line of mines blow up across wave rider. Complete waste of time and took us like 2 hours but man did I have a blast with him. We became good friends but we lost contact with each other once the game started dying out. Not trying to promote our video but it was "The Biggest Explosion on Waverider - COMBAT ARMS". I am tearing up just thinking about it, such good times.

I remember playing back in 2008 on an old laptop. Around 2010/2011 I started climbing up the ladder and stayed in and around the top 50 and then moved onto killing zombie hordes and finally quit the game in 2013 as the rage kick became so toxic that I was forced to play worse in order to stay.
2:40 Yah that's true. In the year 2013 glitching was one of the main reasons people got banned pretty quickly and Nexon patched all the buggs people found. Overdose is a good example of that, because is one of the early maps that got patched alot. But now getting a high rank means nothing, because you can get pretty much everything at the beggining. I cried when I was a child to get an m32 in the game, but now I can get it for free.
I started playing CA when I was in school and pretty much started playing when the gold age of the game started to end. At the beggining I didn't glitch, because I was scared of lossing my account (before getting a high rank meant something at least). I loved playing eli pro meele games with my kukri and made some good friends over there... still remember how happy I was of becoming an admin of one of the elite meelee clans of that time (order of chaos). Anyways, they patched the shifting and my kukri become pretty much useless against my pro friends with close range weapons and... thats when I started to glitch again.
For me glitching is funn, because I can get to places that others havent touched yet... But I know some people abuse of them to win. For example, camping in a glitch spot with auto turrets in QR. In conclussion, glitching is morally wrong, but personally I like it. Funny thing is that even when I don't glitch and try to play fairly in elimination or eli pro, elites kick me for getting a good score or killing him.
Good video, but I would add the value it had before getting to higher ranks, because only like that you could get better weapons without paying. And thats was one of the main reasons people didn't glitch with their main accounts or didn't even try to glitch at all for the fear of lossing all the hardwork.

Dude I remember this game was my life when I was 13-16 years old. It was so fun and made a bunch of friends on there. Literally played this game from the time I got home from school till it was bed time and repeat.

The most irritating thing was that you could never own weapons... All had to be rented for so many hours/days then you have to spend your pts to own it longer or if you buy the $25 nexon pts from 7/11 for a perma. I still remember when it was $5 or $10 worth of nexon point just to purchase a gun for a whole month.
Also the part where you get a few multi kills and already get called a hacker and reported lol.....

I remember spending countless hours of playing this game to the point of being one of the best players in the game, and being very anti-G36E. I love the original and how it was, but I think what started killing the game, as you and Baxstar said, was the uncontrolled hacking and giving permanent elite moderator to those that were, if I remember, Major and above. This essentially caused people to rage kick and even those that bought temporary elite did rage kicking. I had suffered so much with hackusations and kicks due to the fact I was just that good. Eventually I just started playing less and less and the hackusations without evidence basically created a reputation for me being a "known hacker".
If Nexon had a better anti-hack system I think the game would've lasted a lot longer like TF2 has. Now that they've combined servers together, last I heard, playing the game feels very unstable connection-wise and it destroys the experience of playing what used to be a great game of its time.

We used to see Nexon currency cards in our store, Advertisements for Combat Arms everywhere, All of our friends played and we met So many people (Who I dont know anymore sadly). I remember playing a bunch of quarantine, even with you Stiff. My old CA username was Rule1212. Kinda my last moments of this game was pissing off a hacker in quarantine, getting my account hacked by the same guy, then getting held for ransom. Least in those days, Nexon's cookie cutter message was "here are ways to secure your account" 9 months after the fact. Still salty about that but kinda just goes to show that stuff like hotmail and gmail (at least back then) was very insecure. But even then, I still have a lot of fond memories playing this game when I was younger. Sometimes I want to come play it again, but I know the servers are pretty much dead.

Played Nemesis HQ all day and i reached GOA in 2 month without Zero Kills after i cant remember my Password to my First Account which was COL3 i started to Play this in 2008 this was my fav childhood game even with annoying Hackers the Game was fun
IMO this game had the best Zombie mode in any game EVER. It got your heart pumping and actually took skill and was super challenging. I remember playing back in 2010 I'd say. Man those days were the best. I remember laughing so hard at some of the things me and some of my childhood friends got into.
I began playing Combat Arms with my three young teenage sons back in 2010. Man, we loved the game in its original state, when you couldn’t buy your way up, when you had to be a great player to level up, when the system wasn’t riddled with idiots hacking almost discriminately. We would spend hours in Junk Flea other great maps. The UI and graphics were good enough and simple to use. The ranking system worked as intended, so much so we idolized the guys at the top, some who had taken a couple of years to get there, without hacking or paying to level up. They were elite in the true sense of the word. Nexon owned the single player market and messed up by focusing on profit and not on the community that raised the game from nothing into a true classic at its climax. It saddens me I can’t return to the old game and enjoy it with the same fervor, because it’s not owned by a company who wants to build a community anymore. CA has become a relic, but at least my sons and I have great memories from when it was on top, and for that I’m thankful. It brought us together in ways only a father and son understands. I thank Greatfuldead and so many other brilliant players that made us strive to be better players.

I used to love quarantine so when i heard it was coming to VR i was hyped but this is not what i expected.
I started playing Combat Arms EU back in 2009. I agree with many of your points, but I‘d like to share my own problems that I had with CA.
-NA & EU imbalance - some modes rewarded different exp values across the 2 versions of the game.
-changes to HUD and UI. The 2009 UI was characteristic for combat arms, the new one only delivered bugs such as our beloved ,,ultla kill‘‘ from the dredge update.
-vertigo update gave every major 2 or above the elite moderator. Non EM lobbies were full of cheaters. However you were likely to get a kick if you killed the EM more than 2 times.
-balancing issues: I was fine playing against people with Sopmods and m416 cqb‘s, however I realized that nexon nerfed all these weapons just to bring them back as epic variants that were locked behind expensive nx cases (and rng)
IMO the game was at it‘s best when it first released in 2009. I still remember when the black market first opened on ca eu. Only 2 mercenaries (Kamara &Zadan were available and they were cosmetics only. That also applied to the guns. Nexon soon realized that they can milk the cow to an absurd extent, which ultimately led to the end of Combat Arms.
I think it was like 10 years ago is when I started playing. It was so fun, even with the rage kicks and the hackers. I never cared about the pay-to-win because most players had dooky skills and needed the boost haha.

For me this game was something different. I got my first PC aged 12 in 2010. I started playing it until 2015. Met many friends through game that i meet irl now. Got so many memories, talked to so many different people, been in many different clans. When i look back at this time i see it as adventure. Game wasnt best in the world. But for me its #1 in whole life forever.

Once they started adding the extremely fast vests and masks to have your speed at like +35 it just ruined Quarantine. Plus the zombie health buff. I miss this game so much but when I get back on to play its just terrible..

My old account was Armyboy1911 back in 2008 till 2011. I remember when players accused me of hacking when in reality those guys just sucked ass. I hated the Elites because I always kicked there assess and they get butt hurt.
I remember having fun playing Quarantine, and using the AK-47 and the SCAR-L and the M4A1. I really managed at times using the crappy M16A3 in good use. Ah I miss playing this game. Also I always remember running and shooting at the tower hitting them somehow and always destroying the players mines.

Kinda miss this game put 9 years of my life into it 12+ hours a day , i barely slept. It is true though towards the end before i left , there were atleast 2 obvious hackers in each match. You could really only play elite mod rooms, which you did get kicked 90% of the time.Not to mention they got rid of their only semi safe server(Black Market), The game started becoming more and more pay to win. Their customer service was getting terrible, it was taking up to 3 years for some people to get a response with an automated message.There was also huge decline due to ui changes, bugs and, lag. Last but not least they started mass banning people thousands a month , half of them being legit(Bans based off crazy stats). Kinda wish it still had a decent playerbase and community, met so many people in CA ill neve forget. Thanks for the nostalgia, and bringing back some of my memories of ca.

I've been playing for about a week and a half now after a multiple year break and JESUS man. Everyone is running around with special p90s that do like 45 damage when originally they do 35, everyone is spamming turrets and fire grenades. It really is fun, but if you aren't in the loop or aren't interested in throwing any money you're probably gonna get your ass kicked for a little bit until you get a feel for the game.
combat arms was the first game i played. i started in 08 or 09 and played as much as possible until i quit around 2014. i stopped playing mostly due to hackers. i still havent found a game that was as fun as CA was before it went downhill. i dont know what it is but nothing else captures the same fun as CA did
Quar was such a unique experience, though I’ve gotten kicked for free running and for getting ultras and unbelievables. I’ve been playing titanfall 2 now because the movement system is amazing and fun as hell once you progress
You should give hyper scape a go if you're into movements. It's a new game but the movement in that game is pretty nutty.

My reason I quit CA is because of the toxic community that are online these days. The amount of times I got rage kicked isn’t even countable anymore. In the OG times the community was fun, but nowadays it’s just straight out trash!

This used to be my most played fps game back then. I would hop on after school and play.
I'll add 1 thing. Mines and Auto Turrets in elimination mode, search and destroy mode killed Combat Arms too, you cant even move on the map without getting shot in the back with auto turrets, 80% of the servers are full of mine and auto turret users and all u do is shooting turrets and mines then get shot in the back by a player whos hiding near auto turret. Or you can shoot people and get killed by auto turret or mines. Also there's a huge netcode issue, bullet reg issue, screen reg issue, aah and yes of course glitcehrs who's camping and killing everybody because nobody can shoot them.
Hackers, Pay2Win aspects, and Rage Kicking GMs was the disgusting reasons that made me quit. Had fun during the golden years of this game, but now there are other F2P shooters that do its job better. But for 2008, this was the shit.

Way back when I used to play WarRock it had the same issue. The main difference is that people would actually be cheating so hard that they had cheats that would just make the vote kick system not work. The votes could be 100% in favour of kicking the cheater and they would just stay.

Very true. I played it years ago and got okay at it, and it was super fun cuz poeple would talk to eachother and we could learn form eachother. I instaled it again today and keep in mind im a really low rank. I would get kicked off for hacking beacuse i would get a lucky two kills or so. Also I could barely move cuz people just camp and snipe and i cant even move at all. And the money thing with buying guns and stuff really makes a difference. I can cause so little damage and they have these crazy guns ive never seen. So idk...i do miss the way people wold act in the game. It was a lot more fun.
