Well, this was timely. I've really been struggling today. My brain had *almost* convinced me to do the thing that I've been trying not to do. I feel a bit stronger now.
this song is so devastating. as a former gifted kid who struggled every day while in college (at Mizzou!), I feel this so dang much. thank you for your reaction video
as someone who has never seen the long pond sessions and am just enjoying your taylor playlist - when jack said "you have no idea how hard it was to get to a place where YOU STILL THINK IS SHITTY" i fully had to stop and revel in that. bc wow is it true
It might take a while for the Swifties to watch anything not TTPD and the Anthology. We watch reactions to bring back aspects of that first time feeling, but we're all immersed in our first reaction and fathoming meanings, lyrics, bridges, and musical elements. LOVE your reactions and the depth
I can honestly say as someone who has finally found the courage to admit that I have been diagnosed mental health issues, this song hit me hard! This couldn't be a more perfect song for all of the people who are misunderstood or discriminated against, or made to feel like nobody's, like you're a worthless waste of oxygen on Earth. Whether it's like Taylor said, "addiction, alcoholism, or mental illness, or even some other disability, nobody sees that you're trying you're hardest to make people see & understand!" If someone would just be able to switch lives with someone who is going through any of these things they wouldn't treat any of us, or judge us for being the way we are! It's easy for someone that doesn't have to live with these issues to talk down upon all of us who are living it 24/7/365! This song is a perfect song for the soundtrack of all of us afflicted with any of these conditions. I'm making this my personal theme song for what I live every single second of every day & night. I know there's going to be many, many more folks that do the same thing! I hope my words fall upon some other people living with any of these issues to be able to stand up, to speak up, to not be afraid anymore, let everyone know I'm trying & I AM WORTHY!!! None of us asks to have these problems, conditions, or whatever you call the battles that pertain to your life. We all want to be able to live a normal life as much as the next person & we deserve to be able to do so freely without judgment, without shame, without fear, without doubt, or without self worth!!! We are human beings too! I want to personally thank Taylor Swift for this song & also thank her for having the compassion & heart to understand what battle we face each & every new day that dawns! No one feels the agony that we feel with every hurtful word of negativity & judgment! We need more people like Taylor who will stand up & speak out about these things. I've just begun to not be afraid to speak about my personal battles but I want to be a beacon of light to help someone else gain the strength & courage to stand up & not be afraid to admit their own personal battle!!! I want to help be a positive educator on how to not feel like you're not good enough or that you don't try to be better everyday! Thank you once again Taylor. You don't know just how much I appreciate you for writing & singing this song & I know others will as well!!! ❤
Taylor has so many friends in music, movies and modelling - sure she's met quite a few with addictions which would make sense for her to be thinking about how they would be coping during the stir crazy times of lockdowns
@@d_nerys @xoxoxANGExoxox yes, plus Aaron himself suffers from depression and when she was working on Red (song: forever winter) she found out a very good friend of hers from HS who suffered from depression unalived himself, so she really treats the subject of mental health with the utmost respect and tenderness whenever she addresses it. Epiphany is also another great example of this.
Just so you know! This man she is speaking to is Jack Antonoff, a close friend of Taylor's, a musical artist in his own right, and her favorite producer to work with... Almost all the times you've been like "WHO did this BEAT?!" it's been Jack Antonoff 😊
This song helped me through the time I was battling sobriety and trying to find my place in both worlds of friends who drink and being alienated for not drinking. It was hard. I’m so thankful for this song.
one of my favorites, especially since it dropped during Covid. I think this song is important for a lot of people. Brutal, but makes you feel less alone in the struggle.
This is deep rewatching this after she released “Fortnight”. She was absolutely talking about herself. Not just “someone”. She mentions her drinking several times in the new albums.
I LOVE your reviews and mannerisms I’m cracking up over here. I was talking back and answering you without you even knowing we had a full blown convo lol
April 2024 - TTPD & The Anthology album/s & the video for the 1st single Fortnight has been released - now we know the depths of Taylor’s own personal despair - this was a song about her ! 😢
Probably my favorite off of Folklore, though the best part of this song is the comments I see from people who say it's helped/helping them through a dark time. So boo on the naysayers who would call Taylor's music garbage.
If you want another song by her with a similar theme check out Forever Winter. Its the pov of someone reacting to finding out someone close to them has been suicidal.
To me, the line "could have followed my fears all the way down" is an eerily beautiful way to say/talk about/refer to self-unsubscribing. (Only censoring in case youtube gets mad about that word in comments too).
AB, did you recognize the gentlemen she was talking to and who is playing piano from your bejeweled reaction video as the Prince Taylor ghosted? lol Easter Eggs my fellow swifty...lol
Ok... so in the past 24 hours ive watched all of your TS videos... and i have a suggestion... please do Everything has Changed (Taylor Swift feat. Ed Sheetan) and The Joker and The Queen (Ed Sheetan feat. Taylor Swift) music videos. The music videos are connected and I'd love to see your reaction and hear your thoughts on it!!!

Much love to you!
@@ABtheKreator Thank you, friend!
Stay strong 💪 prayers to you. I struggled today too
Sending you so much strength and light.
Depression lies, friend. just keep trying.
My first time hearing this song...made me cry. "Not driving off the cliff is the ultimate trying." Truth.
this song is so devastating. as a former gifted kid who struggled every day while in college (at Mizzou!), I feel this so dang much. thank you for your reaction video
Her radical empathy is one of her greatest gifts!
This song saved my life twice ❤❤
Ahhhh this is one of my most loved by her. ❤ April 24th will be my 12th year sober! Dear to my heart Taylor. Thanks AB And your patron person!
Congratulations!!!!!
as someone who has never seen the long pond sessions and am just enjoying your taylor playlist - when jack said "you have no idea how hard it was to get to a place where YOU STILL THINK IS SHITTY" i fully had to stop and revel in that. bc wow is it true
YOu're absolutely right. It's the thought behind the songs that really set her apart.
Good things generally happen when you open your heart and mind to the struggles that are not even your own.
Alchemy and So High School got shout outs to The Kingdom and Trav!
Yes!!! Let’s hear it AB!!! 🎉🎉🎉

This one hits hard. I've been there, in my car, wondering if I should drive into the lake... I backed up and went back to the grind.

Taylor has struggled with eating disorder and alcoholism herself.

AB Thank You for this reaction and your words just before she sings were spot on and speaks to why she is special!!
She sounds like an Angel
As a person with a drinking problem this one hits home spent my first year sober pouring out my heart to strangers in church basements

Yes, she hid a lot on folklore/evermore under the guise of “fiction”
😢
This is one of my top 5 fave songs ever, it’s heartbreakingly beautiful and I relate so hard to it.
LOVED THIS!!!
Great reaction. Thank you.
She is Brilliant!
I LOVE your reviews and mannerisms I’m cracking up over here. I was talking back and answering you without you even knowing we had a full blown convo lol
I’ve always loved this one! Her lyrics are so on point-every time!
One of my favorites!!
