When I started this podcast, the main reason was to release the interviews I had done with cast members of The Andy Griffith Show back in the late 1990's. This interview with Jim Nabors is the last of those interviews. I had been keeping this one in my pocket for a special occasion and finally thought it was time. Jim Nabors performed "Back Home Again in Indiana" his past weekend for the final time at the Indianapolis 500 after having begun the tradition of him singing it back in 1972. That seems like a special occasion to me.
This interview was done on September 5, 1998 at Governor's Palace in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. My wife and I were able to arrange to go back stage before his performance to get this interview. It was a wonderful experience and he put us at ease right off the bat.
I know you're going to enjoy it.

What a wonderful man. You can tell he had a genuine heart and spirit of love and respect for everyone. He seemed to be a very grounded person who never let his fame go to his head. Great stuff Allan.

Gomer wouldn't have gotten very far if he had gone into politics. He is way too honest! Never have heard Mr. Nabors say a negative word about anybody. Wonderful interview.

Interesting at 18:00 that he wished he could appreciate heavy metal music. I thought he once did a heavy metal version of the Impossible Dream with Black Sabbath on his variety show.
