- Take a video tour of the Deering Banjo Factory - located in Spring Valley, CA - and see how Deering Goodtime banjos are made by hand in America.
Background music is provided by John McEuen - entitled "The Goodtime Suite".
I got a Goodtime four days ago (my first banjo). It's a swell little instrument. An absolute joy to play and I couldn't be any more pleased with it. Sadly, it didn't come with any playing skills. Guess I got to do that on my own.
Recently purchased a left handed goodtime 2. Absolutely love it. It far surpassed my expectations. Thank you Deering for making lefties and great banjo's.
Impressive! Hard to fathom the demand for that many banjos. Very cool!
I've been clawhammering for over five years now. My first banjo was an open-back Goodtime. Although I've accumulated more expensive and different-sounding banjos, I still bring out my blond-mapled "Marilyn" to play as much as the others. She sings with a straight, clear, old-time voice.
Thank you, Deering, for getting me started on the right foot!
Nothing beats watching this with a goodtime in hand
Man besides PLAYING banjo for a living, getting to set up, tune, and quality control for Deering would be THE DREAM!!! THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HARD WORK!!!
Thanks Deering - I love my Goodtime !

I've have a good time beginners banjo arriving in two days, can't wait.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video enormously.
Much appreciated from across the pond.
Watching your video so I can try to needle felt 1 like it. Thank you for posting this
These banjos are a work of art, I saw and played one at a music store, now I have to own a Deering Banjo. Thanks for the wonderful tour.
My Goodtime plays like my Fender Strat, the maple neck is just buttery smooth.
As a former Fender employee, I LOVE hearing this. Very cool. :-)
Do you know how high is the action at the 12th fret ?
If you get the chance, take the Deering tour. It is great and you get the chance to try out a lot of banjos in the showroom. There is a Burger King right next door. Hard to get out of there without another banjo though. I've got three so far, but really liked the White Oak banjo when I was there. Maybe next time I visit San Diego.
Glad you had fun! Although, I have to correct you - It is a Carls Jr which at least in my opinion, is a far superior burger. :-)
"There is a Burger King right next door." You can't get more American than that!
I ordered a good time recently, ordered the beginner package. Recently enough to where I haven't got it yet. It's pretty awesome to see how these banjos are made and I can't wait to start learning to play!
It's awesome to see how it's
just ordered my fist banjo the Goodtime Artisan Americana 12" rim, beautiful instrument for sure, i cannot wait to try it out!
Very impressive, almost unamerican. Cudos to Mr. Deering.
This is so cool
Thank you for watching!
I've got a Goodtime Americana and I wouldn't trade it for anyrhing. I've played on others, even higher end Deering Banos and I'd still not trade my Americana. Just love it!
IV got a good time 2 that I made my own with a few changes for old time music. It will hang with the best.
I just got my Goodtime today and I'm in LOVE !!! I appreciate all your skilled work to create such a fine instrument :-)Thank you Deering! :-)
Great video! Really like the fret trimming station. Looks like you automated a pair of hand nippers.
my kind of thinkers
i believe you are correct
Enjoyed that - first job was making banjos.
Lovely video, love the Deering
Love mine!
Can’t believe you can offer such a high quality banjo at the price point you hit. I love my Goodtime Special.
I played a couple Goodtime Specials. I liked them better than the Good Time. The specials had tone rings. If I were looking for a banjo in that price range, the special would be my pick.
Thank you Deering. Just got my Good Time 2 yesterday.
Me too! Loving it!
Love Deering banjos.
Greg, Absolutely love my Solana Six. I am a fingerstyle guitar player and every style I play really works with this instrument. I have showed it to several other fingerstyle guitar players who either bought one or are in the process of saving the cash for one. Really believe if you marketed to guitarist that finger pick you'd really sell a million of these.
I'll post a nice review on my channel when I get some time
Todd, we cant wait to see your review. I will pass your comments on to Greg. We thank you for your kind words and we really look forward to your review.
Great banjo! I love mine!
My old Goodtime was unfortunately exposed to extreme humidity over time and ruined it. I planning buy another one and take real good care of it. :)
Great video and better banjos! MADE IN THE USA!!!
Gonna purchase my first banjo this week, i guess i couldny get a better one than the Goodtime 5 string banjo. I'm happy they're still available here in UK, and excited like never! :)
Good choice!
Thank you for posting the video. How many man hours go into making a banjo?
at 4:30 is that an electric ratchet to tighten the J hooks? never knew that was an option?!
Awesome.
Hi from New Zealand,

Deering makes the best banjos.
the automated fret nippers are awesome!
They are foot controlled. They are very cool.
I got one of the concert ukes and thought that it was funny they do not mask the frets before spraying the one token coat of laquer Could you imagine masking all those frets.
