I just bought a 2018 4Runner TRD Off Road for 28k with a lift and 100k miles. Zero rattles or sounds. Engine hums. I put the Shiftpower SP26 per Jon advice and the power on the pedal is perfect at 25%. I'll drive this for the next 10 years.
Nothing is and I truly feel that the first car manufacturer to do better will take the market. All new vehicles are plastic and have issues. It’s getting rather annoying.
Mercedes did this decades ago and Toyota took the reliability crown. If you look at the Data, BMW is rising fast. Who knows they might be the unexpected comeback kid.
Jon, I believe I found the culprit of the sound you're hearing in your ear. For me, I kept hearing this sound in my left ear that sounded like tinging metal. Pulled off door panel, made sure bolts were tight and everything else was tight. Put door panel back on and heard it ever slightly still. After investigating more, I stuck a crumbled/folded receipt between top of driver's door panel and the metal, it has gone away. I believe it has something to do with the channel that holds the door panel in not being tight enough so it rattles the tin right under area. I will be happy to email you a picture if you want to see it. Thank you for the videos and knowledge!
Yup. My 2008 sequoia 5.7L is WAAAAY more comfortable and better built than the new tundra and sequoia. They feel like cheap pos vehicles. But my 2025 Camry seems amazing.
I owned a previous generation Tundra for 10 years and I feel like it's mostly the same plastics in my new Tacoma. My Tundra was actually way more creeky. It was my only complaint with it.
I bought a new 22 tundra and my wife a new 22 4runner 3 years back. There is no comparison in build quality and materials between these 2 vehicles. The ticking time bomb tundra i got rid of recently and the 4runner we'll keep forever.
I have the 1958 and I accepted all of these same issues as “normal.” I did report the brakes to my dealer at my 10k service. I also assumed the seatbelt creak and door creaks were a by product of the reassembly ppf process Another thing I have an issue with is the inverter sound when over 1800w. It sounds like an airplane. Happens when I charger my bluetti battery or use an induction water heater. I’m enjoying the video and I appreciate you holding them accountable. As my first Toyota, I’m impressed with the LC.
The brake issue is a known issue that they do have a fix for. Did it with my GX550. They will want to diagnose it but if they can’t duplicate it they can’t order the parts. With a good video, they will. I did this and the parts took two weeks to come in, one day to fix. That same bulletin is out from Lexus for the GX. I’ll e-mail it to you to post if you like. Mine was also squealing while moving forward in slow traffic. No problems since the fix.
Greatly appreciate you helping to work out all the bugs for the rest of us. I’ll wait a couple of years before buying a cruiser or 4Runner (still deciding) with the hopes that Toyota corrects everything by then. Thanks for taking one for the team Jon! You are the man!!
Hmm, 2025 Land Cruiser 250 owner here, no break squeals yet here, ill keep an ear out for the window noise nothing yet here. Overall super impressive with the overall quality. I haven't heard anything rattling, my lc was made in tahara factory, no ticking noise on the doors but ill keep my ear out for it. But i wonder if they addressed some of these issues Edit: that is an awesome pressure washer set up!
I just went in for my 5k service on my GX 550 and I haven't had any issues whatsoever including rattles on my 550. I guess it's true that the Tahara plant where the GX is built is stricter than the Hamura plant where most LCs are built.
Yes please any service bulletin info would be appreciated. My GX 550 overtrail does it every time I back out of the driveway dealer could not replicate. I asked if there was a tsb. And didn’t really get an answer.

Toyota’s have never had that great of quality in the trim parts, rattles, etc. They were never premium vehicles, rather reliable with solid chassis and mechanicals. It’s only when they start charging premium prices that people really expect better quality, understandably. Yours looks a lot better than stock with those wheels. Toyota can never seen to sell a bone stock vehicle that looks good without some aftermarket upgrades.
And the thing is they pride themselves on the aftermarket community too. And I do agree they are not the premium brand, but these are premium prices now . There should be a standard met.
I got the LC in underground and man is that reverse brake noise annoying. Thanks for bringing it to Toyota’s attention as it definitely needs to be fixed asap.
2024 Land Cruiser 6000 miles. No issues with mine. I think that your model was some of the first ones to be build. The issues you are having have been resolved with my lc. You’ll probably get plenty of views though.

If you move the seats all the way back and all the way forward the memory seats will work! On my LC. The only fit and finish problem is from the ac control panel is a little too loose for my liking but isn’t bad by any stretch.
Brake noise is a harmonic. Nothing is wrong with it but it is an annoyance. Dealership can’t fix it. Toyota needs to change pad chamfers or shims on the pads. I know because it was my job… they might throw grease on the back of the pads as a temporary solution.

when the dodge magnum first came out my dad had ordered and received the first hemi in our state. It had so many ticky-tacky issues he sold it after like 60 days lol. Loose dash, rattles all over, loose headlight, and it wouldn't shift into gear one day. Granted that was a dodge lolol
Yeah, my Sequoia TRD PRO feels very cheap... But not so cheap... I'm glad you're speaking on these issues like Untamed to get Toyota on notice and being quality back...
The thing is, as expensive as these vehicles are for the regular folks, the companies like Toyota don't consider them to be luxury vehicles with purchasers that demand high quality. It's just another truck for Toyota, and like any company they exist to make as much money as possible.
My dads 2006 4runner had the same issues with his brakes for years. The dealership couldn't figure it out. It doesn't make that noise anymore. Maybe because of its age or the fact it has been in three accidents. Great video though. I think for road trips, you should consider the Sienna as it is quieter than this and can accommodate your entire family bertter.
My 2007 FJ Cruiser does the same thing and has for years even when I installed new brakes, happens first thing in the am when I back out of my garage, I just live with it. Am waiting for my new LC.
Made in Japan has slowly turned into Made in Japan "with global materials". I was at the Toyota dealer last month picking up some parts, parts that used to say "made in USA or "made in Japan" now say Mexico and China. Toyota parts made in China.....profits over quality.

lol, I’m seeing into the future…yes, the vision is getting clearer…a long wait while your vehicle sits on the dealer lot resolved by “unable to replicate” and “we couldn’t hear anything” as absolutely nothing is done about any of this.
I worked at Honda for 16 years. Sometimes we got complaints about noises/rattles that I couldn't even hear. Even if you hear it then you have to find the screw that was dropped in the instrument panel during production.
For the memory seat you have to move the seat forward and back to the max recline up and down to the max and raise up and down to the max. Mine did it too. It’s apparently just to calibrate it
Totally correct for the money paid it should operate correctly and smoothly. No exceptions. Your like me. Very detailed on maintenance down to the tire pressure and clean under the hood always.

power seat wont program because it needs homed, move seat all the way to either front or back, then all the way in the opposite direction, your door program buttons should work after. had to do with my 24 RAV4, seen on another video somewhere looking how to set seat memory. not sure why the seats beep moving tho, also my RAV4 was a japan model with a J VIN.
Ours has the brake squeak in reverse, but I just chocked it up to rust on the rotor from sitting/rain. It seems to go away after a short drive. Thankfully I haven't noticed any interior rattles after 5500 miles. Just some wind noise I associate with a boxy truck. That door rattle is annoying though. But I gotta feel for the tech that's going to spend two days on this and probably earn 0.8 warranty hours.
Lol, it's -20c where I live, and I have 2024 tacoma trd off-road, and my dash makes all kinds of noises. But when it's warm outside I don't here nothing lol
That sound even I get it. It is purely a design. Check out the Windscreen Vertically Rubber beading. There is a hollow dip midway and these at both sides. The Air flow when driving creates a ripple and sound comes out. This is at 70mph+
My 24 4runner trd off road premium has a rattle in the dash somewhere near the infotainment center. Our 24 Tacoma trd sport premium has no rattles at all. One made in Japan and one made in Mexico....go figure.
Thank you for addressing creaks and rattles. I’ve been wanting to switch to Toyota (for “better quality”) to avoid them, they’ve driven me crazy on past vehicles! Hoping to hear the dealership can fix them.
About a year and a half ago, I bought a brand new Lexus NX350, and yes I know those are assembled here in Ontario (not Japan), but I believed in the Toyota quality so I made the purchase. At the time, it was the first model of the new NX. After spending a year with the car, and having numerous quality issues with squeaks and rattles everywhere (I even discovered that my roof liner clips were loose and broken, the dealer had to replace the entire thing under warranty) I decided to get rid of it. It just didn’t feel great quality to be honest, interior plastics were just average, and we are talking about a Lexus here. I traded in for a Hyundai and couldn’t be happier - MUCH cheaper, great warranty, decent quality, no rattles or issues so far, no need to wait months to get one 😅, and frankly, Hyundais have been just as reliable recently. I feel like Toyota has been surfing on their “reliability” and “quality” wave for a long time but now other manufacturers have caught up.
I'd just tell the dealer to watch the video, give it a thumbs up and subscribe. That'll give them a heads up on issues the other owners may also be experiencing.
I have the same sound from my brakes when I put this thing in reverse. I brought it to the dealership they heard the sound, but they said there was no service bulletin so nothing we can do. I raised a case with Toyota and they said the same thing. If they resolve it Jon, please let us know on the channel.
The last car I bought was a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. I bought it with 100k miles. Still runs fine. Not perfect. Cost me barely $9k cash. Don’t care if it’s perfect. But old and have less stress
My Supra brakes do the same when I am reversing, it’s so loud, It sounds like a horn. It got better as the brake wore down but it’s still there after 20k miles.
Its the material they use on the brakes. If you don't use heavy friction and just slowly press it that friction will turn into noise. Gotta keep the shit clean bro, use them more.

Jon - have you or anyone else with a 2024 Land Cruiser first edition heard any squeaks or rattles with the center console lid? In the middle back portion of the lid, I can push down with my finger and get it to creek as if it is cracked internally, and two pieces of plastic are rubbing up against each other. It also happens when you lightly lay your elbow on it. My dealer is fighting me tooth and nail to replace it. Thoughts?

Plus they are going to replace all of the rear plastic cargo panels top and bottom because they continuously pop out. I also constantly lose connection to my iPhone/Siri and my head unit goes dark from time to time. Not sure if anyone has had that issue or you have heard of those as well.
My 4Runner is going on 12 years old with 185k miles, and I don't have that kind of rattles. That's just unacceptable for any new vehicle, never mind one that's nearly $80,000.
My 24' ORP 4runner has a creak over some bumps in the passenger A pillar. The stealership tells me they can't replicate the problem, of course. I'm sure you will get treated like a real human being since your satisfaction matters to them.
I had a 2008 Toyota Corolla S that whistled from the same area you're hearing your howling from when doing 65mph or higher, especially when windy. Never figured out what it was. Recently sold the car. Sad to see Toyota taking so much quality hits. Did they abandon Kaizen?
Lexus GX brakes are the same. They have a fix but huge waitlist. As far as creaks and rattles our GX has been silent. I think that’s what you get with Toyota vs Lexus
lol my 2021 Tundra made that same brake noise when I backed out after a few weeks not driving it. It goes away after some driving. My 06 Sequoia has that wind noise on highway but only at 75 mph. The noise goes away if I drive below or above that. Really weird.
the seat needs to be 'calibrated' just move it forward all the way, all the way back, all the way down, then up, and then recline all the way forward and then back and it's good to go
Very nice vehicle but such a silly price Toyota is asking for it. Not so sure about those wheels they sorta of look like the generic styles you see hanging in the display area of local discount tire shop but it all comes down to personal preference so have at it. Certainly hope you get all of your creaks and rattles sorted at the dealer and the vehicle continues to perform well for you.
Sounds like metalic brake pads grabbing the pad corners. Change to Ceramic pads or shave the edges of the metalic pads and go from their. Just a thought and a suggestion, not the answer. 👋 😊
There is a GX that lives down the street from me and i can always hear it backing out and leaving 🥴. Hope if and when i get my LC250 it doesn't do the same.
@@walawala-fo7ds sure it'd be nice to have access to all the different combinations and features but the grass is always greener as they say. We get 4R and GX while other markets get neither. Some markets get diesels, we dont, but we get hybrids, full time 4wd etc and they dont. Kinda a cake and eat it too type situation.

No, no I agree with you John, these things are way too expensive to have creeks and rattles my Corolla hybrid, which is a 2024 is completely solid and devoid of any noises and it only cost $24,000.
I hate squeaks and rattles too. This vehicle is far too expensive to have them. My 2019 Silverado has no issues whatsoever and Chevy is not known to have the quality of Toyota.

I have the exact same vehicle and same color. I have the same exact break squeel as do two other owners that I know. I'm very confident that Toyota will formulate a remedy in due time and not a day too soon. My roof rack does have wind noise associated with it but I knew that it would when I saw it (as did our Sequoia did too) I haven't noticed the seat belt rattle yet but I always have tunes going so I would never hear it anyway. As far as the wind noise in front of the windshield, maybe it's that grate on the cowl??? wind off the wiper arm??? vertical windshield???? Let us know if you get a remedy 👍

@@TRDJon Nissan frontiers pretty much the same old f alpha box frame it's been since 2005. Similar VQ v6. They don't rattle they are solid trucks.

Not going to lie new Toyotas feel cheap. My 5th gen feels so much more solid than the new Tacoma and tundra. Too much plastic and cheap material

Seatbelt is connected to the B pillar. I feel the same way about rattles.

The thing is, as expensive as these vehicles are for the regular folks, the companies like Toyota don't consider them to be luxury vehicles with purchasers that demand high quality. It's just another truck for Toyota, and like any company they exist to make as much money as possible.
My dads 2006 4runner had the same issues with his brakes for years. The dealership couldn't figure it out. It doesn't make that noise anymore. Maybe because of its age or the fact it has been in three accidents. Great video though. I think for road trips, you should consider the Sienna as it is quieter than this and can accommodate your entire family bertter.
My 2007 FJ Cruiser does the same thing and has for years even when I installed new brakes, happens first thing in the am when I back out of my garage, I just live with it. Am waiting for my new LC.
Made in Japan has slowly turned into Made in Japan "with global materials". I was at the Toyota dealer last month picking up some parts, parts that used to say "made in USA or "made in Japan" now say Mexico and China. Toyota parts made in China.....profits over quality.

lol, I’m seeing into the future…yes, the vision is getting clearer…a long wait while your vehicle sits on the dealer lot resolved by “unable to replicate” and “we couldn’t hear anything” as absolutely nothing is done about any of this.
I worked at Honda for 16 years. Sometimes we got complaints about noises/rattles that I couldn't even hear. Even if you hear it then you have to find the screw that was dropped in the instrument panel during production.
I showed video to the advisor on what the issues are. Hopefully they are fixed or at least documented.

For the memory seat you have to move the seat forward and back to the max recline up and down to the max and raise up and down to the max. Mine did it too. It’s apparently just to calibrate it

Totally correct for the money paid it should operate correctly and smoothly. No exceptions. Your like me. Very detailed on maintenance down to the tire pressure and clean under the hood always.

power seat wont program because it needs homed, move seat all the way to either front or back, then all the way in the opposite direction, your door program buttons should work after. had to do with my 24 RAV4, seen on another video somewhere looking how to set seat memory. not sure why the seats beep moving tho, also my RAV4 was a japan model with a J VIN.

Ours has the brake squeak in reverse, but I just chocked it up to rust on the rotor from sitting/rain. It seems to go away after a short drive. Thankfully I haven't noticed any interior rattles after 5500 miles. Just some wind noise I associate with a boxy truck. That door rattle is annoying though. But I gotta feel for the tech that's going to spend two days on this and probably earn 0.8 warranty hours.
Lol, it's -20c where I live, and I have 2024 tacoma trd off-road, and my dash makes all kinds of noises. But when it's warm outside I don't here nothing lol

That sound even I get it. It is purely a design. Check out the Windscreen Vertically Rubber beading. There is a hollow dip midway and these at both sides. The Air flow when driving creates a ripple and sound comes out. This is at 70mph+
Just got my GX 550 in for second oil change and had same problem with brakes . Pads and rotors were replace and squeaking is gone.
My 24 4runner trd off road premium has a rattle in the dash somewhere near the infotainment center. Our 24 Tacoma trd sport premium has no rattles at all. One made in Japan and one made in Mexico....go figure.
Thank you for addressing creaks and rattles. I’ve been wanting to switch to Toyota (for “better quality”) to avoid them, they’ve driven me crazy on past vehicles! Hoping to hear the dealership can fix them.

About a year and a half ago, I bought a brand new Lexus NX350, and yes I know those are assembled here in Ontario (not Japan), but I believed in the Toyota quality so I made the purchase. At the time, it was the first model of the new NX.
After spending a year with the car, and having numerous quality issues with squeaks and rattles everywhere (I even discovered that my roof liner clips were loose and broken, the dealer had to replace the entire thing under warranty) I decided to get rid of it. It just didn’t feel great quality to be honest, interior plastics were just average, and we are talking about a Lexus here.
I traded in for a Hyundai and couldn’t be happier - MUCH cheaper, great warranty, decent quality, no rattles or issues so far, no need to wait months to get one 😅, and frankly, Hyundais have been just as reliable recently. I feel like Toyota has been surfing on their “reliability” and “quality” wave for a long time but now other manufacturers have caught up.
I get it, the brake squeal is annoying. But if that’s the only issue?? I take mine in this week for its first inspection and will mention the brakes
I'd just tell the dealer to watch the video, give it a thumbs up and subscribe. That'll give them a heads up on issues the other owners may also be experiencing.

I have the same sound from my brakes when I put this thing in reverse. I brought it to the dealership they heard the sound, but they said there was no service bulletin so nothing we can do. I raised a case with Toyota and they said the same thing. If they resolve it Jon, please let us know on the channel.
The last car I bought was a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. I bought it with 100k miles. Still runs fine. Not perfect. Cost me barely $9k cash. Don’t care if it’s perfect. But old and have less stress
My Supra brakes do the same when I am reversing, it’s so loud, It sounds like a horn. It got better as the brake wore down but it’s still there after 20k miles.
Its the material they use on the brakes. If you don't use heavy friction and just slowly press it that friction will turn into noise. Gotta keep the shit clean bro, use them more.
Toyota went way down market in the materials they use . It shows with the way they feel and look .

On my LC. The only fit and finish problem is from the ac control panel is a little too loose for my liking but isn’t bad by any stretch.
My brakes also squeak… Make it. STAAHP

The squeaking brakes and driver seat belt rattle also happens in my 2005 4runner with 230k miles xD
Jon - have you or anyone else with a 2024 Land Cruiser first edition heard any squeaks or rattles with the center console lid? In the middle back portion of the lid, I can push down with my finger and get it to creek as if it is cracked internally, and two pieces of plastic are rubbing up against each other. It also happens when you lightly lay your elbow on it. My dealer is fighting me tooth and nail to replace it. Thoughts?

@ thanks for the reply Jon. I honestly think it is cracked internally. I have your exact vehicle and I have the rear brake squeaking issue. Plus they are going to replace all of the rear plastic cargo panels top and bottom because they continuously pop out. I also constantly lose connection to my iPhone/Siri and my head unit goes dark from time to time. Not sure if anyone has had that issue or you have heard of those as well.
My 4Runner is going on 12 years old with 185k miles, and I don't have that kind of rattles. That's just unacceptable for any new vehicle, never mind one that's nearly $80,000.

My 24' ORP 4runner has a creak over some bumps in the passenger A pillar.
The stealership tells me they can't replicate the problem, of course.

My daughter’s 2020 Corolla makes the same brake noise after sitting in the rain for a day. Not that uncommon with many vehicles.
I had a 2008 Toyota Corolla S that whistled from the same area you're hearing your howling from when doing 65mph or higher, especially when windy. Never figured out what it was. Recently sold the car. Sad to see Toyota taking so much quality hits. Did they abandon Kaizen?
Lexus GX brakes are the same. They have a fix but huge waitlist. As far as creaks and rattles our GX has been silent. I think that’s what you get with Toyota vs Lexus
Sounds like you have issues with slight noises. The world isn’t in a vacuum.
lol my 2021 Tundra made that same brake noise when I backed out after a few weeks not driving it. It goes away after some driving. My 06 Sequoia has that wind noise on highway but only at 75 mph. The noise goes away if I drive below or above that. Really weird.
the seat needs to be 'calibrated' just move it forward all the way, all the way back, all the way down, then up, and then recline all the way forward and then back and it's good to go
Was your LC built at the Tahara or Hino plant?
Very nice vehicle but such a silly price Toyota is asking for it. Not so sure about those wheels they sorta of look like the generic styles you see hanging in the display area of local discount tire shop but it all comes down to personal preference so have at it. Certainly hope you get all of your creaks and rattles sorted at the dealer and the vehicle continues to perform well for you.

Sounds like metalic brake pads grabbing the pad corners. Change to Ceramic pads or shave the edges of the metalic pads and go from their. Just a thought and a suggestion, not the answer. 👋 😊

There is a GX that lives down the street from me and i can always hear it backing out and leaving 🥴. Hope if and when i get my LC250 it doesn't do the same.

Some markets get diesels, we dont, but we get hybrids, full time 4wd etc and they dont. Kinda a cake and eat it too type situation.

No, no I agree with you John, these things are way too expensive to have creeks and rattles my Corolla hybrid, which is a 2024 is completely solid and devoid of any noises and it only cost $24,000.

I hate squeaks and rattles too. This vehicle is far too expensive to have them. My 2019 Silverado has no issues whatsoever and Chevy is not known to have the quality of Toyota.

I have the same brake noise when i reverse and the same screeching sound from the windshield at the same spot you talked about in my 2024 lc250 and I'm gonna explain it to the dealership when i take it do the first oil service
I have the exact same vehicle and same color. I have the same exact break squeel as do two other owners that I know. I'm very confident that Toyota will formulate a remedy in due time and not a day too soon. My roof rack does have wind noise associated with it but I knew that it would when I saw it (as did our Sequoia did too) I haven't noticed the seat belt rattle yet but I always have tunes going so I would never hear it anyway. As far as the wind noise in front of the windshield, maybe it's that grate on the cowl??? wind off the wiper arm??? vertical windshield???? Let us know if you get a remedy 👍
