Artsy, cozy and nature loving. I have been doing exactly what you are describing both in my bedroom and my she shed. I've created an art space in my bedroom that I absolutely love. Lots of room to paint and draw with my desk right by the window. And my little shed is becoming a woodland cottage with candles, books and cozy blankets inside....and lots of trees I've planted outside the front door and windows. They are both very special places to me. I loved this episode and hearing about your space too!!

I've been struggling with settling in to the new place I've moved to since my husband died last year and you've given me the permission I needed to make it mine and not try to recreate how "we" had things. Thanks Margaret! I live in India half the year and in the USA the other half. I am so happy to hear you talk of India. I love the textiles here and the vibrant colours. I have been single for 7 years and nature, color and minimalism is my mantra.
A great video, today! It is like you read my mind. I just downsized from a 5 bedroom house to a small 2 bedroom house, and I love it. My kids moved out years ago and my husband died 9 years ago. Over the last 6 months I have gotten rid of so much stuff and am now decorating my new house the way I want. One of my words is Bohemian, like yours. I would also say eclectic and colourful. I too, love colour. And like you, everything in my house is now decorated to MY taste, not someone else’s. For years, I looked at art on the wall that I hated or photos of my husband’s family whom I never met. Then one day I decided to get rid of anything I did not like. It has been so liberating. I now have a wonderful bedroom, a study, an arts and crafts area, a music area, etc. Everything is a reflection of me. My new home makes me very happy.
I have lived alone (sort of- 1 dog and 2 cats) for 25 years and have never been happier! I have moved around alot and have found that as long I am surrounded by my books, music and pets, I don't need much else.
Whimsical, sentimental and colorful.
My style is a casual kind of elegance. I use my sterling flatware most days with a mix of plates and mugs/cups of many styles and colors. Most pieces of furniture in my home are basic casual decorated with pillows or throws that invite me to plop down with a cup of coffee or tea. No decorator matchy-matchy. I am in my 80’s so my home and clothes are filled with memories. 💕 Elaine
I am an eclectic decorator. I have a mix of aniiques and shabby chic with modern overtones..it is very pleasing to my soul. with lots of green plants.

Hi Margaret before I even moved in I enjoyed planting things that can live thru an Ohio winter: rhododendron, roses, azaleas, hydrangeas. Then I began painting the inside. The man that passed away was a heavy smoker. It doesn't cost much, and it's an act of love to be in my home at 62

My three words peaceful, red, simple cottage!
This is really interesting Margaret. When I lost my mum nearly three years ago now, I really lost my way and have never really bounced back. We were so close and lived together. I’m now along and moved house but the move hasn’t really worked too well. I’m 61 now and had taken early retirement to work part time then to care for mum, living on a small reduced pension from work until I’m 67. I now pick up what contracted work I can working remotely as I also have two little dogs. So, this is my first time ever living alone and in a house that is new to me. I seem to have a mish mash of furniture and bits and bobs which look even more ‘ odd ‘ as the furniture and curtains left by the previous owner and definitely not what I’d have chosen. Now, it’s not an option for me wot change anything but the strange thing is, I even find it hard to know what I would choose if I could. I’m the same with clothes. I used to love clothes and have a good dress sense when I was younger. Now, I seem to have what’s left but nothing goes with anything else and of course, we all change shape too so what I do have often doesn’t fit. I wonder of this tends to happen when life’s changes happen for us? I wonder what other 60 and me sisters here think and have experienced too?

I would say my three words are bold eclectic and nature. I like color and I like to change things around in my home a lot but I do like trees and flowers and animals. Which they are not nature but I have a big wall in my living room filled with various pictures of flowers. I like vases with dried flower in them. I have some of those elastic covers that you can put over you sofa and my color right now is a apple green with my stripe sofa . The sofa is white with blue stripes . Then I have a rust colored chair. I have red shelf in my living room. My kitchen is a blue coastal type color . So yes i like color too .

Hallo Margaret, I am 80 & love living alone. I’m quite creative & decorate as it pleases just me! In a partnership I think you need to compromise & take each other’s taste into account 😮. Not for me any more! I love my space and am not willing to share it again. Best wishes.

Everyone who enters my home says it is so cool. Cool meanin hip, not the weather. As I've said before, my home is bohemian as is myself. It's a mixture of the laid back Australian beach culture, mixed with jungle Malaysia. One of my favourite countries. Mixed in with that all photos of my favourite pop stars, like The Monkees, and Stevie Nick's. A real mixture, that's what makes it boho. I feel like you Margaret, as I drink my coffee in the morning I look around and think to myself. I just love this! So authentic so me. About contradictions, I have a love of anything french. Almost the exact opposite of boho. But I manage to put a little bit of my love of France, into my boho theme. It all works. I feel you and me know very well, how happy our boho journey makes us.
