Currently rocking Dainty Dark+ (Chroma 4, Darkness 2) and it is by far the theme that I've found most useful. I have some very particular needs and this one covers them all. Dainty is pretty great with the themes, to be honest. I almost always preferred themes modded by them than the originals.
That's a great theme, Atanas! Dainty is quite nice, but somehow I missed it. Thanks so much for sharing it; I think it'll make it into the next set of VS Code themes I share. 🙂
You're welcome, Daniel! 🙂 Oh, I think the font in this video is Menlo. I do switch my coding font often though, and lately I've been using GitHub's Monaspace Neon. If you're interested, I go over my favorite coding fonts in this video: ua-cam.com/video/aEt4lnKY-5w/v-deo.html 🙂
Thanks for your question, Aditya! 🙏 I think this is Menlo. I change it quite often, and these days I'm using Monaspace. 🙂 I shared my favorite fonts in this video, in case you want to check it out: ua-cam.com/video/aEt4lnKY-5w/v-deo.html
I've recently come across *Galactic Glow* 🌌, a hidden gem in the VSCode extension world. It lets you change your coding environment's appearance to match iconic characters 🌟. It's like a Star Wars adventure for your code
Thanks so much for the suggestions, Faizan! 🙏 Cobalt2 was in very close consideration-I love it, just like Wes Bos' work in general. But I managed to miss Night Owl. This is a really good one. 💯 It looks like a follow-up video is already beginning to take shape. 🙂
Good evening, I'm from Brazil and I'm following your channel. I would like to know the name of the extension in the 0:25 part of the video below the word: body { There is a yellow marker in the corner. What would this extension be?
Thanks for following and watching, and hello to Brazil from Croatia! 👋 It seems like you're referring to the yellow line that highlights the current code block. This is not handled by an extension but is one of VS Code's settings, "Bracket Pair Colorization." Search for it in the settings and try enabling those options: cln.sh/hMxm3rMp Is this what you're looking for? 🙂
@@EconomistaTrainee You're very welcome! I actually made a video a while ago talking about default VS Code settings that might be worth tweaking. It includes this tip as well. 🙂 Here is the link, in case you want to check it out: ua-cam.com/video/WQ9jhxy7Mkk/v-deo.html
Thanks for the great video, Zoran! Just curious, what is your preferred setup for both light/dark themes? I'm using the dynamic option (which adapts to the system theme) and just seeking some inspiration.
That's very interesting! Could you share how you have this set up? 🙂 I'm all over the place with dark/light themes. I prefer a dark theme for my code editor and light for writing/reading; I have some apps and websites set to dark and some to light, so I never used the option to follow my system preferences. 🙂
@@CSSWeekly by setting the Preferred Light (or Dark) Color Theme settings in Workbench → Appearance, you can also do this in the settings.json file: ("workbench.preferredDarkColorTheme": "SynthWave '84"). And to set it all up, Window → Auto Detect Color Scheme, and it should work 🙂. PS I'm kinda on the same boat, always rotating themes (kinda how I got here), but yeah I never really found a good light theme yet, currently using Bearded Theme Light.
Great choice. However theme preference is quite subjective I love Dracula theme for my dev beside that night owl and monokia are great options overall with well balanced colors, easy on eyes and great highlights color choices.
Really nice video! I'm really curious about what kind of cursor settings you are using, ref. timestamp 0:32 - 0:39 ish, the yellow cursor blinking with the yellow border as well. It looks like a really nice and timesaving feature :) Wanna share, maybe?
Thank you so much, Michael! 🙏 I'm using Vim-Mode, so this would be the cursor in the Command mode, which should correspond to the "Block" "Cursor Style" option, I think. And I also have "Cursor Blinking" set to "smooth." And the color is coming from the theme. I hope this is what you're looking for. 🙂
Oh, you definitively do need it, Doug! 🙂 That would be the Color Highlight extension: marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=naumovs.color-highlight I went over the better CSS extensions I'm using in this video, in case you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/f4Pv42003y4/v-deo.html
@@CSSWeekly Does that support colour syntax other than hex? My codebases have a lot of hsl and more recently oklch - these types of extensions always seem a bit out of date when it comes to colour syntax.
It supports HSL format but it's not ideal; new syntax isn't working with opacity. Newer formats like LCH and OKLCH don't work, sadly. Test: cln.sh/YDcPLM6B

I just like the default vscode darker+ theme they added not so long ago
