Great talk with a great scientist! Took part in Dr Charles Cockell Astrobiology coursera course as well - incredibly interesting subject. Shame it has so few views.
oh wow! I was half way through that very course but my internet connection was dire so gave up. want to get back into it at some point soon, still on the AB thing tho!
Just want to say how wonderful. I met Charles through the Alien Life on Mars Data Nugget. Always has been one of my favorites. Will there be a sequel with the microb rocks?
I wish to become an astrobiologist. Maths is tough for me. Can I become an astrobiologist after taking PCB in class 11 and 12 and a degree in biology ?
Hi, I applied for PhD at a university where supposidely there is research group where interrelationship between biology and chemistry is researched. Being from Plant Biology background, I want to know how can I study/ contribute to the research of Astrobiology?
I'm harshita.in 9th class .I just use your search, read books and get information about astrobiology from different resources .I love the subject and I want to work on it plzzzzzzzzz guide me . I'm an INDIAN 🤩😌
Definitely a great answer! "Asking questions like “What’s the universe made of?”, “Is there life out there?”: These are questions that really define us as a species that can think as a civilization that can go beyond purely animal instinct"
I want to become an astrobiologist as a professional. Please guide me as to what all courses are to be done and what is the career path. I'm in class 10 currently
@@cosmobiologisthello, I actually did not pursue the same due to a lot of factors including lack of opportunities near by and guidance. However, I am a medical student now and studying is on quite well.
@@prithaganguly9062 That's wonderful to hear! When I was working on my biology and chemistry degrees, I spent quite some time considering going pre-med and becoming a doctor. Indeed, my sister and law went that route and managed to become an MD and Captain in the U.S. Army on the same day. There's a lot of value in pursuing medical studies, not just for becoming a healer, but also in your learning about the physiology and biochemistry of the human body for your own health and wellbeing. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your studies!

Thanks for doing this, but please work on your sound issues (eg: get a microphone perhaps?). You are scientists but you sound like you are talking through a rotten potatoe.
Both are obviously using microphones. What you're hearing is the audio compression from videoconferencing. This was a videocon between the UK and California.

Thanks! We just posted it, so views will come :)
Hope so! :)
That 's because everyone is mad about engineering and physics. Everyone just ignores the awesome biology.
Yeah, Dr. Cockell's Coursera course is awesome!

Coming back to this. Apologies that we missed your comment 2 years ago. We should definitely see about having Charles on the show again :)

Thankyou. So, can I become an astrobiologist without taking maths in class 11 and 12.
I want to enroll in college and study Astronomy and Astrobiology ... What do I need to start? I'm in South Florida , probably in Broward Collage
This is a great place to start: astrobiology.nasa.gov/career-path-suggestions/
Hi Nana. How are your studies going? Are you attending a college in South Florida?
How to take this degree
Apologies for having missed this comment years ago. Are you still interested in pursuing astrobiology education?
