Gotta love a man that’s deep enough to understand that fishing is the meaning of life..... Ronnie was a Fisher of men of sorts . Look what he built......
There ain't words to explain what was in his heart. Sometimes the simplest things are left short and have a bigger meaning. Song writers do this cause they want the audience to be left with awe.
As a southern man. A veteran. A retired police officer. A patriot. I also see it as encroachment of our rights. Our liberty. Our way of life. Our family. By city people, the federal govt. and thier "regulations" they like to shove down other peoples throats.
This song is about as close to what Ronnie had planned on doing hadn't he didn't get killed. After the 1977-78 fall/winter tour of the Survivors and in the spring of 78, Ronnie was gonna make a country album and a duet with his favorite singer, Merle Haggard.
Such a beautiful song and true sentiment about the way he felt about things he saw coming. He was so prolific and amazing! Simply the best at his craft bar none. You Got That right!
Even though I am a UGA Alum and fan, I like that Florida Gators hat on him. I am glad that he took an interest in the annual game in Jax and liked college football. Heck of a guy.
How come ain't nobody seen this . He said it like he really ment it. While he was fishing! These guys were as real as can be! This a great song and it mean so much. That from free bird the movie I think, if you like Skynyrd then you probably seen it. I got it. DVD.
just shows you ain't gotta be the best singer, to be the best singer... every word was REAL, and it comes through that way. all these kids now, some got more talent than just about anybody, and can really sing. but ain't one thing about it real. not even their actually voice, auto tuned and everything. but the lyrics are meaningless, and they still can't sell it. most of em ain't even got more than 10 words to the whole song. i was watching rick beato the other day going through the top 10 pop songs. and one, he said well, it's a song... and it was praise. it was an actual song, the only one of all of em. with a chorus and everything, the rest were basically just a hook, over and over and a bunch of drum machines and stuff. this will live on forever, timeless. no auto tune, pro tools, no help at all. but you feel it. i don't care who you are, or what you think pof skynyrd, if you don't feel this song, you are definitely the problem.
I love my confederate roots. And I am not a racist. Our southern roots are being dashed out and we are being betrayed as barbarians. 155 years ago is not problem 🖕
that indeed is Lynyrd Skynyrd Playing this Song! and its skynyrd in the video ! the Audio from the Album has been put with some video of OGWT on November 11th 1975
Trav Nugara No, I know it’s Skynyrd, I guess their live version is just out of sync with the studio recording, I can’t tell that it’s the same song, except the guitars at the beginning look in sync. Is the OGTW clip out there? I’d love to see it.
Yes I can see the concrete slowly creeping lord take me and mine before it comes... lord if he only knew how prophetic that was.
Yep they paved right over the Hellhouse.

@daniacollins9916 I found out later the developer didn't pave over it and left it as an empty lot between houses.
Possibly the greatest musician that ever lived
I have no doubts..lyrics off the charts. Rich Mullins in Christian music parallels Ronnie
If only music today held the same emotion. Everything about Ronnie and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s music was absolutely fabulous.
Gotta love a man that’s deep enough to understand that fishing is the meaning of life..... Ronnie was a Fisher of men of sorts . Look what he built......

Best Skynyrd song ever. IMHO.

I really like their ballads.
Just been to Jacksonville. Ronnie was right, it’s now another huge city with buildings and concrete. There’s still beauty left but Ronnie knew
Hell house remains tho.. they built around it in honor

Ronnie Van Zant, probably the most misunderstood singer of all time.
Best band ever to grase the stage , Their all together and playing ☮️

We can’t have heaven here on earth but Ronnie and the Hag playing together would have been darn close.
What about Fats domino in the mix as well?
