thanks for the video. did you have any luck getting a microphone working with it? I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out how to go from the 8 pin din to an XLR or 1/4" socket.
@@MatthewNorthMusic I was also curious about this specific use if that machine trying to figure out the head configuration. Does the machine have separate heads for recording and playback? Does that mean that there is no erase head on that particular model?
@@jiosi this is 2 head machine one head is for erase and second for playback and record so no real time loop. But there is a newer model also called 4400 with 3 heads you can spot that uher with big round VU meters. That one is a true 3 head machine.
You need a Uher with the word 'monitor' in its title. This allows you to monitor off tape with the consequent time delay. I just bought one that isn't working in the hope that I can make it do its thing..
A truly wonderful piece of kit Mathew ,thanks for sharing this
Yes cant wait till the summer and i can take it outside spinning some Beatles while having a Bar B Q :)
Interesting video especially as I have just bought a mono version. Could you please let me know where you got the belts? Thanks

Apparently my Nagra 7 is designed for journalism too. I'd like to find a few of those in a skip.

That' machine looks like new. I'm amazed someone decided to skip it..

Not yet in mono you just need a 3 pin din I haven't buzzed out to see what extra pin is needed for stereo
I should very much to see a recording video
I'm gonna ask what everyone is thinking.
