Lovely Vlog guys. Thanks for all the useful tips and you both look very happy with being in France. Fancy that !! You were behind a VW Crafter on the train, but sadly not ours 😉🤣🤣🚐 Trev n Sue
Thanks Trev and Sue , we been looking forward to returning to Europe. The new system with the dogs worked fine and we'll definitely stick with Abbeywell. It did seem like a leap of faith thought leaving it until a few days before Poppy's AHC was actually in our hands. Thanks for watching best wishes Helen and Martin.
Brilliant vlog. Really useful information. Bet it’s great to be travelling in Europe again. Watching this has got us excited for our trip. Looking forward to your travels.
Thanks guys , we are so excited to back in Europe, it was the reason we gave up our caravanning life for a motorhome for the mobility of touring Europe so seems like we have our plans back on track. Oh and the boulangeries !!!! . Thanks for watching Helen and Martin

I am getting in the mood by drinking French wine right now. The sooner your next vlog comes out .... the sooner I can start on the next bottle (of French wine, of course)!!!

Thanks for watching we really appreciate it , best wishes Helen and Martin.
Thank you for the info re pet reception at Folkestone, it's reassuring having seen what I'll be looking out for when me and my dog Ted get the Eurotunnel in April for our motorhome trip.

Hi both (3), loved the video. Very informative and full of hints and tips surrounding AHC. We are taking our 3 dogs to the Netherlands in May, it will be the first time for us since Brexit.
Hi there, thanks for watching. It was a bit of a worry for us first time, but the authorities do seem to have got their act together on the Animal Health Certificate front. Hope you enjoy the Netherlands. Best wishes Helen and Martin.
Thanks for all the fantastic tips from your v-log - we love watching your videos and you are inspiring us to consider taking our own Labradors abroad in the future - we’re hoping to get our 1st caravan in April and we’re so excited- so glad we found you guys, cheers, John & Debs 😎😎. Have a fantastic hol in France 3 of you 👍X

The lifestyle is very much suited to dogs we feel , our poppy get so excited when she realises we are going away. Many thanks for watching and taking time to comment . Best wishes Helen and Martin.
Thank you very much for this video. We are about to contact Abbeywell Vets as our vets want nearly £400 to issue an AHC for our two dogs. This has given us the confidence to start the process in readiness for our September tour. We love your confidence around European travel, it’s very generous of you to share your experiences 😃👍🏻🚐 Safe travels 💙 Trev n Sue

That video was so informative. I have driven through France, Spain, Andorra and Belgium in a car but I feel apprehensive about going in my campervan, after this video I feel a little more confident. 😁 Thanks as always for sharing a great video.
Thanks Sylvia , we have had a nice run through France, the roads haven't seemed busy and they are well maintained. It has seemed easier than driving in the UK really. (Paris ring road aside 😂). I am sure you would enjoy it and the dogs health certificate process seemed to run like clock work. Thanks very much for watching best wishes Helen and Martin.

Hi nice to hear from you , it is a lovely drive to Pamplona. We have just hit Benicassim where it's raining , Valencia next and i think the weather will clear up tomorrow I'm sure. Best wishes Helen, Martin and Poppy of course.
Thanks for the info on your vlog 👍, so just get pet certificate and go to the new pet control and on way back it's like before and go to french vets before you come home and stop at euro tunnel pet control on way back Was meant to be going to France just as Covid hit with my old westies and hope to go with new pair who have never been and give the spark back to my partner as she misses her french holidays 👍
Hi, yes, that’s correct, both dogs will need to be microchipped and then have a rabies jab at least 21 days before travel . We only have one dog but both of yours can go on the same Animal Health Certificate. We really recommend Abbeywell Vets we have used them twice with no issues at Pet Reception , they are also very efficient and cheaper than most. The process for returning is a worming tablet 24 -120 hours before your ferry/train. The French vet needs to complete page 4 of the AHC . If you are on Facebook there is a page called AHC/Animal Health Certificate UK which gives advice and information. I hope this helps and you all enjoy your travels, thanks very much for watching. Helen & Martin.
at 2:53 in the vlog, the side curtain at cab door, make sure you don't have the securing tab trapped around the inside edge of the door - the buckle/silver thing will mark/wear through the curtain. Bottom one can be pushed down after curtain is drawn, top one needs to be done before it's drawn. Guess how I know...
Thanks for the tip Ian , Helen has just had a look at this. We didn’t realise that’s good of you to let us know. Thanks for watching to. Helen and Martin
A great VLOG that has REALLY helped. We are going to the Alps for 10 days this September with Bruce (our very large labradoodle) What was it like bringing Poppy back from France back into the UK. What was the process?
Thanks Julian for commenting and watching . We have a video on his link - ua-cam.com/video/cD8b36sjMts/v-deo.html where we talk about the process for coming back - about 55secs in. If you need anything else info wise give us a shout and we'll try and help. Best wishes H and M
Great video. I don't want to get an angles morts sticker for the rear so the suction cup idea. Looks great. You mentioned they were German. The question is did the sign stay on 😂😂and if so where can i get the suction cups. Thank you
Morning Sean , I bought suction cup ones from www.reflecto.shop/vehicles-plates/marking-signs/Campervan-Sign-Blind-Spot-Angles-Morts-France . Choose impex plate with suction cups from the design choice drop down. They were well tested by speeds , weather and road conditions on our run through France and didn’t come detached at all , they remained in the condition we bought them in and caused no damage to the vehicle. I am very happy with them. Thanks for watching the video best wishes H and M
Trying to move to Mexico. Wanted to fly out of Paris. Cannot hire a car one way. Looking for other options been quoted £1400 from Suffolk to Paris for us and two dogs with pet taxi. Was worried as animal health certificate is only valid for ten days. Queen Mary 2 takes 8 days and the next direct flight from new York to Cancun is day 9. At least I understand a AHC is collectable on day 1. Sorry to unload. It's so hard to be a pet owner. Flight from France lets us take dogs under 8kg in the cabin. Thank you for the video.
We can only empathise , sounds a real complex situation. We do worry about our dogs don't we. Hope a solution presents itself for you , thanks for watching best wishes Helen and Martin
Fly to France, rent car drive to UK load up dogs and bags drive to french airport. Or TransAtlantic cruise. Hate having to get taxi or bother friends. Thank you for video.
Love your vlogs. I'm taking my dog to France tomorrow and heading to Germany for a trip. Very anxious about taking him, is it right to say you have to give them tapeworm tablet in the destination country (Germany) then you have up to 5 days to make your journey back into the UK? Thanks for any tips/ advice it would be very much appreciated 😸
Thanks that's great to hear. It's perfectly natural to be anxious about taking the dog for the first time , but let me reassure you it will be fine. The rules are that a tapeworm tablet must be administered by a Vet and this has to undertaken no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours (5 days) before you travel. As long as this is done before you depart it can be done in any EU Country . There is a credible Facebook Group which is very helpful and has lists of Vets etc and other helpful tips called Animal Health Certificate UK run by the very knowledgeable Kathy Thomas which is worth a look the link is here - facebook.com/groups/214994374045047 . Have a great time and thanks for watching our channel. Anything we can help with just give is a shout. Best wishes Helen and Martin.
@@helenandmartinsTreks it is of course the passenger side in France and means it can easily be seen from that side. Enjoyed the vid. we are through the tunnel with the dog tomorrow.
Hi Steve I just bought the normal RAC supplied options and trimmed them down. I couldn't get specific sized ones for the van , but it worked ok you just need less of the triangle. Thanks for watching Helen and Martin
Lovely video guys, just wondering what the process looks like inside post Brexit…do they have to register the pet on some kind of computer system, like with passports or is it just a check to see if the microchip matches the paperwork and the rabies. Thanks.
Hi , if you still have an EU Passport, then you can carry on as normal as long as the rabies jabs are updated in Europe in the UK . You can still in some places get a Pet Passport as it's the easiest way to move around. Otherwise it's an UK Animal Health Certificate which is a much clunky process to be fair but can be done. We did a video on this subject which you might helpful . It's on this link ua-cam.com/video/6apDCHUqzh8/v-deo.html . Thanks very much for watching best wishes Helen and Martin
Hi Stephen thanks for watching this is the link for the French Crit Aire Certificate , needed if your van is over 3.5T www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/ Best wishes and happy travels Helen and Martin
Thank you for the vlog very useful can I ask How do you go about taking dog food into France with meat being banned is their a supermarket in France near to tunnel
Hi Stephen, yes there are a lot of supermarkets around all plotted on Google maps. A tip is to switch to google Satellite maps once you find a supermarket to check for height barriers , which aren’t often a problem but it’s something we do. We tend to get off the train and clear Calais . There seems to be a tolerance at the border for people carrying a little bit of food for their dog , a fish based option perhaps, enough to get you to the supermarket .We have travelled a few times through borders and dog food doesn’t seem to high on their agenda. There are lots of people who claim to ignore the rules on this both with food for animals and humans. We try to comply with he rules but that’s just us. The supermarkets are well stocked with good quality dog food. Thankfully our dog has a robust stomach wise doesn’t seem to have a problem swapping over to a new brand. If your dog has a food allergy or digestive issue , there is an option with a vets letter to carry 20kgs per person of dog food (no one knows why it’s per person) . This allows for the gradual transition of food rather than a sudden change. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching Helen and Martin
Hi Tim , we had to fill out the French Honour form where you declare that you do not have any symptoms or been In contact with anyone who has, but the French Border agents didn’t ask for the forms. No tests required now of course but we are both vaccinated and boosted. We uploaded our NHS vaccine certificates to the French App and they scanned the bar code to prove vax status. We had to produce the bar code again to enter a couple of tourist places but not shops. There is a different system if you’re not vaccinated and they do require the vaccine to have been administered within a certain time, in effect meaning in most cases a booster would be required to follow the process we went through. Hope that helps thanks for watching all the best Helen and Martin.
Hi Adam , once the paperwork is obtained from the Vets and verified at Pet Reception at Folkestone you’re sorted to enter France . I guess the border guards could ask to see the AHC but in our case they didn’t. You have to have a tape worm tablet administered to the animal at a local vets between 24 and 120 hours prior to coming back to the U.K. and then pass through Pet Reception ahead of getting on the boat or train to come back. We came came from Spain by boat so it was a Spanish Vet who administered the tape worm tablet and updated our AHC accordingly and then we presented this document at Pet Reception at the Port and we were good to go. Hope that helps . Thanks for watching best wishes Helen and Martin
@@helenandmartinsTreks thats great, i had been told you have to do it all again as soon as you get off the train in france 😂😂😂 my dogs are very reactive so just trying to mentally prepare myself for what lays ahead. Thanks so much for the info.
@@helenandmartinsTreks can I ask what you use to find these vets when returning home. I am going to be going back and forth from for the next 5 years 😬 xx
@@donnamills5646 Hi Donna the easiest way to is to join a Facebook group called Recommendation vets for Tape Worm Treatment - facebook.com/groups/247367519467456 . It's very helpful.
Your crit aire sticker is in the wrong place. Should be bottom right as you look from inside.
Thanks Martin , you learn something everyday.
@@helenandmartinsTreks it is of course the passenger side in France and means it can easily be seen from that side. Enjoyed the vid. we are through the tunnel with the dog tomorrow.
@@martingilligan have a great time
hi Martin can you tell me where you got your headlight deflectors for europe from . Safe travels. Steve
How do get the omissions zone certificate we are travelling from uk to Spain via France at the beginning of next year Than you for the video
Hi Stephen thanks for watching this is the link for the French Crit Aire Certificate , needed if your van is over 3.5T www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/ Best wishes and happy travels Helen and Martin
Is this thrip recent. We were wondering what date it was on
We left left weekend and are now bearing the Spanish border . Thanks for watching. Helen and Martin.
Were there any COVID restrictions or forms to fill out before you travelled ?
@@helenandmartinsTreks thanks. We're probably heading towards Holland, Germany and maybe Denmark, so of course everything will be different to France
hi, do you not have to go anywhere for the pets after you disembark in france?
This site provided this link to a map with recommended vets on throughout Europe. We use it as we often return via different routes and so need a vet that is convenient . Hope that helps , come back to us we can help further. www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1ZpzyZ7E4WVV2wWNvH3TL16z-Hh7Y68rz&ll=45.40331804572828%2C2.182460382767415&z=6 Best wishes H and M

Hi Colin I got them here - www.reflecto.shop/vehicle-plates/marking-signs/Bus-Sign-Blind-Spot-Angles-Morts-France?number=10440037-SAU . They stood up very well to the drive through France and worked very well to. Not cheap but better than having them stuck over our decals. Thanks for watching Helen and Martin
