That ending made me realise the title ‘Alice in borderland’ and the people who died from the laser beam their heart beat stop just like when you in a hospital bed and someone passed away the machine that records your heartbeat becomes a straight line. I think it’s called flatline
They always knew the ending , I went back to episode 1 and usagi was there . They’ve known since the beginning. This was the best ending ever it was simple and made sense . The others never died because they desperately wanted to live .
I looked for that too! As soon as the credits rolled on the s2 finale i went Right back to the s1 premiere to freeze the scene on that frame and was just like... damn. y'all planned Well
As Director and Adorkable said, Alice in borderland was all about the desire of an individual to live and their will to survive. With a strong enough will to survive, you could make it out alive. Hence why Teefa didn't die even though she was basically cut in half with bullets.
Arisu seeing his friends one last time before waking up and them telling him to live his life was powerful and beautiful. Their friendship even though it was only shown for three episodes stuck with me and always made me emotional seeing them together again. Beautiful ending for a beautiful series.
after the end you can kinda understand why Niragi was still alive, and why Akane was still alive, their were in the border between life and death fighting to survive, they were alive because their will to live was strong
Shes convincing until you cant remember this is game of heart . So shes literally playing with everyone heart . I think you guys the only one understand that , this game was actually cardiac arrest moment
You guys are the only reactors, as far as I've seen so far, who understand the whole story and the message. I love your insightfulness and thoughtfulness. 👍 from Japan
I actually came to comment the same thing but got caught up in reading the comments. They weren't the only reactors I saw that reached satisfying conclusions, but their conclusions were diverse enough that they respectfully considered things I hadn't thought about, or things I had but disagreed with. They were very thorough in examining what they each thought this meant, and I really enjoyed that.
Ann survive because kuina, make the decision for her..thus bringing her back to life. Joker in the end symbolized life. The hardest game is life and yet it fun, that we all play together. *Mira already informed arisu and viewer before her death.
The thing with Ann is IMO like those real life examples of people being written off for dead according to logic and science but because they had someone they cared about and cared for them at their sides trying to will them back to life they made an inexplicable recovery.
in the manga Arisu actually talks to the person behind the borderlands which is the Joker, he gave everyone a second chance, and he was the intermediate guiding people to the world of the dead or the world of the living. and as a fact 30 people would join the borderlands everyday, people that are in comas and stuff, thats where they go in this Alice in Bordeland Universe.
Joker's evil, he don't guide shit, that was only Arisu vision of it, but since he was hella injured and mentally unstable, maybe he really could only think of one answer like that.
I always viewed the King of Spades and Queen of Hearts as a foil to each other, Life vs. Death. King was like the Grim Reaper, Death incarnate, he came and swiftly killed, ending suffering and mercifully ushering players across. The Queen is like Life, she throws pain, suffering, agony, heartbreak, cruelty, but wants you to rise above it, to want to live regardless of your pain, regardless of how bad the circumstances are. you want to live so bad that nothing will stop you, which is why when Arisu and Usagi want to live for each other, regardless of all the things they've went through, she cries and finishes the game. It's a metaphor for her game, (just reach the end, don't forfeit or give up, keep fighting, keep living). Because Life can be cruel and hard, while Death is easy, just give up, let it take you.
Honestly, I was pulled into the whole bit with the psychiatric hospital with the queen of hearts. just like arisu, I was convinced that this was all just in his head after the trauma of seeing his friends die. it wasnt until the queen brought up quitting the game, that I snapped out of it. no wonder her game is the hardest, it's really about emotionally/psychologically breaking players down until they stop playing on their own. like. imagine hearing "just complete three rounds of croquet without quitting and you clear the game" and you're left confused. it sounds so deceptively simple until the queen starts losing on purpose in round two, and then stalling the game for tea to make players anxious ( worse if one or more players are heavily injured ) to continue. then mess with their heads repeatedly until they quit.
In the manga, the joker card wasn't there Arisu actually talked to the Joker himself before returning to the real world It looked like the Joker was trying to get Arisu to replace him
No the Joker don't want to he replaced, he just asks Arisu if he is a "Villain", to which Arisu replies that he's just a middle man After that exchange there's an illustration of the "Death River", it's safe to say Joker is basically the ferryman on River Styx, Grim Reaper, Enma, or whatever entity that guards the realm between life and death depending on your religion
The joker card is the strongest card in the game, so it should be the hardest game. But life itself is the hardest game that's what the joker card represents life itself in the ending. The manga ends with the same panel. There is a mini sequel (manga) it's called alice in borderland retry and it's about years later arisu is married with usagi and has a child he gets in an accident and goes back to alice in borderland. Once he is back he remembers everything from his first visit to the borderlands and tries to win the games to go back to his child and usagi.
Really great commentary out there. You guys understand not only the borderland concept (the will to survive and live), but also dive deep into the whole point of the show with the illustration of the Queen of Hearts Game - Arisu getting through the game = him exploring and understanding the meaning of his own life taking words from his friends after returning to the original world.
You remember the king of spades flashback? His whole band got drunk and they asked who was driving. I think they got into a car accident and ended up in borderland and cleared the game. They chose to become citizens. When you become a citizen your body is probably in a coma until you die. Also remember that borderland experience was only 1 minute. Even if the charachters were dying they still made it to the end, those last few hours were probably a few seconds. One more thing is Ann died. Her heart stopped for a few seconds. She made it to the end of the game so they were still able to bring her back to life and restart her heart. She was only dead for a moment.
I also want to add that evsn though everyone got hit by the meteor. Everyone arrived at different times because those few second delay of getting hit by the meteor were a few days delay in borderland. Everyone doesnt get hit at the same exact time, the people closest to eachother got to the game at the same time
Ann got back, because Kuina held her hand and brought her back with her. the band was not in an accident, because only the victims of the meteroit were in the borderlands
@@angryangro2139 Not really. The ones that were citizens arrived in the Borderlands before the group of the meteorite accident, like five months earlier. They were just players like Arisu and the others back then, but they played other version of the game, cleared It, and got to choose If they would get out or become citizens. That's how they turned into Kings and Queens; Kyuma, Isao (King of Spades), Mira... They were all together as players at this previous game.
The Joker card, in the manga, is a character who actually appears in the story. He’s a ferryman between the world of the living and the afterlife, who brings Arisu back to the real world at the end. So them showing the joker card could mean that the ferryman did his job and brought back all the survivors to the real world or it could also mean it's gonna be another game cos the manga has a sequel so we could get a season 3
Some fans say that the joker card is a metaphor for their last game being living in the real world. A joker is flexible in that it can resemble any card. Before the Queen of Hearts dies she says to Arisu 'life is a game we play together' and I think the joker card plays into this message.
Kids being without their parents is pretty normal for Japan, even in a big city like Tokyo, so it's not that strange his parents were not there. It's extremely normal to even see little kids or elementary school age taking the train and walking to school alone, they have like a kids travel pass they have that makes an adorable bird tweeting sound when they pass gates at stations XD. Where I used to live I recall passing a group of kids around 8-10 years old at the convenience store near the station every morning where the neighbourhood kids would meet up to go to school together. Tokyo has an incredibly low crime rate and neighbourhoods often have their own associations so everybody locally ends up knowing each other and watches out for each other if anything is happening.
The Borderlands was basically Death's playground. The players come there when they're on the brink of death, the games test their will to survive, hence their will to continue living after leaving Borderland. If they survive the games, they get a second chance at living.
Love this series sooooo much more than the 1st season... Everything was amazing... The games, the characters, the storytelling, the sound effects and like what you notice starting from episode 1, the cinematography team did a good job...
So the most probable theory around is that Joker is the God of life and death. The souls of people who got caught in that blast, were sent to the parallel world to give them a chance to live. People who had most will to live, their souls were returned. idk...
They don't remember what happened. They were in the "borderlands", the border between death and life. One of the theories is that the "citizens" are/were in a coma, waiting to die while the rest were fighting for their lives. In the manga Joker is a character but here it could be just a nod to that fact since it's a proper ending, but they could use it to make a new season since a good portion of the last few games was changed from the original. If they truly end it at this, I think it's a good, proper ending. Season 3 could be amazing but it could also destroy this amazing end.
Alice In Borderland Season 3 Has Been Officially Confirmed I'm Excited To Watch it When it's Comes Out . The Story About The Joker Card That Appeared At The End Of This Episode . I Guess The Games Ain't Over ☠️
I still don't know if their going to make a season 3. But I do know that a manga after Alice in Borderlan was made with an older Arisu returning back to Borderland.
Honestly the only players that maybe makes sense being alive rn is chishiya(he a doctor he probably know how to treat himself), arguably niragi aside from his disease, and possibly aguni. Maybe usagi if we stretching. But heiya, Ann and kuina had absolutely no business being alive. To me this season would have been a 9-10/10 if it wasn’t for that. And eps7 would have been my favourite of the series. Solid 8/10 season but S1 was a 10 so overall series is a 9/10
I don't mind aspects of will to live explanation, but they made the characters look a bit too much like they should've died for shock value in the moment, it feels like. People said it wasn't intense like that in the manga either. That's my main nitpick, but for the most part, I still enjoyed it overall with the ending.
The Joker in the series was used a bit differently compared to the manga BUT if we wanna theoraize strictly based on the series, remember that the Queen said that Life is also a game and, I'd say, that recovering from surviving this catastrophic event (with some of these ppl also having lost friends/family, besides being injured) + getting back up from many of the problems life presents, is a pretty hard game to play, so the Joker might simply symbolize that they entered the hardest game yet: Life - which is also full of irony, the way the figure of the Joker is. It doesn't have to be viewed negatively! But they also did it in a way that if they get a 3rd season, they can build around the Joker figure - they'd just have to write that season themselves because there's little to no manga material left.
I’ll give AIB best serie of the decade ❤ I love what the Queen of ❤ said at the end “like is like a game. Enjoy it more” to Arisu. Honestly, I can totally understand Arisu, he saw the only 2 people he cared and loved him die in front of him to save him… I would never be able to overcome that or the depression I’d be in.
I think the joker card could be 2 thing 1. Just a nod to the manga bcs in this adaptation Arisu never met the joker 2. Season 3.. they want to milk the series by taking the piece that they didn't use from the source material and branch out new stuff maybe could also link it with the spin-off AIB: Retry
Even tho 3 season is coming, it will not be canon, so i just wanted to say that Joker is a evil entity. But damn i want this time back, it was such a nice time watching yall and this show.
it wasnt dude everyone there was connected they all really went to that place. The soul only remembers feelings not persons or conversations so they all feel something for each other but doesnt know why.
In The manga the Joker ruler of borderland talked with Arisu after the Queen died..is he a god or the devil he created the games coz the meteor took too many young life and he wanted to give all the people who died a second chance...those who were closer to the blast went there 5 months earlier like the naked dude and his team...I think they should stop here if season 3 is green lit they're just milking it now..
to be fair there is actually a sequel manga set way later and they could just adapt that, although i think this is a really good ending anyway (both manga and live action) so i'm fine with it if they do adapt that or if they don't, but it wouldn't just be nonsense, there would actually be material to adapt
