Appreciate the Wilco reference. Just found Big Thief - now I've 5 albums to love. Last night, found Shannon Wright - first 4 tracks of her first LP, Flightsafety, are unbelievably good. The 11th, Yard Grass, has the fastest acoustic guitar (as fast as Metallica) I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot!
Also, Neko Case's, The Worse Things get, the Harder....., is worth the UA-cam search.
The outro of the last track is so good. Amazing how just 11 notes on a trumpet, can be so beautiful/powerful.
As someone who was groomed online I've had a very conflicting relationship with sexuality. This song has helped me with my healing journey. I love u Julia please come go the USA so I can never be depressed again.

Julia, your music has meant so much to me. I went through a break up with my partner of 7 years last year and your music honestly helped keep me from drowning under the depression of that time. You gave voice to some of my most difficult and painful feelings and it made me feel like I wasn't alone (especially "to Perth before the border closes". That song instantly brings tears to my eyes). Thank you so much for that! I almost got to see you at the recent Ain't No Picnic festival but ended up not being able to go cause I was moving that weekend. I hope I get a chance to see you perform live some day soon. Thank you for the work you do

I like the relatability... I feel this is an intermission song... a bit 70's snooze... hang on a second...
I kind of think the lyrics are about a transgender person, specifically a transfem going into their transitioning stage.
Like the first verse they're trying to be turned on by anything, and well that's actually one common effect while transitioning to a female.
Then there's this lyric that goes "If I don't change soon, will it forever eclipse the moon". Like some trans people are actually scared of puberty, since it'll heavily influence their bodies making them even more dysphoric.
But that's just my take, this is a really good song, really-really good.

I don’t think that was the point of the line. I think it’s alluding to her not being able to find pleasure from her partner or within herself so the cheap thrills of p*rn is the only she could find that pleasure. Then the next line says her education creeps in. So I imagine she’s guilty for the way she found pleasure.

the line “right when pleasure brings my education creeps in” is all about, in my understanding, her awareness of how women are supposed to feel uplifted by porn and the sex positivity movement, when it is actually exploitative and degrading. the whole song is about self worth, desirability, and the emptiness of that confusion
