    The Aero Warriors era of Nascar was an aerodynamic arms race between Ford and Chrysler. Learn about the the Wing Cars, the Torino Talladega, how it all started, and how it ended, all right here!
    I want to give special thanks to Thanks to Aerowarriors.com, Ken Noffsinger, And Greg Kwiatkowski for all the documents. Especially Ken for giving my script the once over.

    If only Ford had put the SOHC 427 FE in Fairlanes and Comets to sell at dealerships, and Bill France had approved them, we might have eventually seen 32 valve DOHC A925 426 HEMI Daytonas and Superbirds running well over 200 mph around the tracks. Can you imagine?

    This was extremely well done. There are so many videos and even TV specials about these cars where the same general information has just been regurgitated over and over for decades. It extremely refreshing to see someone actually cite the rulebook, and use acutal photos and names to back up their points. This video could be an hour long. This is also well overdue, with how overhyped wing cars have become, most people have no specific knowledge of the design or actual racing record of the cars. Cant wait for part 2.

      Thank you so much for your kind words. I try hard to be as accurate as possible.
      One thing is for sure, when I get some things wrong, I hear about it lol.
      The full video was going to be just over 20 mins. But most people on UA-cam can’t sit that long. So I try to keep them to 10-15 for history videos.
      I hope check out some of the others in the meantime. Hopefully the quality of the order ones aren’t to bad for you!

    Technically the first areo warrior was the 1962 Ford starlift which was a starliner roof on the galaxy convertible. Fred Lorenzen won it's first race at Atlanta, and nascar immediately banned it.

      Fair enough. Kind of an afterthought, but I can see how one would make that point. Thanks for sharing and showing me something I’ve never seen.
      This is why I love this era of automobiles.

      @shieldwolf8093 just switch to a 5 speed tremec and 3.23 rear end and you will be able to pass gas stations without spending so much $ ,and it will still come off the line like jack the bear.

    • @ridgerunnerperformance-jas5418
      @ridgerunnerperformance-jas5418 3 місяці тому

      From my understanding NASCAR wouldn't approve it so they gave it to the drag racers. I have read articles on it that had Pete Robinson had not gotten killed it would have been a series contender to the hemi in the fuel ranks. Pete and Ed Pink probably did the most development on it.

    • @VicsGarage71
      @VicsGarage71  3 місяці тому

      Basically this. They didn’t approve it because of the homologation rules. Similar to how they banned the hemi originally. So ford just let drag racers used it where it had great success.
