In my opinion no. For one reason. This game throws so much BS at you why not exploit it here and there? Aside from the occasional time you get those cheap steals, you play Franchise very fair and realistic. But I wouldn’t mind the rule either. I just like to get back at the sim

For contrat you should be able to do 1 more year for a cheaper Aav or 1 less year for a raise. Would give you better flexibility
That’s who I did a franchise with and got shafted in the draft lottery but still ended up with Carlsson

Love to see a new franchise series. For the contract years thing maybe do like give or take a year or two that way you still have a bit of flexibility. Love the videos as always man!
Yea be able to move it up or down one. So if they ask for 4 years you can do 3,4, or 5

Also, I don’t know why but if you give Kirill Marchenko 2nd line nhl minutes when he’s at least 83-84 OVR he grows like a weed, mine went from 84 OVR to 91 OVR in the span of 1 year
I mean that’s what he pretty much did in real life to the point where we had to drop him back to 4th line and cut his minutes so he wouldn’t score too much and get rid of our chances for Bedard
You should do a nhl 14 franchise series. it’s so refreshing to go back and experience the best era of nhl games. (Plus it also has the best soundtrack of all time)

I like it when you make great deals of 8yrs of 1mil then they grow to be mid-high 80’s because it makes room to get superstars so you can compete for the cup
I like the rule of resigning guys to the years they want as a young players would never take a long deal for no money. Also what an insane draft.. Holy crap

With the contract rule I think you should be able to drop it by 1 year or add 1 year to what they’re asking
Or if they’re asking for $7m 1 year $14m 8 years you can offer the one year deal

Going to make this mention again, seeing as you forgot during the Edmonton series, GET COLE FONSTAD for the AHL team. Always been a solid player for me, he can grow into a reliable 3rd/4th line NHL player as well.
I like the new rule, but maybe allow yourself +/- 1 year on their desired contract. That’s more realistic imo. You can convince a guy for 1 extra year with some extra cash, probably not 6.
Glad to see your taking your viewers feedback like the only give the amount of year a player is asking for.
Again I would suggest not being able to trade players you get from free agency (or at least stars) as you really never see that happen irl except for one years like Klingberg for example.
Overall don’t stop with these Franchise mode series, I enjoy choosing the same team as you and see if I can do better.
Cool thing from my life is I actually grew up playing against Mateychuk and with him one year. The year I played with him I was the teams goalie and our teams top d pair was Owen Pickering and Denton Mateychuk

I like that new rule where you can’t sign young guys for 8 years. Although I think it’s fine to sign better young guys long term as that’s what happening in the nhl eg: Zegras, Hughes, Suzuki, caulfield. It’s kinda hard to pick and choose which guys but I think you should be able to sign guys like this ^ long term even if you know they’re gonna be good.
I think you should be aloud to change the contract length the players are wanting… it makes it more of a realistic negotiation… and if there’s a steal it’s a bonus

Columbus is a great choice for a team in need of a rebuild. I’m attempting to do the same with the Flyers.
for contracts I would do a 1-2 year gap for what the player wants, for example if a player wants 2 years you could give them 1 or 3 years, or 2

Chinakov got a 1 year 1 way 800K deal on April 4th. So... you were more generous than the real Blue Jackets.
there are a few decent-ish Ohio-born players. You know, if you ever wanted to bring them home so to speak.
including J.T. Miller, Dylan Duke, Alex Nedeljkovic, the Sherwood brothers, Jansen Harkins... You already have Cole Sillinger, Jack Roslovic, and Carson Meyer under contract. Owen Sillinger, while being Cole's older brother, wasn't born in Columbus like Cole was. I believe he was born in Regina.
Kuzmenko was ruled out for Calder contention because he turned 26 before September 15th, 2022. He was born February 4th, 1996.... so he was about 7 months too late. However, in game sometimes he is listed as a rookie, sometimes not.
There was a rule that 2bc did if you sign a player with the years he wants you can change the price but you can go 1 year below or above but you would have to overpay
If you want to do that that's up to you

Get rid of the year length rule. Just have so that when you sign guys to 7-8 years, you can’t trade them.
For the contract years, I'd suggest giving them the years they want only in their RFA years or 1 more or 1 less year during the RFA years. UFA FAs can say no if they want to you should be able to offer whatever you want
I like the rule for years wanted in signing but I’d allow yourself to move it at least 2 years up or down if it’s like 4 or 5+ years wanted, and under 4 you can only go up or down 1
Columbus was actually 4th in least a.ount of man games missed . Where as Montreal had the most man games missed this season .
So pumped for this one especially since you have bedsy (that draft was INSANE)! I don't like the exact years on contract rule, i think you should have a few years of leeway but you will have to pay the asking price or higher. I don't think you need a concrete rule, just keep it reasonable.
Also, my guy Cole Clayton is a defensemen on the Cleveland Monsters, he's like AHL potential but he's an absolute beauty and lit up the WHL on Med Hat in his over-age season there. Could be cool to see him on the bottom pair only if you have no good potential guys to play over him :)

For contracts you should be able to adjust it one year either way. That way you can get some players a little longer instead of just giving them what they want.

one stipulation for the contract length should be in free agency. for example, if you wanna bring in a big time free agent but it only makes sense for one year, you should do it. like if you wanna sign some guy for one year at 11 million to compete for one year and then let him go the year later to keep more players, it should be allowed

Connor Bedard does sound like he'll fit perfectly in Columbus, both in TacTix's Franchise mode and IRL NHL.
Idk how but with tarasov he went from a 77 up to an 81 in one season. I guess he is a starter high for me so it’s kinda obvious it would happen.

I think you should be able to give players as many years as you want within reason, just should be you making a judgement call on what you think is realistic
