Anyone here came up with some other alternatives? A DEM Earth license is about € 337,95... I did take the chance once, for I thought: "okay, this will be a good investment". But it turned out to be a yearly subscription!!! I understand that the man has got to eat, but that's almost €30 per month. Which seemingly is not much but then go figure how many folks are out there searching for alternatives - hobby or not. Don't get me wrong, DEM Earth is very cool and once you have it, be sure to "connect object and delete" as much as possible because - once again - after one year you cannot use it anymore.
Did you try the terrain.party route? What you can do is stamp out terrain, for free that way, then use bodypaint to paint it the way you want. It is a little difficult to map the exact terrain to the DEM this way, but certainly a good alternative to the high price of DEM Earth.
Killer. I have had DEM Earth since it came out but have not used it for a while and now I'm crazy about it again. I would be great to see some one get into some of the more artistic uses. I've seen some amazing vids made with it but not many tuts on how to integrate cg and live action into the maps.. but thanks for the refresher !

... and the DEM Earth support is terrible. Avoid it.

nice tutorial man thanks
Most welcome, mate!
what about the size of crimea?
DEM Earth is great, but after a year you have to buy a new license. Which sucks...
Thank you so much!!!!!!
